My only chance to see Marc live was during this period, with Mickey. He rose up from the stage on the big star, opened with Jeepster and closed with Get it On. In the middle of the set was a choppy hard rockin' version of Telegram Sam. The rest of the show was his newer material - Light of Love, Token of Your Love, etc. It was in an old hockey arena and the sound was awful but I loved it anyway. He finished by mounting his guitar and Chanti, you would have enjoyed being that guitar I think.
I love Bolan but honestly ... there was too much filler and naff songs ... these were literally throw away numbers frisbee'd into the charts with little attention or care - and it started to tell. The early stuff was the best, after 73 ... it's crap town. Having said that, it was very similar with early Bowie ... a few absolute stunners and a fair bit of naff filler that if not for Ronno, could have been far worse.
A life-long fan....and lucky enough to have met and chatted with him twice....but my opinion is yes there was a lot of garbage fillers that came....and went!...his TV show was total crap, i just didn't get him poncing around in stupid Jump Suits...making a terrible tinny noise with his once magical guitar...i always hoped he would go back to the original T.REX sound...but he never did...Gloria Jones whining & screeching vocals were 'orrible and often out of tune...he kept going for that soul sound but it just sounded terrible, esp' with those whining tinny keyboard in the background...It all just got fucked up....who knows what would have happened in the future had he lived?...he might have come back with a better, more creative and better quality sound & songs...Electric Warrior...The Slider...TANX.....forever Gems!...no matter what i will love Marc Bolan forever till i kick it!.....RIP Marc x
This is an understandable thing to say in retrospect, but at that time, the audience was moving away from the hard rock sound by the end of the 70s actually, so if he had stayed with the same T Rex sound from 71 I don't know who exactly he would have reached. He embraced punk though and I don't know if he would have acquired a true punk sound or just flirted with it. In any case, I think, if he had lived, he should have gone into seclusion for a while and re-emerge in beginning of the 90s, like Bowie did...

Thanyou, he said he was a very exploitative person.
