ein grossartiger Schauspieler, der von Amfortas bis zum Barbier alles perfekt darstellen kann.Ich danke ihm, dass
er mit die Quarantäne erträglich macht.

Without a doubt a baritone. He sings clear and does not use technique to sound darker. A clear, robust sound that cuts above the Orchestra without difficulty in the baritone range.
This is, for me, the best interpretacion...gorgeous voice, fantastic orchestre...I just love it
his acting though...
@@philippaldowieser1942 The stage direction is to blame for that. Mattei is an excellent actor as those of us who have seen him in more rational productions can attest. And the voice is of course unmatched.
Every time I listen to him he surprises me, because his version is always my favourite! ( his Don Giovanni!)

Sehr gut interpretiert- er hat es sich nicht leicht gemacht, sondern er trat komplett für die Komposition in den Hintergrund und lieh Wagner's Stück einfach sein volles Gefühl und auch stimmlichen Können. Herrlich!

I saw this in Berlin last year - just wonderful. My eyes were full of tears. His voice is really something extra!!
Peter Mattei understands the beauty and power of the body to convey emotion. See how he moves towards the end, as if he is dancing with her. See how he prostrates himself at her shoes. This is such a moving interpretation of this piece. I've seen him in so many roles, and he never disappoints.
This is just BEYOND EVERYTHING!!! Pure beauty.....
Eine Stimme zum Niederknien. Die ganze Oper (Barenboim, Staatskapelle Berlin) alleine wegen diesem "Wolfram" Pflicht.

The staging is pretty bad but OMG that voice! He truly is one of a kind. I've watched entire operas only because he's in them if only for a short time.

The singing is beautiful but I would like to see more of the production as the aria out of context makes little sense. I lean towards regie productions but I have seen my share of bizarre concepts.
This is an artist performing. You have a lot of nerve placing captions and credits on his screen.
