I think another symbolic part of Mania’s bow is that it’s a long range weapon, unlike the others. Someone in manic love may actually drive their loved one farther away with their actions, and unrequited or guilty love can create a sense of isolation and loneliness
literally not my enemies to lovers rodent brain going “haha, Mania and Philia having a reconciliation arc while also being foils for each other would make for a such a juicy, angsty relationship”-
They both rant to Eros about the other one and she's this close to locking them in a closet. The only thing stopping her is the knowledge there will be bloodshed if she does.
I want y'all to hear me out. Okay. Okay. Okay. Philia's a people pleaser, right? Nobody likes being pleased more than Mania, and I think for Philia that might feel really rewarding at first. I'd love to see a world where they started out with a very intense close relationship, bordering between friendship and a bit of a romance (very "I hate all this bureaucratic bullshit but not you, never you"/"I think you're getting worse than I can fix but I don't want you to feel betrayed by me") and then when Mania goes hard into being bad that WORSENS Philia's anger at her afterwards and also her self-loathing/doubt that she's any better. Mania knows Philia better than anyone, so she knows Philia's secret desires--maybe during the inevitable fight between them Mania argues that Philia isn't any better than her and that she's just too big of a pushover to admit it. And THEN they have a tender enemies to lovers reconciliation where they slowly learn to balance one another out and heal from their respective issues and then they kiss kiss a little bit. And also I was Ludus/Eros from the word go, they have WEIRD sex /pos.
Valentine's day is my birthday, and even though i also dislike it and dont rlly celebrate(at least the romantic aspect) i gasped like it was the most horrid thing anyone has said
some ideas i have for you to toy with! different poisons/toxins as a group of villains (arsenic, cyanide, tetrodotoxin, etc), the seasons as deities (im feeling the s.a.d rn), designing tarot cards, and maybe something cyberpunk or western (just to get out of your comfort zone)
You know something funny? In romany tarot The Bears may represent (among many other things, like all of the other cards) a somewhat toxic, possessive and/or controling relationship or person, so giving mania the bear as her animal companion actually fits extremely well
I feel bad for Mania-she just wants love, and I’d imagine she’s so sick of the humans she helps because they aren’t on the right path and she’s angry they get love whilst she doesn’t
Eros gives the vibes of, not a parent, but an aunt that you go to for things you would never tell your parents and ask her for advice you’d be embarrassed of.
projecting time: the Love Gals™ meet an aromantic person who's struggling with either some platonic relationship or accepting their aromanticism and not trying to force themselves into something. at first the girls are confused because this seems like almost the opposite of what their job is, but they come to realize that they can also work with other kinds of love outside of romance. like self-love, platonic love, familial love, and love for hobbies/interests or for animals. i think it'd be a very cool episode/arc later in the show, where they not only help the mortal but also learn more about themselves, maybe break out of the mold and what they feel they have to be a little. character growth!
I had a similar idea to turn holidays into magical girls, I was going for a kind of Sailor Moon meets Rise of the Guardians vibe & the team consisted of Christmas, Easter, Halloween, St. Valentine's Day, & Mardi Gras-themed magical girls. The premise was that these magical girls were chosen to fight off Grimps (Grinch + Imp BTW), who would drain humanity of their Holiday Spirit.
@MintyMido Thanks, I'm thinking about revisiting it actually starting off with Halloween! My idea is that Trixie/Saint Hallows (the real name of my Halloween-Inspired Magical Girl & her alias) would be the team's mage with the power to summon spirits corresponding with the classic monsters & personality-wise, she'd be the Tsundere Rival-To-Ally (kinda of like Homura from "Puella Magi"). She'd also have a black cat as a mascot & her transformation item would be a Jack O'Lantern-Shaped Purse.
