Making a 12" Figure Armature (the 3 minute armature)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 чер 2016
- The 3 minute armature, using a piece of A4 paper, 6ft (180cm) of thin aluminium armature wire you can make a simple scaled figure armature to 1/6th scale (12").
3.17mm Square Aluminium wire is used in this example, thinner gauges of steel galvanised or soft copper wires can be used.
With such a close link between the golden section and body proportions it is possible to scale armatures up or down using standard paper stock sizes like A3, A2, A1 etc. and using different gauges of wire accordingly.

Thank you so much for posting...this is exactly what I needed to make a kitchen witch for our daughter. Short, sweet, for frills, just the basics!
You make it look so easy xD
Thanks for the tutorial.
Why did I take so long to look for this! Thank you!
How do you do the hands though?
You have obviously done this a time or two. Lol. I followed along with your video and made an armature figure. However, it wasn't easy and I had to tie a few areas with wire because they kept sliding around. Thank you though for making this video and posting it here. I searched for a long time before I found a tutorial like this. No one has yet folded paper this way to show the correct measurements and THIS is very important. Thank you!!!!! :)))
What metal is the wire?
This has been really helpful. About to make my first sculpture with this for my application for studying creative therapy!

Could I use the wire to make an armature for a standing reborn doll?
Shall certainly be using this . Thank you.

Finaly!! I can make my own action figure!! Thx u the best!!
That is so cool and so useful.
Awesome and informative video I seen alot of how to make an armature but yours is one of the best I really like that it is constructed out of a single piece of wire cool. Thanks for sharing the knowledge ✌️
Muito obrigado por este artigo que me ajudou
if i where to create a smaller armature, should i use a smaller gauge?
What is the length of the wire you begin with?
He/she said 6 feet.

Very nice!
Simple yet extremely helpful
Thank you
Fabulous, just the video I needed for polymer clay work! Thank you 😊
Brilliant and simple - nice combination.
Next time use a darker writing implement, such as a "Sharpie", so we can clearly see the lines.
Now do I wanna spend more time in the interim fixing and save money.... just build great heads and hands or just get good armatures and be short that head/hand making money.... Nothing is really that much of a rush.... It is a balance.
This video might spur me to get more heavy gauge wire now that I think of it.
Refreshing...ty
Amazing
Thank you
Very nice you are very strong
Your technic is best of all.
What's the name of the material?

Tarekkk Sisss!

Super
Good video, but its frustrating when people don't talk for their instruction videos.
Thank u so much...🙏
That was hecka cool!!
I would have found this more helpful if there were written verbal instructions to go with the visuals. I also found it difficult to see the paper template at first.
I've found the template really helpful, but find that after the first few sculpting steps, I get confused, especially when it's obscured by your hands.
I'll keep trying, this video was helpful. :)
Which wire u used.???
👏👏👋👍👍👍
Great
Thank You Very Much for sharing❤️🌷
Finding it hard to see the pencil template, would be better in felt or have a template attached. Apart from that its great, the tutorial is really useful for molding human form xXx

wow so coooooooooooooooooooool!
🙏🏽
Is it just me? I can’t see what was drawn on the paper 🤓
She drew a very very simplified skull figure using the scale she made by folding the paper, she then recreated the same figure with the wires !
You're correct - should have used a Sharpie.
I love it! Thank you!
Any students preparing for NID, UCEED here. :)
Holy cow i found this skeleton 7 years ago
😮
I'm just going to say it - that was bad ass!
Wouldn't it be better to try for the proportions in Da Vinci's Virtruvian Man?
There was a huge shine on the paper when you were making the sketch. Otherwise this was very helpful.
