I liked having the air hose on hand while routing. Never thought to do that, always just kept a brush nearby or pulled down my mask to blow off the chips
little tecniques like that one, the simple wood clamps at 2:05 and the little pieces of ply to hold the charger at 22:15 are so cool to me. Probably effective solutions he came up with experience.
This guy is such a nice guy. I just went and checked his plans. Most of them are free. I truly believe he does this because he enjoys sharing with hobby. Great work sir Love from Sri Lanka
Anyone else start out thinking, "nice I'll be able to do this one," and finish the video like, "damnit pask , I can't even come close. " Love all the stuff. Thanks man
@@PaskMakes one day for sure. Still building the collection and practicing on stuff for the shop. Keep being awesome man, really love the stuff. Inspiration.
If you don't have a router, use a coping saw. If you don't have a table saw, a circular saw can do the same thing - you can clamp a board down as a guide fence of necessary. Hell, you can use a hand saw, but it's going to be a workout. A round gouge can get you the hole for the charger. A forstner bit and router do make it easier, but they're not necessary. Just takes knowing how to work with what you have, or what you can get.
You've done a stellar job. I found my desk downstairs in this apartment block. Someone had dumped it and put a note on it "Free". I took it in to my flat and made a bunch of modifications to it to make it suit my needs. I wish it was a bit wider but otherwise, it does the job.
Thanks, Neil. You brought back so many wonderful memories of my dad making things for my mom, sister & me over the years. He put as much love in his construction as you do. Well done.
I wish we had form plywood here in Kentucky - USA, were I live, and not even on list of suppliers that I know about. Your son will have a that desk for years of enjoyment. Good job. Thanks for sharing
For some reason I had it in my head that a tapering jig *needs* a runner underneath, but I can see now that it really just needs the fence at the right spot. That should make my life easier next time I have to create a quick one like you did here. Thanks!
Very nice. It is a slick design that reminds of the mid century Danish furniture. I would have included a power outlet or a power strip for a laptop, monitor, etc.
I always enjoy coming back to watch your videos again because they are so inspirational and I thoroughly enjoy the techniques used throughout Neil. Ikia? Not a patch on this fella. 😉😉
Skewer trick is most excellent. I've been using a variation of that for years. I made a slide rule like tool that operates the same way, just is a dedicated tool.
Happy Birthday Bradley! Your dad did a great job making your desk. The design is so clean and elegant. He built it well so you may be able to hand it down to your children.
So many wonderful projects!!! If I may make any suggestions after watching for so long. (Big fan of what you do!). The end of video project clips needs to be every bit of 30 seconds! Too short sometimes! You know it's almost as bad as someone changing the channel on you! Lol! Wait! I want more!!! Thanks for sharing your wonderful works! Really impressive! Cheers!
Good choice for the top. It lasts a very long time. I have a couple of bench tops made from the more industrial grade one and they are not treated with care, and they've faired well under the abuse.
Sometimes a surprise source of that kind of thing is an old treadmill, usually gotten for free. The floors on those can be REALLY nice stuff. I got one that had a really nice piece of MDF coated 3/4" ply. I'm still not sure what to do with it, other than a glue table. It would be perfect, NOTHING sticks to that stuff, and it was free. Treadmills are a great source of all kinds of thing, and you look like a hero when you remove people's reminder of their failure and give them floor space back.
@@willmorrison1022 Yup. The coating is a plastic type (if memory serves me right) that's akin to teflon. And it has to be, if you think back to its intended use, i mean, concrete is one of the stickiest materials we can make, that's not directly glue. I've tools, that i had to dip in acid, to get the metal sheen back to them, after they were touched by concrete. So yeah, if you want a surface to work on, you cannot do better, short of spending the money on a teflon slab, which is infinitely more costly.
Looks very neat and smart to include a wireless charger. You could scratch a lightening bolt into the paint of the form ply to show where the charger is
Thanks Ben! I actually thought about doing that. I also thought about setting four dowels at the corners of where the phone sits and flush them off. :)
I like the desk and I like the video. One observation, cut the laminated stuff to size and nail it to another section of ply that isn't laminated. Saves an awful lot of sanding and grinding.
Gorgeous! I particularly love the way the bevel on the underside turned out even if it's not very visible in the finished desk. So glad your son likes it! There's just something special about things someone you love makes for you 😊
This looks amazing - what a present! My four year old son and I love watching your videos - please don’t take this the wrong way but he finds your presentation very calming and it helps him go to sleep some nights... Might want to round over the bottom exposed edges/corner of the drawer section. I might be overly cautious but I reckon unless your son is super careful that might bite him at some point.
That skewer measurement truck for the drawer bottoms was worth watching the video for alone! So much easier than the method I was using. Great desk design too.
Well done! 👍 Love the deceptively simple retro-look of desk. Your remarkable skill as well as your love for your son are beautifully depicted in this video. Your son is blessed to have such a incredibly talented and loving father. ❤️
Neal, I really like the FormPly look especially with the laminations exposed in a bevel profile. Your sons taste is exquisite. Nice touch adding wireless charger.
Beautiful and very nice design. Very nice video this week. Can't wait to see ur next videos. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Keep Making. God Bless.
You are so talented! I love how you make your own jigs and walls as you need them. So smart! Your kids are super lucky to have such a Master Craftsman as their Dad.
The Australian version of a foureyes desk. haha. One I feel is slightly more achievable... Because I can attain those materials, at least. haha. Thanks for sharing mate!
I really appreciate the detail you put into your work, especially wiping off the excess glue with a damp rag to make clean-up and sanding easier. Small step, but it's really pleasing too look at being done as it shows the care you take throughout the entire building process.
WoW love this video mate , you know I still have every birthday fathers day and Christmas present my kids made me , and my youngest is 37years old. It's not the value of it it's the throat and love that went into it. Im shore Bradley will love the desk and his children to one day. Cheers :)
If anyones interested the plans are available here www.paskmakes.com/plans/p/plywood-desk
Hello, great work, but I cannot find the free plans for this desk?!!
The best unspoken tip in this video is the bamboo skewer measuring trick. It begins at 17:00 so cool. Love this desk brother
Yeah, he used this years ago, talked about then.
I liked having the air hose on hand while routing. Never thought to do that, always just kept a brush nearby or pulled down my mask to blow off the chips
@@chrisgriffith1573 Must’ve missed it. Makes sense why he didn’t mention it here. Suppose he didn’t wanna sound like a broken record.

Easily the best channel on UA-cam. Every single video is entertaining.
Loooove form ply for the quality vs cost. Awesome for shop furniture. Nice use here in real furniture 👍🏻
The angled surface edge looks really great! Plywood layers typically aren't very attractive, but you've managed to make them a highlight!! Well Done.
Yes. I would have used them for the top they were so attractive.

Very nice as usual. Bradley is a lucky lad. Hope he enjoys it.

Thanks for the video. Love the skewer trick for measuring the drawer botton.
