Something for potential buyers don't let the $6k stop you from looking. The Black Walnut table is $3525 at medium size. Where as Elm/Maple is $1350. Something like Elm/Maple will be around $3000 for the Table, Toppers, Topper Block, and accessories shown. I'd be difficult to hit $6000 going Elm/Maple even adding on many many accessories in those woods. Just something to keep in mind.
That’s a great point as well! I hope I didn’t seem like I thought the table is overpriced. I think it’s a great value. It may be expensive, but you definitely get what you pay for. And there are far cheaper options, especially if you just get a base table and wait to buy accessories till later
This is the one thing people need to consider when they pick their wood. My wife OK'd the purchase, and we can afford to go for the more expensive woods, but the accessories are where it will cost you. We both like the walnut, especially the rustic walnut (which is a bit cheaper). However, when you factor in all the accessories and the topper block, and you want to match woods (which we do), the walnut accessories are much more expensive than the elm. It will be even worse if you go with the exotics and want to match. We eventually decided to go with the rustic elm and use the savings over the rustic walnut to spend on more accessories.

Thank you for clarifying, that's a great point! Their ability to produce new tables has vastly improved, and watching the kickstarter updates, they have definitely worked hard to meet the demand. But seeing how the new KS already has over 5000 backers(wow!), I wanted to make sure people understand that they will be in for a bit of a wait :)
Most of the wait was due to them massively overestimating how much tables they could reasonably produce in a month. They presently ship ~400 tables per month. The initial kickstarter had waves in excess of 1000 backers (which may represent more than one table).
@@syntaxlost9239 I was on the original KS and watched while they opened that. don’t forget to mention the amazing finish which tends to resist scratching and denting and that the packaging was better than anything i’ve ever seen and that the topper block now has accessories that can be purchased to make it useful when not holding the toppers.
Once you pick a size the biggest part of the cost is the choice of wood. It's worth pointing out that you can mix and match your woods to control some of those costs (and add a little customization to your table). You can get the table in Walnut and the toppers in Wenge. You can mix and match any of the accessories the same way. I actually got most of my accessories in less expensive woods to keep the cost down. They still look great and have the same build quality. I got my table last month and I absolutely love it. It is well worth the cost. This is a piece of furniture I'll keep for a long time. I'm currently looking over the accessories being offered in the new Kickstarter to see what might work for how I'm using the table.
One of the biggest tips that Doug gave on the Wyrmwood channel about getting one of these tables was that it's a marathon, not a sprint. By the table first, and the accessories later or vice versa. No need to buy everything all at once. And that's exactly what I'm gonna do.
That is an excellent strategy. Starting with the base table and adding accessories is perfect. The only accessory I would say is a priority is the Topper Block if you’re getting toppers for your table. Without one, it’s likely that your toppers might get scratched
Great review! I appreciated that you include both good and bad experiences and offer advice on how to avoid the bad ones or what to expect. The only thing i think could be added is the starting price of the cheapest table, since wood selection has a big impact on it and the possibility for the table to grow in the future makes it easier to buy the smallest one if it is all you can afford

Awesome review of the table! I'm still waiting for mine to even be shipped from that first Kickstarter (International shipping was delayed several times). Really hope to get it soon!
I bought my small MGT on the website for the Black Friday 2023 promotion and received it at the start of July 2024, so quite a bit quicker than your two years. But the prices have only gone up every Kickstarter, so I guess I got mine at a good time, but not the best time. And I was lucky enough to have originally ordered in elm, which I was able to upgrade to cherry for free. Maybe I should've paid for the discounted upgrade to black walnut instead, but now I feel better going for all cherry accessories. And of course I love the table.

Always amzing how much people convince themselves how good Wyrmwood is to justify the price. Fact is, most quality wood workers will build an amazing table of better quality for far less. Most Wyrmwood is mass produced and it isn't anything special for build quality. Again, find a local wood worker and you can get a SIGNIFICANTLY better table at a FAR better price.
And can this phantom local woodworker guarantee the table will be compatible with everything else Wyrmwood offers? You're buying into an ecosystem here. Though I guess it's possible if you already have a small Wyrmwood table to point at and say "Make this but bigger."
@@triple_lei a good wood worker yes. But again, the ecosystem is MASSIVELY over priced in every respect. A table from wyrmwood with rails for pieces that will cost you $12-15k can easily be done for $4k with a good woodworker.

