  • In this video, a pair goblet is made from a eucalyptus branch from an Australian viewer using a wood lathe.
It's a cute design with a ring, so I'd be happy if you could see it till the end.

Hello and a very merry Christmas from Verdun France. I saw that eucalyptus wood with you made these beautiful cuts you received it. If you want, that spring will come and the weather will soften I can send you a piece of wood from the forests that surround the city of Verdun. Many of the trees in these woods are more than 100 years old. It means that these trees have experienced the horrors of the battlefields or have grown after on these lands. If you want to tell me what kind of wood to look for. I guess not all woods are compatible for this style of work. I would be happy to offer you a little piece of France especially since it comes from a historical place like Verdun on Meuse. Otherwise I'm on the charm watching how you made these cuts and especially the rings that adorn the foot of the cups. I've already told you that this is the first time I've seen such a fine wooden object that lets light through. It's also the first time I've seen how free rings are made. I'm really excited to have seen that. Thanks for your video and I'm waiting for you to tell me if you are interested in my offer. Of course, as I said before, I don't expect anything in return. If you make a video it will be more than enough for me. Have a very good New Year's Eve and I wish you a very good year 2021 with a lot of happiness and above all health. It's important these days. Gabriel (France).

Nice! May I make a suggestion? After the rings broke loose, tie them to one side with the tape and then turn the stem round (like a cylinder). Glue some sandpaper around it (or secure it with a rubber band). The cylinder part can then be used as a small drum sander. Turn the lathe on and hold the rings with the hand above the piece of sandpaper, rotate and so sand the undersides. Afterwards remove the sandpaper and turn the final form of the stem the way you did it in the video. Kind regards, and a blessed Christmas. (Oh - I am to late, hope you had one.)