About Mania, I think that a few plot things would contribute for her going on a darker path for some time: 1-She's very intense personality wise and as much as the other girls like to have their fun, I think they are all a little sick of this almost theatrical approach to love that Mania finds interesting, since they spend most of their time begging humans NOT to see things in black and white. (they aren't saints of course, that's exactly why the 3 decided to be chaotic and let people find out after they've ****** around) It's like Mania is a film girl that wants to fully discuss Medeia and female rage and Pearl and while the girls don't cut her off, they don't really engage and that hurts her a little since the three blend together more seamslessly, even with their wildly different interests. 2- This is 100% headcanon stuff, but I think Mania was created after the first three, like Ludus Eros and Philia were supposed to do all the job at first, but after noticing that they just couldn't solve some problems that were requested and that those people were not bad, just misguided, so they asked Cupid for a new team member . At the end of the day it worked and they were pretty compatible, but since Mania felt a little left out from the begining plus her different function and approach to problems, she developed a more individualistic/loner tone. 3- Now if this was a show, I think that after some seasons of getting to know these characters, it should be shown that Mania is breaking the status quo by getting bolder and bolder with her whole "I'm a good matchmaker too, just watch me". To show that this is a different thing than what has been happening for the last hundreds of years, maybe at the end of season 1 she accidentlay gets two people together that she thought worked even though they weren't technically supposed to be with each other. 4-The other start calling her out, first very nonchalantly and then progressively more seriously (even if Philia secretely feels like she herself could do that better) and that makes Mania start feeling like the outsider again, and it hurts her since she never fully stopped feeling like "the third option''. 5- Finally things start getting messy when she gets involved romantically with a human. As I said I think her way of coping with feeling inedequate is to isolate herself and convince herself that she's fundamentally different, so when she gets these feelings, she convinces herself that she can do it, that she can make it work because this time it's different. That is also definetely not her first time obsesing like this, she's Mania after all, but while her other crushes have come from maybe finding attractive when her clients were intense about love, I feel like this one specifically wasn't even her client initially, maybe they were being helped by Philia and Mania swooped in to help at the very end and that's how they met, (I'm bothering to note these small details because I think it would help with selling the idea that they've been doing this for hundreds of years and a few key factors have led to this never done before outcome) she started making small excuses to see them after that and surprisingly the human is totally into her and she decides to try and pursue this, that could be the season finale. 6- In my head there's a whole season with them secretely having dates and a lot of shenanigans with Mania trying to hide that she's conveniantly in cute cafes and amusement parks out of duty and having to stop mid date to help the girls with their jobs since she's right there, there's even an episode in my head where a client thinks they''re in love with Ludus and it gets very hard for her herself to do the job since she's supposed to be the therapist and not the subject. The girls swoop in and Mania makes some not so subtle digs at the idea of love spirits and humans being incompatible. 7- Finally, the season finally happens when the girls find out everything and they are so shocked and hurt from being lied to that they get lowkey unreasonable when confronting her, not seeing where her feelings of loneliness and inferiority come from in the first place and chucking it up to her being too dramatic. Big ''Why didn't you tell us!'' ''You never made me feel like I could!'' energy. The conflit gets emotional, there's a fight and boom, she escapes and has her "villain arc". I even feel like during the heat of the argument Mania reveals that Philia has been secretely trying to make her own couples happen, not as boldly as herself but still, she secretely has some spreadsheets around on local townies with a bunch of string connecting possible couples lying around. Maybe Mania got confident that Philia would see her point of view and that's why she got so hopeful, she thought it would be 2x2 instead of 3x1 like usual, and the girls's rebelious streak would bring them together. Obviously that didn't happen lol *i don't have anything interestign to say other than a good premise for the show to even start is that some magical stuff happens and suddenly there are invisible love demons that feed of negative lovergy (love energy) spawning in the city, and Cupid just gives the girls their weapons and all of a sudden the magical therapists now have to kill monsters on the side too. They are clearly not trained for this. There are multiple fire happening around the city and somehow all of them are their fault. (New challenges + them being tired from the new workload + blunt weapons = them getting even more unhinged) Sorry for going inasane, it will happen again👍. Anyway I don't want it to feel like I'm forcing any of this stuff, I'm just rambling and essentialy making fanfiction, if yall like even some of these ideas then my job here is done 🙏🙏 (I would love to actually write a little story but I am not an actual fanfic writer and I do not have anything other than this, not even a scene or anything, so let's pretend this is a public AO3 draft and not me writing an essay on youtube comments please 🎉
Easter is coming up. Maybe these girls have a friendly rivalry with some of the representatives from the other holidays? Maybe all the holidays have a company retreat around new years with a soccer tournament between the different divisions, and they have to have meetings where they figure out how to limit property damage and avoid getting sued. I usually think its funny when mystical societies have to go through boring everyday rule stuff.
This whole thing was such a joy to watch! My drag persona is very vintage and lovecore so Mania is my favorite lol, but the idea of making outfits based on Valentine's Day candy never occurred to me
I kinda like how brighter and more colourful Ludus is compared to the other three - almost kidcore like. I can see there being an episode or whatever they feel frustrated with being treated like the kid of the group or being told theyre not as mature as the others and having that sorta teen-angst runaway moment where the other three scramble to do the job without them, leading to a realization of how much Ludus contributes and is mature/patient with their wards/clients/etc (which of course means a big dramatic apology and them all reuniting and being stronger than ever with a better understanding of each other). basically like that one bubbles episode in powerpuff girls.
Out of all your design videos (if I watched them all) I think this one has the biggest fun show energy! The premise is unique and simple enough to let the other aspects shine. I can already imagine an episode where one the humans "falls in love" with one of the girls and doesn't want to be helped anymore, so the other three all team up to try and get the human uninterested because they need to atleast complete a little of the mission to be able to go back to their metaphysical state
I LOVE LUDUS' DESIGN SO MUCHHH AAAAA so punk and colourful its amazing since ludus dabbles in a lot of like young love and teenage crushes and stuff like that, i can totally see her giving good advice in a chaotic way but also veryyy much see ludus getting into the tea with like a 5 year old girl who has a crush on someone in kindergarten, totally like in a tea party and plushies type setting with a little kid ranting about their first crush on the playground omggg
I can honestly see this being a whole webtoons series - the lore and characters are so cool and the story itself would have such amazing themes and commentary about love, sex and relationships, abuse, emotional trauma, personal growth and individuality. I love it so much!
