It's easy if you can slap and pop properly, which are techniques that a fair few bassists, certainly amateur players, can fall short in. My slap technique needs a lot of improvement. This guy is exceptional.
@@mikedolan6176 it was just too different from the Fender precision basses that I’m used to. 38mm vs 42mm nut width, the thin dark neck, smaller headstock, 3-band EQ preamp, humbuckers instead of split-coils, super light body, 24 frets instead of 20. Other than scale length pretty much everything that could be different was and every time I picked it up it felt foreign in my hands. It was like jumping from a pickup truck into a Mazda Miata. Don’t let that discourage you though, there’s a lot to like about the bass. I bought mine used for $700 CAD.
@@wayne6777 thanks for the info dude. I'm a p bass guy myself. But I'm interested in another bass that is different as I don't want too many instruments that are " the same". I say that owning 2 sgs! It actually sounds like what I'm looking for. As different as it fealt to you as a p bass guy, was it comfortable, neck heavy?
@@mikedolan6176 glad to help. The neck and fretwork on mine were nice and smooth and the entire bass seemed well made except for the nut - I remember it had a chunky plastic nut on it that felt sharp on the edges. Easy enough to replace if it bothers you. Other than that, no complaints. I don’t remember much neck dive, I just remember it feeling kind of like a toy compared to my pbasses because it was so much lighter. I’ve got a herniated disc in my lower back and there are days that I wish I would have kept it for the reduced weight. I edited my other post - I actually paid $700 CAD for mine in 2020. Bought it used at Long & McQuade after renting it first.
It's never crossed my mind to try playing any Korn songs on bass, but I'm very surprised to see how simple the bass lines actually are. Gotta give it to Fieldy for making something so simple sound so badass. To me, that takes more talent than just hot dogging your way playing unnecessarily complicated or fast that it ends up sounding meh. Great cover!
They literally swapped in Trujillo’s 10yr old son during a tour. Kid nailed it. And yeah, they had Ryan from Mudvayne as well. His lines aren’t flashy or complex but they serve the song, and that’s all that matters.
The main riff actually isn't that hard to play, it's finding the string slap sound that'll be the most difficult. This guy was good but it's missing the twang sound that makes Fieldy's bass sound so unique.
I'll be 💯 percent honest in saying I've never been a fan of Korn. That being acknowledged I will say this is excellent regardless of personal preference. Also in all sincerity I do like your tone more so than the original.
Probably my favorite bassist to watch! Makes me want to finally pick up bass :). Just waiting to save up the money for this left handed ESP E-II P-5? I think is what it's called 🤔
@@AzulYoshi well sadly ESP doesn't make many left handed basses so 😂. Though if that one sells before I can get it, they do make the surveyor and black metal bass lefty I believe. Though I do plan on getting at least 1 right handed bass as well.
Fieldy is honesty the biggest reason I'm a fan of KoRn.
Brian and James are my 2 favorites but that is probably because I'm a guitarist and they were my main inspiration to start playing.
Same
How you feel when he left korn??

"Clinky clack boom voom" - Fieldy's bass

What a cool time in music. Korn was so original in everything they did.

Crazy how easy this is to play. Proof that the greatest songs can come from simple riffs.

It's NOT easy if you play correctly.
Main riff is easy if you know how to slap and pop, but the verse riffs are a bit complicated with the rhythm and dead notes.
The verse is definitely not "easy"
Usually bass parts are simple
respect for fieldy increased immensely , how he made every simple basslines looks so interesting
I wouldn't mind at all if you uploaded more Korn, my dude. Fieldy has such a cool style and it was a lot of fun watching you cover it~
Rock on!
I think I'll be more korn videos, it's quite fun to play!

That's one beautiful bass. 🤩

@@ItchyBoness I don't, sorry :(

Thank you!
Beautiful Bass, beautiful tone and beautiful playing. Nice!
Ibanez SR675 SKF. I owned the four string version a few years back but sold it.

Ryan Martinie bro. Ryan fuckin Martinie.
