- One of the best ways to control insects is to add native plants and perennials that will draw in beneficial insects. That is our next step on moving the Strowd Rose Garden from Chemical to Sustainable.
Hi, I am in zone 7a, Connecticut. The temperatures are now in upper 80 F.s mostly. Only 1 or 2 days it have been 92F./ 93F. But it has been raining once or twice every week. I don’t know why my rose leaves are yellowing a lot and also having lots of leaf burn. Few small branches have burned too along with the leaves. I have been watering them with Neptune Harvest organic seaweed once a week. I applied organic granular fertilizer once a month since April. Can you please help me understand what’s wrong with my Roses ? What should I do to cure this? Please advice.
The yellowing could be the heat. Roses will shed leaves when it's hot and go semi-dormant. As to the burning that's hard to tell without photos. Are you on Facebook? I have a discussion group called Paul Zimmerman Roses Gardening. Ask to join and you can post photos there.

Hi. I am in zone 7a, Connecticut. Just wanted to ask you if it is too late to apply some organic mushroom compost to my established (2/3 years old) roses. My favorite mushroom compost was out of stock until yesterday, so I could not apply it to my roses this spring. Can I apply now?
Not too late.

Hi Paul, What is the best bloomer booster for roses? I am in zone 7a, Connecticut.
I like Captain Neptune's Fish and Seaweed fertilizer. Also Rose Tone works well.