Eros is hands down my favorite design. The dommy mommy who wishes to solve your problems with sexual advise is amazing. when you where just drawing the white wings and mask it reminded so much of rouge from sonic the hedgehog. She is so gorgeous!!
Imagine adding Agape to this group, since Agape is supposed to be the highest, purest form of love. I think it would be so interesting to see her interact with especially Mania, since Agape is pure and Mania is more twisted, and also her interacting with humans, since they maybe can't comprehend the kind of love she represents. I think Agape is most likely of the four of them to fall in love with a human because maybe she meets someone who finally understands what she represents and she feels seen for the first time.
I kinda love the idea of a human polycule calling on ludus and philia for different parts of the struggle at the same time on accident. So they have to either work together or against each other as the humans need. ❤❤❤
For Philia, i feel like having a mace could be representative of how she sometimes chooses to bluntly tells the truth to the humans she's caring for, and they have to receive her rough words just like a mace in the stomach
I'm so late on this but I like the idea that after a bunch of silly, episodic adventures in these character's stories, the real plot is that they end up falling in love with humanity - seeing the truth in all these relationships they're fixing that even though its not perfect and hearts get broken anyway, it's worth it to have love - and become humans themselves.
Since Eros is so mischievous I feel like she’d be responsible for all the awkward little moments when like you trip and fall in front of your crush or onto them, all the little misunderstandings that end up making the characters understand how much they actually care about each other. i'm thinking like manwah/romance manga terms. Eros definitely would be obsessed with romance and spicy manga that's littered with misunderstandings.
I like Eros most because of my love for the Eros x Psyche story but I was most excited to see the chocolate strawberry character design Ended up liking Mania's character design the most
I love your art! Your videos are always a treat! Funny story about Valentines last year. We got married on valentines last year 😂 we got married in the parking lot of McDonalds infront of walmart. They don't marry you at the court house anynore since the last 3 years. Everytime we tried to do a wedding everyone wanted to get married on the day we picked. We also had the pandemic. So we had to hunt down someone with a license 😂 our witness was our dog Ruru. Also that day my mom was supposed to go to the court house with us. She made a huge deal with it. Instead, her and her boyfriend wanted us to turn around and pull her out of our yard that she wasn't even supposed to be at. We didnt do that because we had our good clothes on and it was muddy. It was a adventure to get married. We had to do some side quests to get the main objective quest done 😂
IF there were bad guys they have to fight- I think about like a heart-breaker type villian who has powers to kinda fuck with people's relationships (aka gaslighting or smth)?? idk but they'd probably get their ass BEAT by these 4
They could be representative of the other unhealthy and toxic traits of relationships, like jealousy, selfishness or narcisissm, and lean even more strongly into the kind of manipulation Mania is familiar with, which could be another factor for why Philia dislikes her so much since she shares traits with the villain. Some dude who feeds off the already-present bad vibes of relationships so they stick around like a bad luck charm and passively influence relationships into ruin till the magical girl of whichever kind of relationship they're ruining comes in to whoop their ass
To build on that: I like the idea of a character who seems like the bad guy in the first season or so but later is revealed to be more of an anti-hero who breaks up people who SHOULD be broken up because their relationship isn't healthy and they'd be better off single than suffering, while Mania has her corruption arc and is revealed to be more of a bad guy than this person. Maybe they try to stop her even.
yess what if the gods of bad feelings, like oizys the godess of pain and distress or someone had their own magical girl type characters but instead of doing eros's work they try to spread bad feelings and hurt humans, so the eros girls has to fight them
Really fun concepts, always love the addition of animal companions and weapons. My one critique would be for Mania, I feel that without the candy box fascinator she wouldn’t really fit with the theme and that’s mainly due to the fuzzy jacket. When I think of chocolate boxes I think of the crinkly brown wrappers, all of the different chocolate tones and textures, and the candy boxes themselves. As for future concepts, with the Lunar New Year just passing and this being the year of the dragon it would be fun to do a food, animal, or plant mashup.
My favorites are Mania and Philia! I especially love Philia's hair and cute design and Mania's anti-hero / chaotic neutral backstory! All 4 of them have a cool dynamic, and this was so fun to watch! Also, I loved the doodles at the begining and end of the video, haha~
I think another interesting thing for mania to explain her more stern and angry side is the fact that unlike the others who deal with relatively light hearted or at least less serious problems, hers are incredibly serious. Like phila might have to deal with a situation where there are possibly kids involved or can have possible negative repercussions for multiple people...but Mania has to prevent straight up murder. And stalking. And all the other fucked up shit people do when they can't take no for an answer. That sounds pretty stressful. She literally can not be playful like the others because an innocent person might DIE if she fucks around to much.
You should definitely make that candy hearts coat. You could make it a bit more casual by using heart shaped pleather/holographic foil patches, so less chunky hearts and more colour and texture.
just took a philosophy class were i learned about the 8 greek loves! Ludus' playful love is also mainly short term love. Eros used to mean ANY kind of passionate relationship, even rivalry and hate. and Philia is actually .... just platonic love, not also romantic. if you want a 'love' thats long term, platonic or romantic, where the other person is Home, and you become more alike each other the longer your relationship lasts, thats the 'mature love', Pragma!
