    Fun fact, if you want to use a different fill plug for a sals diff, you can use an lt95 brass fill plug and gasket.

    Floss out with ATF and refill with a good ep90 gl5 and it god for another 300KKm, It is Land Rover !! 😀

      Perhaps that should read, Flush out with ATF. I wouldn't want viewers to be flossing with ATF. You never know in this community.

    Water ingress from wading or a lot of condensation. Amazing that it still sort of works at all, I hope there’s no pitting on the crownwheel, pinion or sun& planet gears. New pinion & crownwheel quite scarce & £££

    The newness has definitely left the axle a wee while ago. Took some effort getting that bearing off. Is that object summit of of (as the kids would say) Sputnik 1?

      The other side was worse! See why dummy bearings are needed to work out the shims!

    Not got much experience with diffs Mike. What gives you the impression it has gone rusty?

      It's had a lot of water in it but little oil - maybe it was drained and water got in via the axle tubes that were missing?
      It has been in a miserable climate - the shock mounts and radius mounts are rotten
