What a saga. Everything that is wonderful about Zwift and the amazing community is captured in this ride. It was a privilege to be a part of it. As Erik would say, you set those goals and smash them. Well done mate 🎉
Wonderful video. Amazing effort Ryan. You did so good. It’s inspiring to say the least. Also how great was Erik! Wow. He deserves so much praise for his role! Super kudos to you both and all the others!
Wow! Great video Ryan, very powerful and inspirational to all people getting into cycling! You crushed ADZ and I agree, Erik was an amazing hype man that anyone could benefit from during a ride lol Keep up the great work and look forward to the next event and more content with Erik!!
What an inspiring uplifting video!! brilliant mate!! well worth the wait! I jumped on an FTP ramp test straight after watching this as you got me pumped! and the month I’ve been on Zwift I’ve increased my FPT from 167 to 212!! As a 117kg rider. Thanks Ryan! I hope you know just how many people you’re inspiring!
Oh man. I so wanted you to smash the 80 and you came so close. Fantastic effort. You are an inspiration to so many people. Wiping 5 mins off your PB is awesome.
AWESOME WORK!!!! SO BUMMED I MISSED IT!! Well done Ryan- this is the Heart of the Zwift (and UA-cam) community! nearly left a tear in my eye! and I fully plan on taking a vacation day for the next challenge whenever it is! I will prioritize it!
Great video, great ride. I got caught on that banner too. Not enough oxygen going to the brain at that stage for me to work out what was going on. Eventually worked it out. Got my PB though - thanks. Would love to hear some stats on the most PBs on a Zwift race. Sounds like loads of people got theirs on this.
Ryan, I’ve watched a few of your vids and caught up on your back story. I’ve got to say, you truly are inspirational. My philosophy is that you have the mental discipline and that little bit of a loose screw that would have made you elite had you started this as a kid. Keep being you! Love it and thanks for the entertainment.
Thanks Kristian. I really appreciate that comment. Unfortunately the only thing I was elite at was eating and drinking. I'm pleased you like my vids. 🙏
@RyanCondon - Dodgy heart follower here (you may or may not remember but had 4.5 months off in Jan with minor dodgy ticker..oops). Still on the very slow rebuild but just watched this whilst sitting in Zone 2 on the turbo for 2 hours at 5.30 in the morning and was so inspired by how deep you dug. PBs are meant to be tough as they reflect the best you can be on that day....and you proved that. You dug deep, got the result and inspired a lot of other people at the same time. Massive congrats bud and hope training continues to push and open up new boundaries for you. My goal for next year is this Alp in under 60 mins so I'll watch this video again just before I do my effort for extra motivation 😀
Thanks Zebeddy. I do remember. I'm pleased to hear you're back on the mend and back training. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment. Sub 60 ADZ is no small feat. Good luck, keep me updated. :))
That was really entertaining Ryan! From Eric screaming to the gang all around you supporting and their comments!...What a ride and a PB to boot! well done you mate, exceptional cycling!!
Massive respect Ryan for how much work you've put in, wish I could've joined you but I'd got carried away riding my gravel bike in the mountains in the day and was too knackered.
Your best video yet, Ryan. When you were standing on your bike, I realized I was rocking back and forth in my chair, virtually cycling with you. So much fun. You'll crush 80 minutes next time.
that was a great effort , checked your HR once , was close to 170 bpm , you worked your ass off , mad respect for that , next time you crack the 80 mark for sure , and thx again for putting this event on with the man Erik , hyper hyper
Great event and crazy effort! I'm so gutted that I missed it 😮💨 Congrats on PB! 🥳🥳 I defo will join next time! Quick question: what is the camera that you use to record yourself indoor? Ride on! 🙌
Dude that scream at the end almost blew my eardrum hahahahahahaahah. Eric sounded like he wanted to strangle you after you stopped, i laughed so hard. So close
Hi Ryan, Well done. Super event, I didn’t follow you up the climb, but tried to beat my pb. However I failed, pb was 1:09:51 and I managed 1:10:47. Last time I did the alpe was dec 2022, so its been a While, but you made me try again.