Been a long time since I’ve had a chance to sit down and enjoy one of these character design videos from you, so it’s great to be back. Fun fact, Cupid’s Greek name (because Cupid is the Roman version) is Eros. It could be a fun idea that he’s OK with one of them being using one of his other names simply because the Greek one is kind of more popular in popular media. And I also love mania, basically having a bow and arrow just like Cupid would have, but it’s not actually having magic behind it. Almost like mania, has all the aspects of romance, but with none of the healthiness behind it. Like mania is like love, but for the wrong reasons or in the wrong direction. And I think it would be funny if Cupid is a little reluctant to do anything about manias bad behavior because, ironically enough, the way you described her as very similar to how Aphrodite or Venus would act. She was jealous and she loved betrayals and punishing people for not doing what she thought was best. She is the original mania in a way. So basically, she has the traits of his toxic mom and sort of copying him in a way it’s kind of like a Lucifer/God situation. I really would be curious on how you would draw or design a Cupid like character or even some of the original Greek gods, but I know you like making your straight up original characters and not just redesigns of popular figures in mythology and fairytales
Oo silly fun idea: Protectors of the Community Garden! Little garden/flower/vegetable themed sprites and spirits and fae that watch over the community garden at night and help with the seasons (think the Faeries in Thumbelina)
Don't call me out with Mania's character 😅 I'm just a scorpio ok? Also v excited for next week's sewing video, I'd love for you to make that puffer jacket from the first look too, its gorgeous!
maybe the villains are more hell-inspired (imps, succubus, incubus, sirens, etc.) and led by asmodeus?? they could represent love's chaotic and toxic side, similar to mania. they saw this and tried to recruit mania to their cause of spreading toxicity and possessive behavior in relationships. maybe?? possibly???
OMG OMG I LOVE THIS VIDEO !! AU Idea: What if Mania is seeking love with humans and she goes off her rocker and goes berserk, and Phiilia has a hard time forgiving Mania for that but deep down she actually likes Mania romantically and hats why its hard for her. At the end of the story, they become canon
I would really love to see a comic/animation based on this characters helping people with their love problems, Ludus dealing with kids and teens having problems, and Eros actually talking about sex in a serious way when necessary and that kind of stuff, and pranking the ones who kinda “deserves” it, maybe showing to a boy that his way of treating girls as toys isn’t good and that kind of stuff, with something sort of cruel jokes. But I just really loved the designs, the concepts and the story behind them 💜
For conflict between the characters, it'd be cool to play with the idea that even if they are experts in their own philosophies of love they still struggle with the 4 other concepts as a group: Storge- in the close friendship they've had over centuries (?) it probably feels as if they're close family (with all the fights that come with that) or the overall "parental" guidance they struggle with when helping mortals. (with all the pranking ect.) Agape- love of humanity, or selfless love. With all that time some "humans never learn" jaded thoughts might pop up. Might be times when they find it hard "find the love" for the job. Pragma- enduring love. The bond they created as a group might strain but overall they make it work- that episode where they all disagree on something but come together to fight a big bad or realize how much they've all been through and join back up. Philautia- self love- confidence in and kindness to yourself and abilities. Self-esteem episode or a monster preying on peoples confidence. Also found it very ironic that the character based on the concept of true friendships (Philia) would have the hardest time forgiving a friend. edit: the way i wrote it the first time wasn't agreeing with the comment section layout. apologies if edits ping any notifications and i really enjoyed the video :))
I think jt would be a bit cool if the "demons" they need to fight are demons that represent heartbreak. They find a couple that are going through some rocky times and sort of just nest with them for a bit, making the couple hate eachother, make them fight more, mabye cheat on the partner, just anything that can lead to a failed relationship. The demigods fend of any heart break demons that they find that humans can't see to keep couples together
Omg, dude, this is screaming magical girl vibes!! I would totally love to see this as like a mini little animated series of these girls doing the best they can lol very beautiful work!
I feel like it could be interesting if Cupid specifically made mania in the image of Psyche (if I remember they're married in mythology) and that could contribute to why she's obsessed with love.
I think what could be cool is mania having a whole Entrapta from shera like villian at where all she want is to find love for herself and others but like someone from behind is influencing her rebelliousness streak or like giving her the power to be able to gain some of cupids powers. Id imagine when she goes full antagonists or like when any of the characters get mad the turn like ref( like their skin and their colour palette gets a ref tint) and when Mania goes full villain she gets like a more fiery burnt over and red skin almost like a demon or smth
I love all of them. chocolate covered strawberries is probably one of my favorites. I kind of now want to make a version these characters like demigods, or angels of my love goddess in my D&D world. Because I think that would be so cool.
