thanks so much for this. A few days ago I thought i'd try open d as Ive been learning some slide this past week. I'm well versed in dadgad so open d felt like home right away and I found that I knew where I was going right away. Amazing grace came very quickly but I was struggling some with the slide and mostly just fingerpicking it with a little slide thrown in. I also noticed I could sing will the circle be unbroken to the same melody. Now Ive got something to follow along to today. Thanks!
Very nice please are you the same person by name John Curtis Piano this is really a beautiful guitar video I'm going to use this as my first guitar slide lesson. Thank you from t. a. awua larteh ghana.
It’s all good, just easier in D because of the open tuning. Yes, there are open tunings for those keys. You could play it in those keys in this tuning but I’d have to retire to the wood shed for a bit.
Denee Ray I do have a tab for this, but no tutorial in the works. If you are interested in the tab ($10), email me at- johncurtisstudio@gmail.com thanks.- john
Tabs are a simple way of writing down music for fretted instruments. It consists of horizontal lines that represent the strings and numbers on the lines representing what fret you place your finger on. It’s been around a long time.
Unless you live north of Boston, I don’t think I can teach you. I do have a tab of this if you’re interested. I charge $10. You can contact me at : johncurtisstudio@gmail.com. Thanks

Always sing the tune if you can. It’s the best way to link up your fingers with what you hear in your head. Good luck!

It’s all good, just easier in D because of the open tuning.
Yes, there are open tunings for those keys. You could play it in those keys in this tuning but I’d have to retire to the wood shed for a bit.
Any chance you'll do a tutorial for this arrangment?