Ryan, thanks for the ride. I’ll have to admit to me it was like any other ride I’ve done up the Alp. I never saw you. I was doing my own thing at my own pace as you have to do. Think I came in about 45th (not bad for a 66year old) 59mins 50sec. I’ve gone faster but I’m getting older these days. I guess for you it was amazing and I understand that. For that many people to feel part of the event is impossible on Zwift. I enjoyed the ride up but it was just another ride up the Alp. Sorry. Keep doing the fantastic content though. It’s a great channel in so many ways.
I have to say that the best times I've had have been screaming and struggling with my teammates, that I've never met, on discord. So much of a team energy, you feel like you've known the person forever
An awesome event and interesting to see how much power you push pot when standing, I've trained to stand because seated is way weaker for me, I know all the guff you hear says otherwise but seated training can offer another avenue to climb faster, I did the whole climb standing. We need another shot at the Alpe bro!!
It was great riding with you Ryan, knocking 5 minutes off your PB is brilliant. I was surprised by the finish line too and not being able to see my climb ET it was a nice surprise to snag a PB myself. I’d like to tell you it gets easier but it doesn’t, it hurts just as much but maybe for less time 🤢. Even if your power stays the same, in a week or a months time you will be lighter and the times will come. 👍
Thanks Alan. You have no idea how much that p'd me off. At least I didn't unclip like Nathan did. Congrats on your PB my friend, that's awesome and makes me happy. I lost 1.5kgs since the ride and now I'm down to 95.5kgs.💪🙏
What an event! I’m so crushed I missed it. 4am start time here in Australia was a bit too much. 😅 Congrats on the massive PR Ryan. I know you were so excited at the start and went out a bit too hot but you finished strong. Next time try going out fraction slower than goal pace/power. So if your target is to average 225 watts, go out around 215 watts for the first 3-4 corners then settle into your target watts and go hard for the last 3 corners. With better pacing, I think you can go up even faster without getting any fitter. 👍
Well done Ryan. You are truly inspiring. So much so that I have encouraged my kids to watch what a dedicated and focused individual can do. You have accomplished so much. I have to say that another reason I had no qualms to have my kids watch is that you have been “clean” in your content: language and video. I was off put by how much cussing was in this video. I will stay a sub, but feel I have to screen the video if I am to encourage my kids to watch. Continue in your goal reaching. Rooting you on!
Yeah, there was alot of naughty language in this vid. I make a conscious decision not to include swearing, I don't swear alot in my life so no need for it to be in my vid however I left it in this video as it felt like it was part of the effort and sometimes the only word that can be used to describe how I was feeling. I know Erik has made a 'cleaner' version. Thanks for watching. 🙌 Good luck to your kids. 💪🙌
Congrats on your new PB! I'm here after watching Eric's video, and I want to share one piece of advice about climb pacing: Shallower slopes are for recovery only, unless you're at the end and emptying the tank. There are mathematical reasons for this; if you're interested, I can explain.
Thanks. Im pleased you're here and enjoyed the vid. If I'm honest, plans go out the window when I'm exhausted. Please feel free to offer any tips that may help me.