Kira. Make lovecore villain. I beg of thee. Maybe based off of those chocolate covered cherries? Looks dark and has a hard outer shell, but once they open up you find a sickly sweet center. I vote either Himeros (unrequited love. Maybe in relationships but maybe also self reflected) or peitho ( seduction and flattery. Aka their words are weapon of choice, maybe a person who breaks many a heart which in turn calls in our cast to rectify the situation) Since cherries often are depicted in pairs you can even make them twins and its one of those weird twists? like "Oh wow! they were two separate people the whole time! thats wild. We just thought it was one weird guy this whole time)
i'm not even done watching, but with the finishing of Ludus I couldn't help but imagine her trying to hand some kid the bunny only for that kid to have a phobia of rabbits 😭
name ideas! ludus/candy hearts: lucille/lucy. the candy hearts remind me of i love lucy eros/heart lollipops: might be corny to go with eris, but to be slightly less on-the-nose ill say erika lol [shes my favorite too, its not because of the fetish wear shhhh] mania/box of chocolates: mandy philia/chocolate strawberries: philomena
Love love love the video and the designs, but as a nerd, I have some things to point out (just because I'm so interested in the topic of where the names came from): Cupid is the Roman "equivalent" (lots of differences, but to most modern people, this is the best description) of Eros, the ancient Greek primordial god of love (sex and desire, more accurately). I find it funny that a part of Cupid's retinue would be Eros, seeing as that to most modern people, they'd be understood to be the same entity but with different cultural settings. The words used as names here, the "ancient Greek ideas of love", are some that I've seen circulating the internet quite a bit. The idea that "the [ancient] Greeks had four/five/seven/x number of words for love" is a mostly modern projection of our own understanding of these concepts using ancient words which sometimes have nothing to do with love and sometimes aren't even Greek. "Ludus" is Latin, which just means "game" - not "love as a game." "Mania" is almost the same as the modern English word, simply meaning insanity. "Eros," even, is sort of eh to me as a word for "love." It's as Kira described; a sexual, lustful emotion. Eros was the Greek god of sex, and sexual desire. The ancients portrayed him in many ways in the mythos, sometimes being very destructive. "Philia," as Kira pointed out, means "friendship" or "affection." This isn't necessarily love, but I guess it's the closest to me. For what it's worth, this is one of the Bibilical ideas of love, if I recall correctly. There are usually more words that accompany these in lists I see floating about, but I don't really have a need to get into that right now! Additionally, the concept of Cupid having other demigods working for him in specialized roles, is a concept that was seen in ancient times, too! Not so much that they worked for Cupid, but Cupid (or Eros) was among those who worked for and alongside Venus (or Aphrodite). The Cupids (or Erotes in Greek) are fun guys, albeit different to these magical girls, if you're interested in looking into them! ALL of this being said: I love your take on this concept nonetheless!! I love the lore you've built up and the designs you came up with! I adore these magical girls with all my heart, particularly Eros, and I would absolutely read a comic with these characters! I might just draw these girls all over my sketchbook 💕💕
Box of Chocolates: Mania (for the love she embodies), Silky (in reference to silk fabric), Choco (in reference to the chocolate), Pandora (reference to box) Bernadette (French/German girl's name meaning brave as a bear to reference bear familiar and low-key reference IAMX's song oof the same name which kind of gives me yandere vibes), Yuno (in reference to Future Diary's Yuno Gasai, one of the most, if not the most well-known yandere girl in anime) Idony (Norse girl's name meaning love again/renewal in reference to people coming to her to renew their relationships) Lollipop: Tanner (reference to leather), Lollie (reference to food) Caramia (Italian girl's name derived from the phrase meaning my beloved), Passion (from passionate), Cherry (reference to red color/lollipop flavor), Aziza (Arabic girl's name meaning powerful and beloved), Carmilla (reference to Carmilla the sapphic vampire due to bat motifs), Idra (Hebrew girl's name meaning fig tree-Figs are not only considered a natural aphrodisiac but also symbolized love/fertility amongst the ancient greeks) Sweet Hearts: Cashmere (reference to fabric) Candy (reference to food) Kelebek (Turkish girl's name meaning butterfly/reference to butterflies in the stomach of first feelings of love), Cora (Greek girl's name meaning heart/French girl's name meaning beloved), Felicity (girl's name meaning intense happiness), Bunny/Bonnie (reference to bunny familiar), Prima (Latin girl's name meaning first/refrence to first love) Chocolate covered Strawberries: Lacey (reference to fabric), Organza (reference to other fabric), Strawberry/Fraise (reference to food) Connelly (Irish girl's name that can mean love and friendship), Amanda (Latin girl's name meaning worthy of love and lovable), Catherine (girl's name reference to cat familiar), Paz (unisex Spanish name meaning peace), Zinnia (zinnias symbolize lasting affection and friendship) Lorraine (reference to Lorraine Lorusso, the inventor of chocolate-covered strawberries)
Mania reminds me of Artemis with her design which is.... funny because Artemis is not a lovey dovey person at all, she's a virgin goddess of hunting and she does not deal with Aphrodite's or Eros's bullshit.. which could actually be a pretty nice contrast for the only member of the crew that actuallu falls in love i love it
It might just be me but I thought Mania would’ve paired well with candy hearts ( since the candy hearts have little messages on them, and mania is obsessive love, maybe the candy hearts have weird little messages on them) I dunno just a thought lol
