Well done review and love the table! I ordered a large wide MGT about a month ago and was also surprised at the lack of review video's so thank you for making it.
Hey Chris - Great video - I also happen to agree that Hex is where it's at :-) I know WW has now discontinued the RPG tracking system, but I'm not going to lie, it's a thrill for me to see them setup on your table. I hope they make DND a little more fun. It's funny because I have a custom vertical holder on Durin's Anvil that I use for my tiles too and it looks like you guys have come up with a vertical holder as well - I think that's a better design, but one of many that got cut in the rollout....thx
Nice seeing you Scott! I didn't even realize they discontinued the tiles...I need the rest of the classes!! 😱 Now I have to scramble to find them or beg wyrmwood to sell any stock they have left. I like this design for the tiles because I've made it so you can slip a small card on that colored metal plate on the top of the tiles as a "status bar" ie conditions, boons, and stuff like world effects. The tiles allow me to run a 100% note taking free dnd experience, everything else is on a card! Thank you for inventing the tiles they are so helpful. The DM tiles are still on sale so I should get those for my dm space
If the component holder pointed the other direction on was symmetrical you could move it to the left side and probably be fine. Or move the cupholder to the left side.
I'm pondering getting one myself, and keep looking around to see if there's enough room internally for a 48"x48" square; for those 4x4 smaller-scale wargames that may take a while and I don't want the cat to get at while we're on hiatus XD
Thanks for the great review - hit a lot of important points. How is it for leg room/ space with a full table? Do you have any more thoughts on it after owning it for a few months?
Leg room is totally fine with a full table, not an issue at all. Since this video my maple table has been through some patina and I'm very happy with how the wood goldens out. No regrets, loving it totally!
@robertheagy925 leg space is totally fine and I've never felt cramped. Getting in and out feels fine. As said the table is larger than you'd expect so this also goes for the leg room. The standard dining height makes it a very familiar experience to sit at.
My biggest concern keeping me from a hex table is the 6 legs. I have friends on the larger side that I’d be worried about feeling claustrophobic in-between the legs. Do you have any thoughts now 5 months out about if it feels tight in the chair sitting at the table? Or if you got 6 friends loading up the sides?
@TheSoling27 I built the table myself so it's likely just me moving through the process a little too quickly. None of that bothers me so I leave it as is.
Can you show how a bigger game like Nemesis or Cthulhu Wars would look like? I'm debating if i'm taking this one because of style or if i go with the regular/or wide rectangular table later this year. :)
I don't have those games, but I looked up the board sizes and they both fit inside the vault. But Cthulu wars is 6 to 8 players so with this table doing 6 people max you'd be limited in that way.
thanks for the quick response, yeah, i eventually might stick to the rectangular, but the hex looks really unique, if they would offer it a bit bigger it would be cool. edit: Cthulhu Wars can even be played up to 11 players with the biggest map, but i will never get above 6/7 players because the sweet spot for the game is around 5, maybe 6 tough choice
@@DriveupLife22 thanks for the reply, really appreciated it. I find it hard to picture in my head and feared the elbows would be crowding if you actually set 6 places down with cutlery etc.
Great review. Thanks

Really appreciate you covering this!
Thank you for this! I’m still debating this table while the kickstarter is up for the next couple days. This is super helpful
Happy to help

@TheSagaOfGregGetsRekt way too big. 36x36 is the biggest square you can do in the vault.
@@DriveupLife22 Well drat. Now I know! Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the review, ordered my table in Feb You have a link to the wyrnwood discord?
how do you feel about the leg space? specifically getting into and out of the chair. a center support seems easier but the table will be less stable.

@@DriveupLife22 thanks. I also think a hex table is the most suitable size for games. But was worried about getting up and down.

Looking at the joint tolerances -- at the joints -- seems larger -- should they not be tighter -- have you talked to them about that?

tough choice
Do you find the vault too deep? I'm fairly short - 5 foot 3 and I'm concerned about having to lean in so far to reach my games.
The vault feels perfect to me. Anyone who's sitting at the right height can easily reach the center.
Could 6 people dine at this table? Or too crowded?
@RedDiomedes Yes, you put the toppers on and it would fit a large dinner for 6

The only thing to make it better would be an optional lazy susan to spin the board around!
It's not out of the realm of possibility, the bottom wood is just heavy duty plywood, a mod could be made to rotate game boards.
