the fact that these manufacturers who are bragging how their new line of cars are factory equipped with such and so. where in reality they simply offer a lot of crap. i was totally amazed how you are dealing with such problems and delivering such remarkable results, not to mention how meticulous you are paying attention with the details. i'm guessing that nobody here in my county can do what you can, and so having your kind of such equipment. and your keen knowledge on top of it all. respect.
Great video you are one of the few people who knows exactly what they are talking about I like how even though you are experience you still refer to wiring diagram.
This video gave me the confidence I need to know that I have no business trying to upgrade my Accord. Maybe the speakers. Good video, thumbs up definitely.
i have a 2017 Acura TLX base model. I really want to put some great components in it but this video shows exactly why I haven't...yet.. there is hardly any info on the internet on how to do it. This video is the closest i've seen. Thanks 5 Star! You guys are the best installers on YT
FYI to everyone wanting to integrate a DSP and aftermarket amps into one of the premium audio system Honda vehicles: Metra Axxess now has an amp bypass solution called the AXDSPX-HN3. I actually bought this item from Five Star Car Stereo and will be integrating such into my 2020 Honda Insight. A video will be posted on my other channel when complete.
you don't think it will mess up the insight's electronics if you add any aftermarket amps/processors etc? where will you get your power, straight from the battery?
Seinfeld Costanza it won’t mess with it any more then with any other vehicle. You connect your amps to the 12 volt battery just as you would any other vehicle.
@@jamesyu4182 I don’t know and I no longer have this unit installed. Unfortunately it caused a lot of echo issues with the hands free calling and could not be remedied. It is my advice to avoid attempting such in any of the Honda vehicles with digital amps.
I love you guys! Thanks for explaining everything in depth! I wish more videos on youtube would be this good for different situations! Keep up the good work guys! Your knowledge is monumentally valuable.
My 2011 Buick Regal came with the Harmon Kardon 9 speakers system. I changed the doors to 2 ohm JBL stadiums 6.5 coaxials, 6x9s in rear, a JL 3.5 center channel added kicker kxA800.1 amp with a JL 12w6v3 sub. Took me two days.
Thanks for educating me on not buying a Honda with this kind of system. Man, it got complicated right after he showed the digital input on the amplifier. It's getting to a point where cars now a days can't be touched unless you're a professional
Think of how many shops actually go through this process to install an awesome system. A low percentage would be my guess. With vehicles getting more and more complex in their audio manipulation, I would hope someone would/could form a help site for installers to diagnose and log these audio manipulations. It would save so much time for installers and system performance if everything was mapped out and shared with the installer community as well as the DIYers. Now I got to figure out what to do with my Accord.
This was a great video, and so true to what actually happens... Thank you for your time and effort! By any chance is there a video on how you guys created those amp racks in the trunk?
Crossovers are supposed to cross at -3db. That's not a problem or a mistake, it's how they work. If they're crossing the mid and tweeter at say, 3500Hz, then the high pass on the tweeter will cut the power from slightly above 3500 to -3db at the setpoint and the low pass on the woofer will do the same but opposite, which means the speakers are both 3db down at the crossover point. The reason this is done is so that the two drivers will sum back up to 0db, since both are contributing to the output at and near the setpoint. Obviously, we sometimes get a huge suckout or peak at the crossover point, owing to the hostile nature of vehicle cabins. But that's why we have EQ...
I wished I would have made the trip to Florida to have Five Star install my JL audio speaker system. My install installed a JL audio Fix-86 DSP ,JL Amp 4- component speakers 4- JL tweeters and a sub . Sounds great “but”
Man I wish you guys were in Maryland. I'd love to have you install a nice system in my accord. Last car audio place I went to was terrible. They charged a ton of money and did terrible work. It turned me off from ever having someone else work on my car stereo.
Thank you so much for this video, you make the job for me very easy. Now I know how to stat to integrate some new components on the car. Muchas gracias.
This is simply amazing! I have a 2019 Honda civic SI with a similar (same?) 10 speaker system. I know I would need to test this but I wonder if the front tweeters would also need to be inverted to be summed with the front woofers?
Just purchased a 2020 Accord Touring with the 10 speaker premium system, and was looking to upgrade sound quality a little nothing crazy just better quality sound. What should I budget to have this done at my local shop? What would a professional shop like yourself quote? I wanted a baseline to ensure my local shop won’t rip me off. Thanks in advance.! Great video.
I have a 2019 accord touring 2.0 I guess it has the same audio setup can you make a list of everything I need like the main things such etc.. amp or amps idk and all the other components besides the speakers obviously I just going to put an 8inch n just want a little more base than it has that’s all nothing crazy
Question 5star.... ima replace factory with 6.5 jbl from amazon...and seen JBL GTO609C 270 Watts 6-1/2" Premium Car Audio Component Stereo Speaker System....will this work for 2019 accord sport 1.5????
I had this done on my 2019 accord sport. Had to put in a DSR1 signal processor inside the dash to convert the line level speaker wires from factory head unit down to RCAs that the amps can use. I recommend having it done professionally, it's a massive amount of work on this car... My one other tip is make sure they disconnect the ANC or you'll get a weird humming sound.
Was taking the OEM sub output necessary? Didn't the front mid-range provide enough of the low signal? It looked like the tweeter and mid-range when summed provided a full signal.
