    I put a Moab shock and Progressive fork springs in my old 2010 KLR I had and it made a big difference in the ride. You will love it!

    When I see out of place colors on parts, the first thing I think is....there is some bad-ass aftermarket parts on there! With the types of trails you ride, I am sure you'll be in heaven with the new suspension!

    Hey Mason, been watching you for about a year, you've been an inspiration. I'm glad you got this setup, I've been eyeing the same exact setup for my 15' KLR, but coming in at close to $2,000(or roughly 1/3 what the entire bike costs to buy new!!) it's a tough pill to swallow Maybe if it was green! Looking forward to the review and recommendation to purchase or not. Thanks for the great content!

    • @masonsadv
      @masonsadv  5 років тому +4

      Hey AT. I really struggled with that too but in the end I figured that it really was the part I didn't pay for at the dealer. They throw on a set to get you going with a low cost motorcycle but it's up to us to build them up from there. I also think that the price is reasonable in the world of custom built suspension. Cheers :)

      The front end on my ‘08 dives like crazy. The sag in the back is disturbing. I need a full suspension upgrade. You have experience on the progressive springs. Cogent is a significant investment. I could redo both shocks for the price of the Cogent front suspension kit so... no pressure, Cogent. :-)

    • @masonsadv

    So cool. I have been debating the Cogent suspension versus an upgraded springs as my weight greatly exceeds the design point for rider weight on the KLR. Can't wait for the front end and ride report videos. Did Cogent throw in the roll of Life savers? Happy Easter.

    • @masonsadv
      @masonsadv  5 років тому

      They sure did! Best lifesavers I've had 🤣 Something like this is perfect because they build it for you specifically. Makes a big difference. Even the shocks off the shelf that have compression damping (and there aren't many) are generic builds. Pick your weight of coil and that's it. Cheers.

    Great job Masons! As always! Got a question: I'm about to invest in a Top Gun rear shock for my '14. Can you share with us how satisfied you were with the Top Gun, knowing that you've replaced it with this Cogent kit? You may have already answered somewhere, if so I missed it. Thanks!

    • @masonsadv
      @masonsadv  5 років тому

      The Top Gun coil certainly bridged the gap in the finances 😄 It was a big improvement to the carrying capacity of the KLR but It doesn't address the shock limitations. Going to a proper replacement unit like the Cogent Moab or Moab pro is the real deal. The spring rate and shock are designed to work together and the whole unit is custom built to your needs.

    Fantastic video as always Mason. I look forward to your video upgrading the front shocks. You have a way of making it look so easy when you tear down the bike. That said, I’ve got two questions for you.
    Q1. The manual you were using to find the torque specs for the bolts does that come with the KLR when you purchase it or is it an aftermarket manual?
    Q2. I’m still bike-less, I had a deal for a used ‘15 KLR go south on me last year and the local bike shop in Fairbanks is unwilling to negotiate their asking price of $6495 for a new ‘17 KLR. So, should I cave and pay the asking price or work with a dealer in the lower 48 where I know I can get the bike cheaper but then I have to ship it up to Fairbanks.
    What do you recommend?

      Thanks :)
      The manual is a Clymer (Aftermarket. The shop manual is pricey) and I have a link in the store here: www.amazon.com/shop/masonsadv
      As for the bike, What the dealers have is all they are going to get so I don't think you will see much price drop. Have you looked into buying one in British Columbia? That would have to be closer for you and you will save almost 30 points with the exchange. Just a thought. Good luck with the search! Cheers :)

    Like someone said below, over $2000 on a bike that's probably worth $4500 right now. Ewwwwwwwww. That's a tough one. Course that may be why I see some guys trying to sell 2015's for $7k.

      Hard to buy a bike for 6500 that's completely set up to go anywhere :)

    Maybe I'll go with this one instead of the Progressive one. You should get a commission. :-)

      500? It sure was more than that but it has completely changed the bike and now I can ride it like I always wanted too ;) Best money spent to date! Cheers.

    Gosh Damn that's half the cost of my bike. When I add mods I look at if and when I sale can I recoup some of the money that I put in it.