a cool idea I had while seeing mania was that maybe when she does fall for a mortal, the mortal wants to be with someone else so she tries to sabotage the relation ship but it always backfires in someway so she ends up breaking the rules from cupid to get her way and hiding it from the group and that can lead to the rogue mania arc idk i just love it when a good guy goes bad in a story
Tbh i think it’d be rlly funny if the weapons where like magic wands? Like they hit you with the very scary looking weapon but it doesn’t hurt but oh boy your life’s gonna change now
This is honestly one of my favourite storylines you’ve made for your character designs, I am so desperate to know more please do something with them, I love them Also your characterization inspires me so much. I love the little quirks and character arcs you come up for them they really help round them out, and I really need to work on that for my characters because they are kinda one more right now
The twilight music keeps throwing me off bc it's my ring tone so i keep getting ticked about someone calling me at such a late hour lmao Also mania came out so beautiful! I can definitely say she's probably my favorite design and color palette out of this bunch (one day i will learn how to make complex costumes, and she will be on the list of what to make)
Okay so i recently watched a video of this archer UA-camr (cant remember his name, someone help) explaining how curving arrows might work in real life. The way he gets his arrows to curve is by adjusting where the feathered end sits on the arrow, and i found it super interesting. There is a lack of control, force, and aim that comes wjth doing it this way, but i think that really suits Mania! Now, her feathered end isnt far enough towards the middle of the arrow to produce any dramatix curves, but i still think its a really cool insight in to her character and deception 20:09
The villain should be the various types of hate!! It would be rlly cool if maybe mania ended up in a relationship with one of the villains(heartbroken hate?) and then the villain became a magical girl/hero of like when ur heartbroken but then u love again ik??????!!!!!!
No idea if someone said this already, or if you already figured it out, but the hair you drew on Philia is actually called "bubble braids". Also, the designs and art are absolutely scrumptious, another 10/10 video!
The last one is so me XD I'm very blunt. I can't help it. It can be very helpful but I understand why it clashes with some people haha I feel like the description with Philia and Mania is very much me and my best friend. In terms of how we are so different but so similar which has gotten us to butt heads sometimes. We work it out though of course and it all comes down to how we care for each other and are willing to listen and learn about each other and ourselves. I also love how you explained Pilias mace design. It oddly goes so well with me also because I'm part of the aro/ace spectrum. Wild how this all can correlate completely unintentionally, obviously as you don't know me or my friends XD

Could I request you make these character's clothes RL?
Ludus: Be yourself!
Eros: Be open with your partner!
Mania: Murder is okay.
Philia: Love each other!
I love how mania is so grim and others are like LOVE! (Character design wise and in this comment )
I think another symbolic part of Mania’s bow is that it’s a long range weapon, unlike the others. Someone in manic love may actually drive their loved one farther away with their actions, and unrequited or guilty love can create a sense of isolation and loneliness
Love the deep thinking! 💗
This ATE oh my god
Imma need you to write all my essays cuz this was so good
literally not my enemies to lovers rodent brain going “haha, Mania and Philia having a reconciliation arc while also being foils for each other would make for a such a juicy, angsty relationship”-
👀😉
I'm..kinda for it
They both rant to Eros about the other one and she's this close to locking them in a closet. The only thing stopping her is the knowledge there will be bloodshed if she does.
girl, i was thinking the exact same thing.
Ludus would def panic when someone cries and just, press her rabbit into their face. Half to make them feel better, half to soak up the tears
Us singles just here for the aesthetic of Valentines day😅
Omg fr same ☠️♥️
The first single Valentines after a stressful relationship feels freakin amazing tho 😂❤
literally cross stitching an aromantic flag while watching the video lol
The amount of likes is concerning. But same.
Eros gives the vibes of, not a parent, but an aunt that you go to for things you would never tell your parents and ask her for advice you’d be embarrassed of.
projecting time: the Love Gals™ meet an aromantic person who's struggling with either some platonic relationship or accepting their aromanticism and not trying to force themselves into something. at first the girls are confused because this seems like almost the opposite of what their job is, but they come to realize that they can also work with other kinds of love outside of romance. like self-love, platonic love, familial love, and love for hobbies/interests or for animals.
i think it'd be a very cool episode/arc later in the show, where they not only help the mortal but also learn more about themselves, maybe break out of the mold and what they feel they have to be a little. character growth!
chocolate strawberry is very much giving Madoka Magica and i love that so much
Omg same I love her
I had a similar idea to turn holidays into magical girls, I was going for a kind of Sailor Moon meets Rise of the Guardians vibe & the team consisted of Christmas, Easter, Halloween, St. Valentine's Day, & Mardi Gras-themed magical girls.
The premise was that these magical girls were chosen to fight off Grimps (Grinch + Imp BTW), who would drain humanity of their Holiday Spirit.
I'm living for the mundane corporate energy oh my god 🤌
@@PricklyAlpaca OMG hi queen!
i love this concept so much!!
She'd also have a black cat as a mascot & her transformation item would be a Jack O'Lantern-Shaped Purse.
this is so cute omg!!! a mardi gras magical girl would be so fun im surprised ive never seen that idea before
Philia everything time she’s called: please let this be a normal field trip
The rest: With the humans? No way!