If they are very high quality factory speakers such as a Mark Levinson system in a Lexus especially with digital inputs on the amp, just do nothing more than adding a subwoofer otherwise leave it alone. If you plan to put in aftermarket system shortly after buying a car, do your research if it has digital crap in it that audio control does not yet have a solution for. Cars that come with CarPlay especially if the factory radio comes with a 192KHz 24 but DAC, an aftermarket head unit is a waste of money and not worth doing. In older cars that use analog steering wheel controls instead of digital, putting in an aftermarket so cheap in terms of parts you need in addition to aftermarket radio that you will be a lot more likely to spring for that expensive 10 inch floating screen radio.
Just to poke a little fun at your comment about cars never coming stock with rca's did you forget about scion? Rca's in the back of the oem radio. Its funny haven't done mobile electronics in a few years but still remember!
First of all you 2 are awesome!!! I have learned so much from watching you videos. I have a 2018 Honda accord sport and was wondering if there are any harness that I can buy so I don't have to splice into the stock harness. I am trying to get a signal to my LCi2 pro.
i am just wondering if this guy could have ended up with some nice focal components and nice 4 channel amp setup with spending about the same or less then this route?
Awsome work, I have the same premium 🙄 system, I have a 8 Chanel dsp so I can sum twitter whit mid and bass but if I sum the channel I will loose phone bluethoot from door speaker or that gonna be ok? Thank you
Dean & Fernando, since this video I believe Axxess has come out with integration kits for the Honda's with premium audio and OEM amp. Have you integrated a AXDSPX-HN3 or used just the wiring T-harnesses in a 2018-2022 Honda Accord Touring?
So to use a two way component system with a crossover in the front, I can sum the woofer and tweeter outputs AND reverse polarity the tweeter, connecting both outputs to the crossover?
would the audio control dm 610 work on my honda accord EX-l premium sound system, I would like to keep all factory speakers running plus seperate subwoofer box in trunk???
Just so I’m clear on getting a fuller range signal on my 2019 w/premium stereo, I’d have to reverse the tweeter +\- wires when connecting to my speaker wire to rca cable adaptor? Then run the rca to my processor input? I’m confused because the mid and tweeter in this system are run in parallel so it’s only 2 wires.
i have a 2013 accord v6 exl with the premium 7 speaker system. i added a mono amp and sub in 2 years ago by tapping into the factory sub outputs with a line output converter. Now i upgraded my front doors with a component set and rear speakers and added a 4 channel amp. i tapped into the rear speakers for signal , but im not getting a full range of sound. i heard the front speakers have a stronger signal? or should i tap into the stereo harness pre amp or after the amp. thank you
Hello guys, Great work! I need you help on helping me select a system for my new 2021 honda ridgline sport. I want a sub, and new door speakers. I want to use my Kicker Key to push the doors.
So can I just replace the stock speakers on my 23 accord hybrid ex-l with something plug n play without doing all this rocket science ? I just want a little more bass. And the stock system sucks.
Do you have any info for a 2018 Accord Sport, no factory amp? Which harness do I need to tap into if I want to add an alpine power pack? Is it the blue or the grey connector or a different one?
I want to buy a new head unit for my 2018 honda accord ex-l. I was looking at the belsee 12.3 screen head unit. looks pretty good, do you have any experience with it? can recommend something good for my accord?
I am doing my build on my 2018 Honda accord ex-l trying to follow what you did, I already picked up most of my parts 4x down4sound sfx 6.5" mids for doors and rear deck, 1x8" sfx mid for rear deck, 1 cfx 3" for center channel, 1 sundown 12' e12 sub-woofer with down4sound enclosure, 1 down4sound jp95 5 channel amp to handle interior speakers, and 1 down4sound jp8 amp to handle sub duties. can you recommend a DSP to for my setup? Im trying to keep it budget friendly as possible, and I dont want to splice oem system, if I could avoid it. I have one more question, my 5 channel amp can handle front, rear and rear deck sub, but how do I keep the center channel connected for important for gps and phone calls?
Hey guys! I had a quick question. I just picked up 2 sets of JBL GTO 609C's to go in my 2019 Accord Hybrid and I'm looking at a Sony XM - GS6DSP GS series amp and a down firing kicker sub, either the active / passive comp VR or sealed L7. Would it be best to give those 3ohm JBL's the usual 4 Ohm or 2ohm load from the amp? And being a hybrid would this power level be okay. Lastly is there anyone you guys might know in the Los Angeles Area you could recommend that does thorough work like you guys since I can't have you guys do it 😂? Thanks!
Installed a sub with amp in the box. Hooked up everything correctly.. so I thought. Tapped into the rear deck speakers for signal like in the diagram I got with the sub. Grounded the amp, put the power cable in the amp, then went on to hook up to the battery. I removed the positive terminal to put the power cable on then put it back on to the battery. I get no power to the sub, also, every warning the car gives came on. I got scared and disconnected the power cable and took for a drive to recalibrate. What am I doing wrong?
I wish you would do something on the JBL amplifier I install W 4500 pioneer as well as the pack 4.2 and every once in a while the fade balance moves changes without me touching it it is volatile every once in awhile
Why does Axxess sell a female amplifier bypass harness for 16+ Honda if the digital amp must be retained? Is it for people that want to replace the head unit but use the factory speaker wiring? I don't think that many people would want that.
I think it is if you want to retain the factory wiring and run wires from your amp back to the factory amp location. However it would make more sense of they made a male adapter so we could get the high level inputs without cutting the factory wiring.
Good info guys. I just can't for the life of me figure out why someone would want rear speakers and on top of that rear tweeters? He must sit with his back to the stage when he goes to a concert
This is why we watch your channel. The information that you give is second to none. Plus it's pretty entertaining too. Thanks D & F.
You guys are freak'n OEM cracking wizards.
only haters will dislike this video, so much to learn and thanks to 5star for this.

