Wow! Mason dropped some big cash for these parts! I bought Cogent MOAB shock for my 06' gen 1 no better shock...for the money. Looking forward to the fork fix vidieo!
I put a Moab shock and Progressive fork springs in my old 2010 KLR I had and it made a big difference in the ride. You will love it! I love having a heated shop to get all our bikes maintained over the winter and ready to ride in spring. Thanks for the videos!
You allways make it look easy when you do mechanic on your bike. And fun to watch. See you next sunday. Take care and have an Happy Easter. Stay safe, run safe, my friend. Cheers.
When I see out of place colors on parts, the first thing I think is....there is some bad-ass aftermarket parts on there! With the types of trails you ride, I am sure you'll be in heaven with the new suspension!
You my friend are most capable. You dive shoulder deep into the suspension without any fear. I don't know if I'll ever be at that level of a tech but it sure is fun to watch you do it. This looks like a most capable system. Thanks for showing it to us! Don
Well, I like to say I was pressed into service at an early age ;) Old Mason had me wrenching and repairing equipment as soon as I could hold a wrench, lol. I'm certainly not a professional mechanic but I can get by :) Cheers Don!
cogent does a good job there about 3 hr from my house when he was still working out of his house i had him do some work on my front forks on a dr650 i had it was a world of difference off road thanks for sharing
Hey Mason, been watching you for about a year, you've been an inspiration. I'm glad you got this setup, I've been eyeing the same exact setup for my 15' KLR, but coming in at close to $2,000(or roughly 1/3 what the entire bike costs to buy new!!) it's a tough pill to swallow Maybe if it was green! Looking forward to the review and recommendation to purchase or not. Thanks for the great content!
Hey AT. I really struggled with that too but in the end I figured that it really was the part I didn't pay for at the dealer. They throw on a set to get you going with a low cost motorcycle but it's up to us to build them up from there. I also think that the price is reasonable in the world of custom built suspension. Cheers :)
Dont be TOO TOUGH on Scratch...he will probably be breaking down and doing his suspension in the middle of the summer. Nice video, thanks for sharing. Happy Easter my friend.

Nice! It was a circle of motivation. Your video motivated me to do the suspension linkage which in turn got you wrenching on the new cogent stuff. Man that stuff looks awesome!
Gday Mason ADV,WOW top shelf suspension, looking forward to the front end and your test ride, Happy Easter,Godbless and Love and havagreatweek thanks for the vid,Bruce and Jackie Pinewernying WA
You're gonna love it! My shock only needed a click or two and was set. I got the standard Moab, that preload adjuster on yours is sweet! The forks are so much better as well, it feels like a different bike. Looking forward to hearing your impressions.
The front end on my ‘08 dives like crazy. The sag in the back is disturbing. I need a full suspension upgrade. You have experience on the progressive springs. Cogent is a significant investment. I could redo both shocks for the price of the Cogent front suspension kit so... no pressure, Cogent. :-)
Yeah that's typical with the stock suspension. I found that a heavier weight oil in the front helped but nothing like what this setup has done for it :)
👍 looks great, it will be interesting how big of a difference it makes. I’m doing the same upgrades with progressive springs & shock on my 07 wish I could afford that setup VERY NICE! Happy Easter 🐣
Steve! your comment was sent to spam for some reason. No idea why. Let me know how the progressive works for you. I hear good things about them too. Cheers!
Hi Mason, great howto vlog. Love how you refer to owners manual for torque specs. You are not afraid to tackle some big projects. Hats off and thanks for sharing. My V-strom is looking great at the dealership but l am really excited to get out and ride. Lots of spring rain hear in the Sault area but if your thinking about a trip up into Northern Ontario drop me a hello.
So cool. I have been debating the Cogent suspension versus an upgraded springs as my weight greatly exceeds the design point for rider weight on the KLR. Can't wait for the front end and ride report videos. Did Cogent throw in the roll of Life savers? Happy Easter.
They sure did! Best lifesavers I've had 🤣 Something like this is perfect because they build it for you specifically. Makes a big difference. Even the shocks off the shelf that have compression damping (and there aren't many) are generic builds. Pick your weight of coil and that's it. Cheers.
I got the same setup last year all $2000 and worth every penny! Mason, whether you know it or not you just transformed your bike into a completely different machine night and day difference my friend looking forward to the future vids
Great to hear! The sag for me solo or in light trim, was spot on. Couldn't believe it. I can't leave anything alone though so I will proceed to make things worse, then bring them back to where they set them :D haha. Cheers

They will walk through a set of questions about how you ride, where you ride, weights, and suspension preferences then build and ship your custom setup 👍

Thanks Cort! Congrats on the Cogent suspension! You will love it :) Our bikes don't have the emissions equipment on them up here so it's not something i'm very familiar with, sorry. I'm sure there is lots of info on the KLR forums though. Try there :) Cheers!

Fantastic video as always Mason. I look forward to your video upgrading the front shocks. You have a way of making it look so easy when you tear down the bike. That said, I’ve got two questions for you. Q1. The manual you were using to find the torque specs for the bolts does that come with the KLR when you purchase it or is it an aftermarket manual? Q2.
