- For all of those in the watch community chasing the same ol' hype pieces selling for way beyond retail price, I prescribe that you wear a G-Shock for a bit (no, I'm not a doctor, but as a self-proclaimed horologist I think I can legally get away with this). Why? Because they're just so damn fun! I was lucky enough to spend a week with the updated G-Shock CasiOak GA-B2100 and the amount of joy I experienced wearing one on my wrist far exceeded my expectations.

Love your video reviews Brandon. I'm a huge square fan but I didn't immediately fell in love with the CasiOak when it was first released - took me a bit of time to warm up to it but really like it. I also picked the yellow GA-B2100, which is what I'm wearing this morning. I think next we will see premium versions of the CasiOak.

Bought this exact one,and changed the strap and bezel for a black one,it's absolutely STUNNING now, pretty much my perfect watch!

Love my G-Shocks...
They are like the SNK-800 series. Cheap, but fun as hell. Watches is a new hobby to me, and my collection has probably grown too fast. But I find, that I like watch brands that have history and great design, and don't care about the snob or cost factor. I am a full fledged Seikopath, and just love their designs, and can afford them. I have all 4 colors of the SNK-800, I have my 4th Land Tortoise on the way, a Dress KX, Some Skagens I have from 20 years ago, and orient Kumasu, my grandfathers Longines, and my fathers 1970's UFO Seiko. I am really excited that I have the green version of this Casio on the way. Like my Seiko's, I just love the style of these watches. They are unique (I don't consider them a royal Oak inspiration). Ohh and I am going down the modding rabbit hole, and have all the parts from Namoki to build a 36mm explorer homage, and planning future builds. You can really go down a rabbit hole with this hobby.

I chose the blue version (GA-B2100-2A) because the yellow kind of hides the octagonal shape and seems round to my eyes

got the Yellow Casioak myself, on 35% discount. It is THE best color for this watch (also because this is the only one that has clearly visible white hour indices). Solar makes it virtually maintenance-free and bluetooth connection makes setting all function way easier and quicker than using tiny buttons on the watch itself. Everyone should have a CASIO Casioak in their collection!

Totally agree. I'm a G-Shock guy for sure. I replaced my beat-up DW5600E w/ a GWB5600BC this past winter, and I love it! It has every feature under the sun, and yet not too pricey, lightweight, and tough. It's a watch I can throw on and not think about until I need it. And it goes with everything since it's all black.
They took away the day indicator. You can display the day digitally but not with the date at the same time (I think).

Love the video! I will say that if I were to get a gshock, I’m very tempted to get this one. I like the fact that it’s on the thinner side, and the design is great.
I think its only competition is really other casios. Some of the Edifice line I think would appeal to people who are looking at this watch. Or maybe some of the larger citizens.
I have a few GA2100s. All red, all grey, white with black face, and the GMA2100 metal one. Got the yellow GAB2100 and it’s probably my favorite one. Fun retro vibe as the classic yellow DW5600

The resin material which is given a yellow color is very good, because the bezel is denser than the black color which easily stretches, but the yellow strap always makes a clicking sound...

Still not cooler than the square G's!!! I picked up a lime green "move." Only thing it is lacking is solar, which seems kind of crazy considering that it's meant to be paired to your phone for distance and step tracking ETC. But do I really care about swapping a battery once every two years? Nope.

Does the new Bluetooth 2100 straps and case fit the old 2100 ? The height of the case is 0.1 mm thicker in the new one but I don’t think that should stop it from fitting. Has anyone tried this ?

Can you still tell the day of the week on this updated version? That's in my opinion a lot more useful than knowing the power reserve or the mode you're in.

why do the hands on the YELLOW look bigger and better. I personally prefer the yellow, may be the premium colour had something to do with it being designed for the construction industry to begin with, before they then decided to add extra colours.
Just picked up the FC7, the party model that’s white with multicolors. Pretty pleased with my decision.

This watch is super squeaky. The resin is really bad. Felt like a cheap toy. Returned it because of that.

Nice overview, would have appreciated more info on the Bluetooth functionality. It also looks like this model loses the Day function, seems disappointing.

Great video and it gave me the courage to purchase the yellow even though my wife and kids told me I would look like a child. Maybe I do... but I love the watch, it's a mood brightener like this review. Also song was so familiar. Could it be an instrument version of of Flight of the Concordes "Inner City Pressure?"
Hey, I'm thinking to buy this watch and have a question- Can we set/change the time in watch itself instead of going through phone. I just want to use it like a normal watch without any connection to bluetooth. Will the time still keep up?