Thanks for that, I checked and it doesn’t seem to work with a Honda Odyssey. Any chance you know if it will be compatible?

Thank you for this video. I was just about to buy a Fosgate DSR1. I appreciate you

I like to think I know a lot until I watch your builds. Jesus I'm just a backyard DIY'er your a real pro. KUDOs for sharing.
Technical skill is impressive for a car stereo install. Nice job!
You guys are awesome. Such nice clean work and excellent explanation on all your installs
This video is AWESOME!
You guys are just masters at your craft
Thanks for educating me on not buying a Honda with this kind of system. Man, it got complicated right after he showed the digital input on the amplifier. It's getting to a point where cars now a days can't be touched unless you're a professional
I wish I had known all this before buying my 2019 honda accord. Sound is life and these new cars suck!!
You guys are fantastic. I'm up in MA, if I was remotely within 6 hours driving of you, I would totally give you my car audio business

Yup, all pass filters messed me up until I paused and took the time to actually test.

Did you used a t harness for the amp and if you did where canni get one

Hi I have Honda Pilot 2019 touring I want use front & rear speaker via 4 amplifier is it possible
How would you go about adding an amp to a 2019 accord lx (base model), I do not know it it has a stock amp? Any help is useful
Are there any adapters or amp that can be used to replace the factory amp?
I have a 2020 Honda crv touring, can you say where the factory amp is located?
I too, am in polarity.
Is there integration available for these Accords now to go before the amp?

Dean, Fernando?? I have a 2014 Chevy Cruze I would like to upgrade my factory speaker any suggestions. Stock head just better speakers.
2017 Honda Accord Coupe that I can not find anyone that can install a stereo. Everyone refuses here in Fort Wayne, IN
Please tell me you are located close to Mississippi I’d love to bring you my car to do some work
how does a job like this run?
does the 2017 Civic EX have a factory amplifier?
There’s no mobridge for this car? Crazy.
so can you not just do a normal sub install on this car?