Woodworker here. That sounds like a BS rumor to me. 1. Plywood is more stable than solid wood and is often used where wood movement could be an issue (like drawer bottoms, dresser backs, etc). 2. The source of any bowing would be along the rails, not the bottom. While possible, I doubt this is a problem due to the design and thickness of those rails.
@@Anthony-H thank you for offering your input! That’s really interesting. I hadn’t known plywood is so strong, but to confirm what you said, the plywood base of the table is very sturdy.

That’s great feedback! I’ll definitely improve as I make more reviews and keep this in mind. For me, it has held up wonderfully. There are no noticeable scratches(I baby the hell out of it), the accessories all see some use. But I’d say the most are the cup holders by far, and the game deck for when I GM. The ones I use the least are probably the player desks(only a couple of my friends prefer them), and the charging accessory is great, but doesn’t see much use at my table, and I’ve found it’s easy to forget to charge the battery when it’s not in use. I hope that helps!
What I find funny, the more expensive wood types, are actually my least favourite wood types.. So to me, it seems counter that the woods I want the most are the cheapest... That NEVER happens normally.
My thought is that heirloom quality and build it yourself do not go together at all. My group commissioned a local furniture maker (well kinda local, 4 hours away) and we had a custom made solid cherry table ( 3.5' x 8') built with all the features of this table plus a few more for about 1/3 of the price. It's one solid piece of furniture that took a forklift to load into my trailer and 5 strong guys to get from the trailer into the house. I consider that to be a heirloom table. And since I picked it up, shipping was free. That said, the table itself here looks really nice. And as long as your happy with it, that's all that matters.
The toppers have gaskets to make it water resistant. Wyrmwood did a spill test themselves on Wyrmlife and only a couple drops made it into the vault itself.
Mine was the Wargaming. It’s a size from the original Kickstarter. It’s the wider width, but somewhere in between a medium and large in length. The closest equivalent of the new Kickstarter would be the Wide Large, or Wide Medium table.
They do. Which is a good way to store it, but I mostly have a game setup inside the vault when not in use. That is a good point that I should've brought up, thank you!
It's cool, but i get more satisfaction making my own stuff. It took a long time to get all the necessary tools, and now I'm lacking time of course. But most people aren't willing to drop quite as much money on tools, or have the time/knowhow and years of practise to work up to large scale and finely detailed projects. So honestly it's pricey, but to do similar yourself, you'll still approach the $1k mark in material costs alone, and be prepared to hit another 2-3k in the power tools you'll need to meet similar accuracy. So if you can afford it and have no interest in doing it yourself, I'd say it's worth it, as you would spend similar amounts or more on custom work, workout any of the features. You could do the entire thing with hand tools and drop your cost on tools down to under 1k, but i suggest those people take a block of wood, and try smoothing it down evenly with a hand planer. Then imagine doing that over several pieces, on both sides, to make a 6x4 foot or larger surface.
A medium might be a tight fit. TI takes up most of my table, but that’s with a little bit of breathing room. For a medium, I might recommend player desks for several of the players so they have more space. It’s not impossible, but it would be tight. I hope that helps :)
“Paying only a fraction to convert” is a massive overstatement and the reason they don’t list pricing on conversion kits is often times it’s only slightly cheaper than buying the large table to begin with. And I mean SLIGHTLY. Otherwise great video.
Wyrmwood had very limited shipping to Europe in the first KS, in the current one I think they have non. This has resulted in several simular products being developed by European furniture makers. These tables might be very good tables, but they are not Wyrmwood tables. So be awere of this.
one important note the new kickstarter does not include this size, the width (57") is still available but its just now an option with Mini (24" formerly liliput) Small (48) Medium (72) and Large (96)... and the 84" rails are no longer sold... as a someone that also got BW WG from the first run I'm slightly concerned if something were to happen to my rail I will have to change size instead of just replacing the rail
Yes, this table is in Black Walnut. I love the grain and texture. And the color is rich and vibrant. It’s in my basement as well, so there’s little exposure to UV light that would dull the color over time.
Bit of a critique on your review; it seems less "review" and more "here's a commercial for Wyrmwood's next Kickstarter campaign which you can go and back right now". I know you said you paid for your table, but there's certainly a lot of Kickstarter placement/promo scattered throughout your video.
That’s fair. I don’t have many criticisms of the product. I genuinely have loved it, and so that came across in the review. As far as talking about the Kickstarter, there’s a lot of new stuff that addressed a few of the issues that I had, so I wanted to make sure I talked about that. Thank you for your critique. I appreciate the input, and will try to improve on the next one. Cheers!
Don´t even consider Wyrmwood if you are not located in the US. International Backers have not receved their table yet from the last kickstarter. I paid close to 4000 dollars for a similar table that is in this video. Wyrmwood held my money for 2 years, and then tried to charge me 4500 dollars for shipping to Iceland. To add insult to injury, they could only refund me 90% after holding my money for 2 years. Shit Company.
You used the word bespoke to describe the table and then said the vault sets it apart from other gaming tables… You don’t know what bespoke means and you clearly don’t know the rest of the market you are talking about.
Thank you for your critique. Bespoke doesn’t necessarily fit this table, since they’re modular in design. It would be more suitable to describe the Prophecy line that they offer, which are made to order and personalized for each customer. It just sounded right when I said it. But fair point. The vault is certainly a staple of game tables, but if I could offer some correction, I said “the first feature that sets it apart from other tables” speaking about tables in general, not specifically game tables. Most tables(dining room in this case) do not have a vault. Thanks for your comment, I appreciate every bit of feedback.
i mean bespoke means customized and you can create a table here with a bunch of different customizations, so i'm gonna go ahead and say bespoke works just fine here. but you go ahead and pretend like you're superior.