About Mania, I think that a few plot things would contribute for her going on a darker path for some time:
1-She's very intense personality wise and as much as the other girls like to have their fun, I think they are all a little sick of this almost theatrical approach to love that Mania finds interesting, since they spend most of their time begging humans NOT to see things in black and white.
Obviously that didn't happen lol
*i don't have anything interestign to say other than a good premise for the show to even start is that some magical stuff happens and suddenly there are invisible love demons that feed of negative lovergy (love energy) spawning in the city, and Cupid just gives the girls their weapons and all of a sudden the magical therapists now have to kill monsters on the side too. They are clearly not trained for this. There are multiple fire happening around the city and somehow all of them are their fault. (New challenges + them being tired from the new workload + blunt weapons = them getting even more unhinged)
Sorry for going inasane, it will happen again👍.
This is so good I would watch the heck out of it!
i adore this
I really need to see more of this
Could totally visualise this in my head, very good ideas!
YES the lovecore girlies are EATING TODAY
I love this!
Out of all your design videos (if I watched them all) I think this one has the biggest fun show energy! The premise is unique and simple enough to let the other aspects shine. I can already imagine an episode where one the humans "falls in love" with one of the girls and doesn't want to be helped anymore, so the other three all team up to try and get the human uninterested because they need to atleast complete a little of the mission to be able to go back to their metaphysical state
I LOVE LUDUS' DESIGN SO MUCHHH AAAAA so punk and colourful its amazing
since ludus dabbles in a lot of like young love and teenage crushes and stuff like that, i can totally see her giving good advice in a chaotic way but also veryyy much see ludus getting into the tea with like a 5 year old girl who has a crush on someone in kindergarten, totally like in a tea party and plushies type setting with a little kid ranting about their first crush on the playground omggg
I can honestly see this being a whole webtoons series - the lore and characters are so cool and the story itself would have such amazing themes and commentary about love, sex and relationships, abuse, emotional trauma, personal growth and individuality. I love it so much!
i love how you were talking about how mania is a total menace and then goes like "she's super sweet and kind'
Mania in my mind is screaming “chocolate bombs” as a weapon, like chaotic and explosive. I love the designs tho!
These are some delightful designs, but Mania has to be my absolute favorite. Happy Screw-the-Commercialism-But-Love-the-Aesthetic Day!
Omg why is this the perfect ending 🥺❤️
Since Eros is so mischievous I feel like she’d be responsible for all the awkward little moments when like you trip and fall in front of your crush or onto them, all the little misunderstandings that end up making the characters understand how much they actually care about each other. i'm thinking like manwah/romance manga terms. Eros definitely would be obsessed with romance and spicy manga that's littered with misunderstandings.
I like Eros most because of my love for the Eros x Psyche story but I was most excited to see the chocolate strawberry character design
Ended up liking Mania's character design the most
I love your art!
You are DEFINITELY going to have some distinctive stories to tell about your "special day" in years to come!! 🤣
@@anna_in_aotearoa3166 so true 🤣
Petition for the villain's designs

Yeah like they love all the bad things like r.i.p people graveyards and hurting people in the most sad ways possible Toxic Gaslighters
yess what if the gods of bad feelings, like oizys the godess of pain and distress or someone had their own magical girl type characters but instead of doing eros's work they try to spread bad feelings and hurt humans, so the eros girls has to fight them
Really fun concepts, always love the addition of animal companions and weapons.
I love all these girl designs ! We need more cute themed candy girls ! The designs all turned out so cute and the color palettes are just perfection !
Yes make the JACKET! Id love to see that.
People who want to see the valentines heart jacket
👇
Yeah!! It's so cute! Watching the video I kept thinking "I NEED to make this!"
But I just really loved the designs, the concepts and the story behind them 💜
I'm single but as a writer I live vicariously through my character ships. It's a win win
Have you ever considered designing anthropomorphic animals? I feel like they could be an interesting challenge!
32:05 these are bubble braids btw!
For conflict between the characters, it'd be cool to play with the idea that even if they are experts in their own philosophies of love they still struggle with the 4 other concepts as a group:
Storge- in the close friendship they've had over centuries (?) it probably feels as if they're close family (with all the fights that come with that) or the overall "parental" guidance they struggle with when helping mortals. (with all the pranking ect.)
Agape- love of humanity, or selfless love.
Valentine's Day is the anniversary of Saint Valentine who was killed for marrying couples against the wishes of the King at that time.
As a valentines day baby, this is like a late bday gift

MICARAH TEWERS MENTIONED ‼✂✂‼✂👗
Omg, dude, this is screaming magical girl vibes!! I would totally love to see this as like a mini little animated series of these girls doing the best they can lol very beautiful work!
I feel like it could be interesting if Cupid specifically made mania in the image of Psyche (if I remember they're married in mythology) and that could contribute to why she's obsessed with love.
Kira out here drawing women that are the embodiment of “I love the kind of woman that will actually just kill me”
i LOVE. L O V E the skin tone and body inclusivity in this video!!! keep up the representation
Idk if anyone else can imagine it, but I feel like velvet (hazbin hotel) would be the perfect voice claim for Ludis
I love all of them. chocolate covered strawberries is probably one of my favorites. I kind of now want to make a version these characters like demigods, or angels of my love goddess in my D&D world. Because I think that would be so cool.
