@@janszymankiewicz801 So for I have been able to get most parts at the stores, even though I have to wait a week sometimes. They're not too expensive either. I also get some from ebay or Amazon sometimes.
Those were really sweet back in the day. When I had my spec v i went to get my windows tinted and the guy had a prelude like that one all decked out it was lime green and he let me drive it. What a sweet car. Nice review.
The engine choices were incorrect. The S model is the 2.2, the Si is 160 HP, 2.3L NON VTEC, then the VTEC model went back to a 2.2L and has 190HP available in 93-96
Love mine 20 years ago I had a white 1996 Prelude Si. I now recently found and bought a 1996 Prelude S in red in excellent condition. It has only 187,000 miles and everything is stock. I posted a quick video on my channel because I actually bought it for my son.
I got one, the same exact color, it's a 95 SR-V, came with the H22A1, 5 Speed Manual Transmission, Power Windows, Power Door Locks, Power Mirrors, Heated Black Leather seats. It's sitting in storage outdoor at the moment, with rust on the rear quarter panel. I'm trying to get it on the road this year, so I can drive it as a Winter beater.
There are plenty of aftermarket exhaust kits for the prelude, that sound really good. Much deeper, throatier tones, this sounds like a $60 autozone/Ebay tin can thrown on there. Does a disservice to that car. Awesome review though!
Just did the oil cooler hoses on mine. First i thought it was just the heater hose which had a hole in it from the valve cover gasket, fixed that. Just take the airbox out and the hose is not too bad to install. But then 2 days later is sprang another leak, it was dripping coolant onto the exhaust. I got a new thermostat, and water outlet gasket and threw em in, because the water outlet was leaking now. That did not fix it. Got my metal ramps, they were too tall so i jacked it up and put a jackstand, that felt too sketchy because it was uneven ground. So i went and bought some shorter ramps and that worked, but then wished i had taller ramps. So the oil pan is 3in from my face and oil and coolant ran down my longsleeve shirt, and i got oil in my mouth from biting on a flashlight with oil on it, because it had oil on it. This engine is drenched in oil, and grimy with spiderwebs. The oil cooler was plugged with gunk in one of the male end coolant tubes, so i scraped it out with a pick and sprayed it out with brakleen. Let it dry, put a new gasket on it and put new hose a and hose b on. The stock coolant hose clamps were impossible to get back on, tried all the tools i could think of to get them on, but it was really hard to get leverage because there was no room. Wish i had my own lift. Really hard to pull old hoses off and then put new, tighter hoses on, and the clamps were slipping out of the jaws of my special cable clamp pliers. Tried channel locks, vise grips, pliers, couldnt get it. This was so fuckin frustrating i had to take some breaks. Getting rides to and from oreillys autozone and napa. Gave up trying to put the stock ones on, dabated if i should try new oem clamps, and possibly have the same problem, or get some shitty chinese worm clamps from napa, that arent meant for heater hoses or coolant hoses. They cut into em overtime. I went with the ladder. I just wrapped some gorilla tape around the hose first, said hopefully that will help. I was careful tightening them. Its been a week, no more coolant leaks yet.
I am the original owner of a stock 93 Prelude. Same color as this but in much better condition. It is a Prelude SR and I never see this model mentioned. Why is that?
Prelude 4th gen or a 5th gen accord, what platform was better handling and comfortable too drive? Looking for my first project.. love both accord's and preludes,
I think the Prelude is the better driver's car, but that's just my opinion. The 4th gen had good weight distribution for a FF car, double wishbone suspension, and looks better (personal preference). The accord is good, but I don't think it's more fun than a prelude.
They share suspension and chassis and engines in top spec (Accord Si-R) the accord is more comfortable for 3, even 4 people to ride in. The prelude, the backseats are for children. It’s a shortened and widened chassis of the accord. A lot of parts are interchangeable as well. The prelude comes with an H22 in VTEC and Si VTEC models. Other models are F22 (same as accord but different ecu tuning) or H23 non VTEC. Choose the one you like best. I’ve had 2 5th gen accords. They have electrical problems that are beginning to arise (we’ve noticed in the Honda community over the last 6-8 years) the North American models did not receive the H22 but a swap is very easy and basically plug and play as they came with H22 in Japan. They handle exceptionally well. My coupes could handled the same twisty roads my E46 328ci could. A few suspension mods could really turn it into a canyon carver and offer more steering feedback and feel. The prelude is a precision handling machine, the accord is a grand touring car (best comparison). The accord can be a fun GT coupe but the prelude will always out perform it.
Are these reliable? I found a 1994 Honda prelude with 132k miles, looks pretty clean but I am not sure how reliable these cars are. A response would be much appreciated
@@trevors5309 so I decided to purchase it and my God I am so glad I did! Literally everyone compliments my car everyday 😂 although it's automatic, it's an amazing car to drive
exactly, the f20a was in the base model s, the si was equipped with the blacktop h23a1 as seen in the video. The VTEC Edition of this generation of prelude is the h22 series, making the ~190hp.
Awsome video i have a 93 prelube and i want to bring it back to live however i do need to find the part does anybody know a good location where to get those parts?
I own a 92 5th gen prelude, theyre very fun and zippy and the dash is so cool but man i cant get behind the fwd. If this car was rwd it would be a really sweet rig for drifting.but I see it as a fun commuter
Worst design is the downpipe is the lowest part under the car. When you bottom out; the downpipe gets crushed and it broke my OEM cast iron header, and my SS header. So headers get destroyed if you bottom out. Welds crack! All of the electronics break. My Prelude is almost not worth fixing. I had to repair all electronics, and the ABS pump needs rebuilt. Worst part is it don't even have 200hp, and it don't run 14s like my 3000GT did. I pitty any parent that buys a 25 year old car for their child with fully blown suspension bushings, and no ABS, or power steering. These Preludes are antiques now. Children do not need to own them. Too much work for a child in school.
I'd guess that the Prelude never wished to have an available hybrid motor with a CVT like the 8-generation Civic. Probably it committed suicide before Honda had a chance to destroy its reputation.
Get u an fg2 north American car of the year has only been awarded twice to Honda Civic 2006 and 2022.. get you an 8th gen or an 11th gen if you want the best Honda Civics ever made

No reason to get a 5th when the lighter 4th exists and has a h22 too.
As you can see.

This is the only car I have and want to have. It was a very nice video. Thank you.
Love the 4 gen, My first car. Had the slowest S type...2.2 but hey looking great.
At least that trim had the best mileage out of the four
it’s true it’s not often you find a prelude that isn’t heavily modified or doesn’t have 200,000 miles on it
I totally agree that the frs/brz were made in the image of the fourth gen Prelude . I’m glad you said it because I’d been thinking the same thing
