Time for a 3D showdown! For over four months, Michael Bixler has been working to create the ultimate 3D plane built out of our favorite material…. foam board! His goal is simple, create an aircraft that can go from mild to wild and help aspiring aerobatic pilots to grow in their skills without emptying their wallet. I'm 36 and my one bedroom apartment is littered with scrap foam and FT foam builds, the guys I fly with are 50+ also flying FT models. You are never too old to build and fly.
I personally think the third guy did the best.. total control the whole time... Looked like art.
The Yak is CRACKED. Mike did excellent with the design, it looks both so smooth and super snappy, and always really sharp and precise.
The plane seems awesome, nice to see this competition kind of video. The vape sponsorship is a bit unusual tho lol

Thank you for another great content. Although, I don't agree with the sponsorship advertisement you guys undertook. I don't think it's a good match with your brand. Especially, when a huge percentage of your audience are young impressionable people. I understand it's an alternative tool to quit a bad habit; but there are better approaches to deter the habit, like not starting the habit at all. A product the mimics the physical behavior of a bad habit just entices people that don't partake in the habit to try it to experience what people who do it feel without the harmful effects of nicotine; but the physical repetitive behavior of the habit can still lead to an addiction of using the product. I was out at the early FF16 and FF17 with my oldest son in Ohio and we had a blast. Life has been busy but glad to see the channel has grown so much. My oldest is turning 19 this summer. We are going to get up in the air again.

Nice flying guys, I’ve been flying for over 20years and I’m still learning but that’s the fun! What about slope soaring guys, I built a versa wing years ago and it sloped brilliantly. Unfortunately I have nothing on my channel related to sloping the versa but I do have plenty of other models in action. Would be cool if you made a foam slope soarer for all us hill lovers! Keep up the great work guys and the hobby thriving 👍👍

I have a challenge idea.... large scale free flight contest. Build free flight large foam planes that are rubber band powered and judge on appearance, duration of flight, and altitudes.

I love watching your guys videos. I watched your video of dropping the jeep from the cargo plane and it got me thinking. You guys should build a big plane with a real wide and long fuselage. Say 4 foot wide by 5 foot long or bigger And make a little race track in the fuselage. Then you can race little fpv cars in the fuselage while the plane is in the air. It’s a wild idea but I think it can be done.
Maaaan... this plane came out looking SO good, and the flying made it look even better. Looks like i might have a new spring build :D

I have always wanted more cheap and affordable 3D foam planes so I can push myself untill I put the plane in the groud and then fix it with some hot glue and packing tape in seconds!

It needs more mass...maybe little tail weight so it can hold knife edge spins and have that weight to toss around....it's a fine line but maybe bugger battery with little more powerful 6s system and 17 in prop with a few strategically placed ounce weights so it can have the weight for momentum crucial manuevers
Just bought my FIRST COX .049 Engine LAST WEEK for a display..........* not so true, I bought many when I was 12 years old and crashed many of those plastic ready to fly control line planes also store bought NEW ones ).... I remember those days... kinda. LOVE this new R/C era.... and these flyers are just so good ! KINDA
I might have to make this one! My Tiny Trainer got pretty aerobatic with a smaller, no dihedral wing, larger ailerons, and beefier motor, but nowhere near this!
Yak 54 and slick and can't forget edge....the best all around 3d planes xa to slow n low....yak 54 loves slow post stall manuevers

Awesome build, what a coincidence in trying to build a yak for learning to fly 3d. Built a couple of tiny trainers to learn to fly with and got addicted 😮. I would love to see these plans released🤞🤞 as shipping to my country is more than buying the plane 😢 ps please no more vape adverts, I don't want kids seeing vape advertised by our role models

I really wanna see you guys fly a simple plane like a glider or some sort of slow flyer, with way too much motor/prop. Like something that’s not supposed to fly fast. Basically I wanna see if a plane will fly apart from high speed. I think it would be a good team challenge 😂

Love you guys, but don't do the vape sponsorship thing again. I get it, money is money, but in a video that a lot of kids will watch, this wasn't the greatest choice of sponsorship. People will say "it's not a vape", but it's still "smoking" something. If a kid can't get their hands on one of these Fume things, they might try the next available thing, which might be their parents' actual vape or a cigarette. Again, I've loved your channel for years now, but this wasn't a good choice.

I’m glad you’re trying to get into 3D designs. I don’t want to say anything about it until I’ve flown it but from the looks of the video it looks like it flies like crap. It looks like it flies like a poorly designed and heavy fun fly model from the 90’s.
You DO need no less than 45* of control throw and maybe that’s why it looks like the pilot is struggling to make the plane do what they want. Honestly it’s hard to tell whether it’s the plane or the pilot that’s struggling.
Keep at it. You’ll get there.
Foam board has been the go-to for learning 3D since 3D’s conception yet stating that your goal was to make something that rivals EF’s line of small 3D planes it looks to fail at that. It looks more like an old school precision aerobatics ARFs or first gen Flex Innovations extras all of which flew ungainly and it took more work to do maneuvers well than it take to actually do the maneuver in a decently designed 3D plane.
