Floor Jansen is probably the world's best singer who can sing so many different styles. From growling to high-pitched opera voice, this woman is a vocal wonder.
and every time you listen to her or Nightwish it's a real treat and an emotional journey
It's kind of annoying how good she is. I mean even if i tried my best and dedicated my whole life to sing well, i could never be as good. She is a rarity that come once in a blue moon.

life is like that. no matter how hard you try and how much talent you are born with, at some point there will be someone who is better. you can only try to be the best version of yourself in what you love to do. I am now 36 and have been playing football since I was a child, but unfortunately I never had the talent to be a professional and so I had 15 great years in amateur sport and am satisfied with it. I personally always feel joy when I can observe people who are among the best in their field. Be it in sports or in art or in any other area.

As you say, at every performance Floor turns into someone else, more precisely into someone who can best tell the story and convey the associated emotions. I felt when I was young the "trap" of completely entering the role, and the risk of losing myself on this occasion. Floor has the rare ability to remain herself, transforming at the same time according to the role assumed, to be able to transmit the emotions.

After this show she did a tour in the Netherlands with the songs she did here and song of Nightwish, Revamp and After Forever. And I was at one of the shows. I knew here for about 7 years. I really love her.

Floor has recently recorded a song for 'War Child' originally in Dutch and then also translated in English. There's a video of one of her studio sessions worth checking out for a completely different voice again, but so full of emotion!
Hi! I'm pretty sure you misspoke when you mentioned the 'backing track'. This show has a phenomenal live backing band called the Marcel Fisser Band. They accompany each and every singer in this show. Some time after Beste Zangers 2019 aired Floor had a solo tour in the Netherlands and the Marcel Fisser Band was her backing group.
Absolutely, I've seen all of her performances on the show and knew there was a live band backing her up. Not sure why I said backing track. ✌️✌️
Maybe, you would love to listen to Floor Jansen singing The phantom of the opera' with Henk Poort. You saw him in this show. He played the phantom in the musical the phantom of the opera, in the Netherlands.

If there's a song she cannot sing, it hasn't been written yet. I would like to meet the composer who would even attempt such a feat. I don't think it's possible - yet there are pop stars who are lauded by the industry who have never seen or heard of Floor - and could not reach notes she gets to easily. And they are the ones with walls full of awards. It just shows the bias of the music industry.
And it took 22 YEARS for her to become an "overnight success" in her own country. 🤦😱😭

You mentioned she sounds like any good singer performing a song like this, but there is one very, very big difference: the emotions she manages to convey. When I hear Floor singing, I always get the chills and goosebumps, and there are only very, very few singers who manage to cause that type of reaction in me.
Her chameleon ways are basically part of her being a very strong empath and a highly sensitive person, and the work she puts into it. She really gets into a song, makes it her own, and then performs it conveying all those emotions and feelings in a way no other singer can. She becomes one with the song. And this also happens when she sings with Nightwish. This is truly awesome, and the trait of a really world class, or rather, beyond world class singer and artist.

@@CUTnPASTEreacts the Dutch music scene isn’t that big and finding good session and touring musicians is quite hard so Marcel Fisser (bandleader / lead guitar player) and his band have played for a lot of artists. They are a well oiled machine so to speak and have been the backing band for Beste Zangers for years. Coincidentally, the drummer actually grew up in my village.

Floor is an extremely high-sensitive empath. She feels Everything, and that's the reason she can transform, or maybe even better said, transcend, every emotion, into the smallest emotional detail. If she has something with the style, lyrics, or deeper content and meaning of the song, she breaths it in, straight into her heart, feels it into the deepest depth, and then sings it out straight to the heart of the listener. It is all so natural for her. She is a born heart-to-heart connector. A very special gift, which is not given to many artists. Nice reaction, as always. Enjoyed it. Thank you for going through all the Beste Zangers performances by Floor Jansen, and I hope sometime, the songs sung by all the others on her special guest day.
I believe this is a performance that demonstrates Floor's natural empathy and versatility as well as anything else she has ever sung.
We know the has a wide variety of fantastic techniques, but she always selects and uses them in a manner which serves the song, not in a way that is designed to draw the focus onto her - although it does that as well (she can't help that, with such a commanding stage presence)!
As has been said many times now, most singers sing what they can - Floor sings whatever she wants and however she wants, but she always puts the song first. She is the supreme storyteller in all her performances.

On your comparison to other singing divas, I could not respectfully disagree more. All the singers you mentioned and I cannot think of many others that do not fall in the same category, except for maybe Billie Eillish or Aurora, are all about belting, runs and whistle tones with no subtlety, restraint or care for interpretation of the lyrics. Floor is all about what the song needs, requires or is calling for and no ego or need to put the spotlight on her many vocal talents, that's the difference between a truly mature artist and some juvenile diva.
I agree with you on Floor's approach, but I don't necessarily believe all of the artists in that genre always go for crazy runs and belting out notes. I thing the industry believes that whats the paying fans want to hear and work on getting the music produced that way. If given complete freedom to make music they way they want, we might see some of that be toned down a bit. But probably only a bit ✌️✌️

Let me suggest this one: "Je suis malade Lara Fabian French and English subtitles". She is a Belgian singer a,d do a great carrier in french speaking countries. This song is a song from Serge Lama (a great french singer). lot of emotion inside and lyrics are ..... I let you discover !

Just a little recommendation for you, you certainly will not regret having a look on would be Epica with Floor. "Sancta Terra" and "Strabat Mater Dolorosa" are incredible. The second song is classical music in front of a crowd of metalheads. The silence during this performane is impression.

TUOMAS the master mind behind nightwish wrote a song, and his wife sings the vocals in it. This song is soooooo beautiful, I know you will love it. TUOMAS plays the piano in the song and the guitar player from nightwish is in it. The cartoonist in the video is one of TUOMAS's childhood memories when he was a boy. The name is ( A LIFETIME of ADVENTURE)

Just wait until you get a little more familiar with her voice and especially all those emotional colors, details and different tools like straight tone, add vibrato at the end, air over the voice, fluent switch between all kinds of techniques, power - and her lounge capacity!!! - you will never doubt when it is Floor on the 🎤.
She can express every kind of emotion, effortless - gently or on full Floor Throttle mode.
There are very very few others that can anything close to Floor - but there are a few like her old friend and room mate Simone Simons. You can her them both in Santa Terra, Epica

Love the fact that some may Americans like the series "The beste zangers" and of course the season with Floor was one of the best in my opinion. So I got a suggestion for you from an other season, with two other artist doing I think the second best perfomance. I hope you enjoy it.
