    I’m amazed by you! Your parents are so blessed to have such a hardworking son! I can see that they work hard too. I really am enjoying your videos. I can’t believe you don’t have more followers. I found you while googling “How to pack when you have a lot of stuff?” And your series of videos is encouraging, but then I see that you have a homestead. Double blessing. I mainly follow off grid, self sufficient, homesteading channels. I haven’t watched all your videos yet but I hope you will do some regular vlog about your farm. Blessings...

      Hi Renee, thanks for watching all my videos I'm so glad you liked them! I was actually considering doing some vlogs on the farm but I didn't think anyone would find them interesting, but now that you do I will probably do that soon. I usually only upload about once a month because the time lapse videos I make take a long time, but vlogs could allow me to upload more often and show things on the farm that I can't show in time lapses.

    I watched this whole series just over the past day and I agree with a lot of the comments, why so much stuff? But I will say this, your son is a rock star in all of this and deserves a raise!

      Thanks for watching! We just didn't get rid of much stuff at our old house and living there for 15 years before moving means we accumulated much more stuff than we could have ever imagined. Even the cleanup process we did didn't touch some of the stuff at the far back of cupboards or bottoms of boxes so when we moved we were overwhelmed, but it was too late to cancel or anything so we just made it work, and it made an interesting video series!

    • @manlyminnesotan
      @manlyminnesotan 6 років тому +2

      Yea, I know what you mean. I have been in the same house for 13 years and we are selling next spring. I'm already dreading the packing process... But, my wife and I have started to go through things now instead of waiting to pack, so hopefully that will simplify the move!

    • @joshuareynolds5219
      @joshuareynolds5219  6 років тому +2

      Starting now is a great idea instead of waiting a few months before the move like we did, it will make the process so much easier.

      @@joshuareynolds5219 Great advice. We are downsizing from a 3200 Sq ft house to an RV, and it took us a month to declutter 75 percent of our 24 years of accumulated belongings. It's a process. Your videos make me wish I had recorded our work!

      I totally know what you mean about seeing the nice clean house filled with our old house's stuff, however after 4 years of living here we are settled in pretty well and actually the majority of stuff in our house we use regularly. Maybe a couple boxes in the closets that aren't used, but its a night and day difference from our old house. This video is a bit confusing for someone who isn't here, because we unloaded stuff into the pole barn, garage, and the house which are all detached. Of course the stuff we actually use was put in the house while everything else we dumped in the other buildings, but I've done several organizing sessions since then and have gotten it pretty well under control.

    Two things (so far, a quarter of the way through the video): I love your kitchen! So much cabinet space. I love to cook and that would just be a dream. Also, I winced for your guys' knees cleaning those floors. I wanted to loan you my Swiffer Wet jet. lol
    Ok lastly (just finished) that sun room with the windows all around and nothing trees and green and light outside: I want nothing more from life and my future home

    Does your family have a home business, or do you guys just have a bunch of stuff? I noticed a million bottles and computers, so it looked like it could be a home business. Otherwise, WHY so much stuff? I see that you guys cleaned out a lot of stuff before the move, but there is still just so much stuff.

    • @joshuareynolds5219
      @joshuareynolds5219  7 років тому +26

      This video is sort of a demonstration of what not to do when moving because of the excess quantities of stuff. We do have a home business involving those bottles and computers but a lot of the stuff that you saw is not necessary to have and a lot of what you saw was my stuff. It always seems like it would be easy to get rid of stuff when I watch these videos, but when I actually look though the stuff, I always think of uses for each item which causes me to not want to get rid of it, it is a bad habit.

      When I moved from a place I had lived in for 28yrs I had a tough time. But one of my co-workers said to me, if it is still good but it is cluttering your life then someone else who can only buy used stuff will get more use, after all you have it in a box going unused. I got rid of a whole bunch of stuff, books donated to the library dishes, kitchenware in triplicate, all the excess went to charity stores. It felt so good to not have to deal anymore.

    Why do you have carpets when the floor looks so nice?

    • @joshuareynolds5219
      @joshuareynolds5219  6 років тому +3

      Thanks for watching. The texture of the wood floors do look nice but the problem is that the wood is softer than anything I had seen before. I had dropped my phone before and the dent is big enough to see from far away, and furniture can leave literal holes in the floor, so we just put carpets over most of the wood.

    I'm freaking out this is my first home and I'm still unpacking how long does it take

    • @joshuareynolds5219
      @joshuareynolds5219  7 років тому +5

      +Brandi Sodemann It really depends on how much stuff you have and to what extent you want to organize stuff into your new house. If you have a lot of stuff like we do, it could take several months. It probably took longer than it otherwise would because I always was setting up a camera in every place we were unpacking and most people probably won't do that! I uploaded this video 6 months after arriving at the new house so we had unpacked most things, but it really took several more months to feel like we were fully occupying the house because of continual small changes we made. I hope the rest of your unpacking process goes well and when you were done it will be such a relief that you won't think about how much time it took.

    • @joshuareynolds5219
      @joshuareynolds5219  6 років тому +1
