Fun fact, if you want to use a different fill plug for a sals diff, you can use an lt95 brass fill plug and gasket.
Floss out with ATF and refill with a good ep90 gl5 and it god for another 300KKm, It is Land Rover !! 😀
Perhaps that should read, Flush out with ATF. I wouldn't want viewers to be flossing with ATF. You never know in this community.
@@harveysmith100 sorry it must dyslexic light- Another killer for me is :“Break” and “brake”
Water ingress from wading or a lot of condensation. Amazing that it still sort of works at all, I hope there’s no pitting on the crownwheel, pinion or sun& planet gears. New pinion & crownwheel quite scarce & £££
Tiny bit of pitting on the crown wheel but usable
That “ball” will be the old filler plug!
Could be - wonder how it got into the nose if the pinion??
Happens to me..
The newness has definitely left the axle a wee while ago. Took some effort getting that bearing off. Is that object summit of of (as the kids would say) Sputnik 1?
The other side was worse! See why dummy bearings are needed to work out the shims!
Not got much experience with diffs Mike. What gives you the impression it has gone rusty?
Two song references in one video, it's keeping me on my toes.
It's had a lot of water in it but little oil - maybe it was drained and water got in via the axle tubes that were missing?
It has been in a miserable climate - the shock mounts and radius mounts are rotten
@@BritannicaRestorationsSorry Mike, that was me being sarcastic. It was clearly rusty!
Did it belong to Jacques Cousteau
Looks like it!
Comment of the week. Lovely old reference
Watching an old Bullseye last week - what was the name of Jacques Cousteau boat?
@@BritannicaRestorations calypso, have a look at what you woulda won
Yes, I got it right, but for a bonus of £30, and that's thirty pounds, can you tell me which singer had a song about the same boat...