Ludus has definitely said "Its just a prank bro" at least once
Aka their words are weapon of choice, maybe a person who breaks many a heart which in turn calls in our cast to rectify the situation) Since cherries often are depicted in pairs you can even make them twins and its one of those weird twists? like "Oh wow! they were two separate people the whole time! thats wild. We just thought it was one weird guy this whole time)
I'm going to type is so palpable
I'm obsessed with the design and story of mania SHE'S GORGEOUS 🥺🥺🥺🤩🤩💖💖💖💖💖
Mania and Philia are giving teamates to enemies to lovers vibes
i'm not even done watching, but with the finishing of Ludus I couldn't help but imagine her trying to hand some kid the bunny only for that kid to have a phobia of rabbits 😭
name ideas!
ludus/candy hearts: lucille/lucy. the candy hearts remind me of i love lucy
eros/heart lollipops: might be corny to go with eris, but to be slightly less on-the-nose ill say erika lol [shes my favorite too, its not because of the fetish wear shhhh]
mania/box of chocolates: mandy
philia/chocolate strawberries: philomena
Eros’ fit reminds me personally of one of the outfits Chappell Roan wears in her music video for ‘My Kink Is Karma’ and I am now obsessed.
Love love love the video and the designs, but as a nerd, I have some things to point out (just because I'm so interested in the topic of where the names came from):
Cupid is the Roman "equivalent" (lots of differences, but to most modern people, this is the best description) of Eros, the ancient Greek primordial god of love (sex and desire, more accurately).
"Ludus" is Latin, which just means "game" - not "love as a game."
"Mania" is almost the same as the modern English word, simply meaning insanity.

11:40 MAKE THE LUDUS JACKETTTT
a cool idea I had while seeing mania was that maybe when she does fall for a mortal, the mortal wants to be with someone else so she tries to sabotage the relation ship but it always backfires in someway so she ends up breaking the rules from cupid to get her way and hiding it from the group and that can lead to the rogue mania arc idk i just love it when a good guy goes bad in a story
Tbh i think it’d be rlly funny if the weapons where like magic wands? Like they hit you with the very scary looking weapon but it doesn’t hurt but oh boy your life’s gonna change now
I would love to see a vid of you constructing the Ludus puffer💗
Do this again but Easter Candy
♡
What if Mania is trying to steal Cupids job because Cupid and her are exes and mania is being petty/vengeful
they would all be wonderful to cosplay, but eros especially looks like something that would be cool to put together and wear to a con ❤️❤️
This is honestly one of my favourite storylines you’ve made for your character designs, I am so desperate to know more please do something with them, I love them
Also your characterization inspires me so much. I love the little quirks and character arcs you come up for them they really help round them out, and I really need to work on that for my characters because they are kinda one more right now
The twilight music keeps throwing me off bc it's my ring tone so i keep getting ticked about someone calling me at such a late hour lmao
Also mania came out so beautiful! I can definitely say she's probably my favorite design and color palette out of this bunch (one day i will learn how to make complex costumes, and she will be on the list of what to make)
I DON'T CARE HOW CHAOTIC IT WOULD BE, I WANT TO MARRY ALL OF THEM ❗❗❗
Since Dune: Part two and Saint Patrick's Day are coming in March, maybe you could so some kind of fairy-themed sci fi character design video? 👀
Eros does remind me a bit of Rouge from Sonic, but I love her all the same. All these designs are awesome.
Now, her feathered end isnt far enough towards the middle of the arrow to produce any dramatix curves, but i still think its a really cool insight in to her character and deception

The villain should be the various types of hate!!
It would be rlly cool if maybe mania ended up in a relationship with one of the villains(heartbroken hate?) and then the villain became a magical girl/hero of like when ur heartbroken but then u love again ik??????!!!!!!
I love how these demigods don’t have any actual powers and are essentially just therapists😭
32:10 those are bubble braids! Love em sooo much!!
Fuck yeah I adore Valentine’s Day because of the art people make and the Aestheticccc it’s so yammy
I swear I become a New York Times writer every time Kira releases a a character design video😭😭😭
theyre all so gorgeous and i am in love 😭 yet again, i would consume media content about characters youve created.
No idea if someone said this already, or if you already figured it out, but the hair you drew on Philia is actually called "bubble braids".
Also, the designs and art are absolutely scrumptious, another 10/10 video!
Oh i would love to see you make the strawberry mace!! Its so cool and i think you could translate it into a 3d object really effectively!
The last one is so me XD I'm very blunt. I can't help it. It can be very helpful but I understand why it clashes with some people haha
I feel like the description with Philia and Mania is very much me and my best friend.
"she is very PAW-sitive" 27:30 lol
I want all their familiars to have names. The bear should be called Cuddles
i rhink.... u should design like... vocaloids..... maybe for specific genres?? thatd be cool :3
i love the lore in this one its great. i kinda hate valentines day personally but this was a great watch and your art is rad as always :)