Mine was the Wargaming. It’s a size from the original Kickstarter. It’s the wider width, but somewhere in between a medium and large in length. The closest equivalent of the new Kickstarter would be the Wide Large, or Wide Medium table.
Idon't have the cash to buy something this eccentric for wargaming but they are Sweet! Great vid man!
Wouldn’t each removable component fit inside the vault when not in use? As long as you it isn’t filled with a paused game I suppose
They do. Which is a good way to store it, but I mostly have a game setup inside the vault when not in use. That is a good point that I should've brought up, thank you!
If you spill something does it leak through to the play area?
Is it made in such a way that the liquid won't drop down into the game area if somebody spills a drink when it's set as a dinner table?
Yes. It has built in gaskets that make it spill resistant, but NOT spill proof.
How much space does TI4 take on your table? Do you think a standard medium MGT would fit a TI game?
What are the dimensions of your Wyrmwood table?
It is a Wargaming table. The outer dimensions are 57”x84”. The interior vault dimensions are 49”x76.5” :)
one important note the new kickstarter does not include this size, the width (57") is still available but its just now an option with Mini (24" formerly liliput) Small (48) Medium (72) and Large (96)... and the 84" rails are no longer sold... as a someone that also got BW WG from the first run I'm slightly concerned if something were to happen to my rail I will have to change size instead of just replacing the rail
Is that black walnut?
yes
Yes, this table is in Black Walnut. I love the grain and texture. And the color is rich and vibrant. It’s in my basement as well, so there’s little exposure to UV light that would dull the color over time.
What size is this table?
Thank u for the video
It's like i hear me reading sleeping stories to my kids
Cheers!
ya no1's gonna spend 7k on a board game table then say "no i regret it".
Nope.
Not paying $6000 for a friggin table.
Huzzah
A fool and zir's money are soon parted.
Hideously overpriced
You all got a lot of disposable income. Nice table but its a bit much.
Wyrmwood = overpriced gaming equipment made by stoners
You used the word bespoke to describe the table and then said the vault sets it apart from other gaming tables…
You don’t know what bespoke means and you clearly don’t know the rest of the market you are talking about.
@robandtina man, way to be a douche lol
i mean bespoke means customized and you can create a table here with a bunch of different customizations, so i'm gonna go ahead and say bespoke works just fine here. but you go ahead and pretend like you're superior.