@@RyanCondon First, you have to understand the importance of consistent speed. Imagine a climb that's 10 miles long, and your goal is to do it in 1 hour. You would need to average 10 mph. Now imagine there's a steep half and a shallow half. One might think they could average 9 mph on the steep half and 11 mph on the shallow half, or 8 mph and 12 mph, etc. But take that to the extreme with 0 mph and 20 mph. zero and 20 average to 10, but 0 mph average means you never moved. Even at 5 mph on the steeper half, your goal has failed, because the hour is now spent. (Look up "Einstein car riddle" if you want to understand this better.) Following a good pacing plan will help avoid early exhaustion. 😉 Here's a generalization of how I pace my climbs: First, I estimate my target average power for the climb (based on previous attempts, power curve, strava, etc.). Let's say 200 watts for this example. Then, I break that into three power ranges. Let's say I'm doing a climb that averages 7% grade. Any time I'm on 6-8% grade, I'm at my target average power. Anywhere on the climb is steeper than that, I'll add ~15% to my power, so around 230 watts. Anywhere shallower than that, I'll take off ~15% power, or around 185 watts. This helps to maintain a more consistent speed while not producing too much lactic acid, and also giving opportunity for it to clear. Another tip: Don't listen to others about what cadence you should turn, or when you should or shouldn't be in the saddle. I sometimes spend the majority of a climb out of the saddle. I can put out more power with less cramping that way. But that's just me. Some people will rarely get out of the saddle. Listen to your own body. That feels like it turned long-winded, but I hope you find value in it. I haven't been cycling for long, but this has helped me put up climb PRs that rival much more experienced and higher FTP cyclists I ride with.
Well done Ryan. Got to give a shout out to Ty Diddy too. I loved this race even if I didn't get a PB. Don't think I've ever seen so many people attempt the alpe outside of an official Zwift race. You did that, you and Erik, hats off to ya. Make the next race easier! 🤣🤣
Epic Video Ryan and absolutely loved the 'encouragements' from Erik! Again, great effort and congrats with your PB!💪💪 As my own legs left the chat around corner 6 and saw your party disappearing in the distance I could've used some Canadian motivation as well 🥵 Never had this much suffering fun up the Alpe as this time so count me in for a next attempt sometime (Except when you organize a PRL Full party 😆, did it solo 2 days ago, cannot recommend it ☠)
@@RyanCondonThanks Ryan! I didn't realise until I saw your video today, but after I finished the climb I came back down to ride with you up to the finish again, I didn't realise you couldn't actually see me because the event had finished for me. So I could see you, but you couldn't see me. I thought I was helping to pace you up and you couldn't even see me 😂!
Thank you so much for making this event. It was by far the best race i've ever done on Zwift. Cant wait for the next "Ryan Condon Epic Race". By the way, how was your legs the days after?
@@RyanCondon Actually really good. I think i underestimated my own strenghts, because some of the races i do on Zwift seems much harder than the AdZ ride i had. So i might gonna have to do another attempt where i go all out, until i see stars like you :)
Hey Ryan this was one of my most favorite rides on zwift. I love to see people going outside their comfort zone. My avg hr for the event was 111 but this was about you and your effort. So awesome to see. I enjoy your vids and your progress. Keep it up and lets break zwift with an amazing Ryan the Condor event. Think of us tomorrow as we are doing a 500k event for breast cancer. A ride on will suffice. Cheers bud and keep on keeping on. Oh i love you bud.❤😂😂
I swear, if I ever get into zwift it will be because of you and these videos, and to join a ride of yours. Most random thing happened the other day, when my most significant Strava CR was overtaken by someone sharing your name. It took me a minute before I realized why the name sounded so familiar, given this occurred far from you.
Such a great effort Ryan ! Great that you got the P. B 💪This was by far my favourite ever ride I’ve had on Zwift , I also stopped at that first banner after nearly killing myself during the last push after corner 1 , I had riders come back past me before the finish line 🫣. The group I rode up with were amazing and I smashed my P.B finishing in 65 minutes, that leaves me the 1hr goal to beat next time you organise a race 👍 S.O’Hare
Very nice effort man. That banner at the end was absolutely the dumbest thing I've ever seen. You gave it your all and that's all that can be expected of anyone. Good Job!!

Double boom!!! Well done 💪
That was intense - I joined but couldn’t ride. Next time
Hey Ryan this was one of my most favorite rides on zwift.
Good luck. 500k, you're not messing about. Hope you smash it. 🙌🙏
Thanks for the upload and the opportunity to join the ride. When is the next one so I can join
Thanks Jackie for joining in. Not sure when or what the next one will be yet but I'll make another vid about it.
top class
Cheers🙌
Very well done! You have put Essex on the map for cyclists. Forget Alex D. and thighs club. Best wishes from Medway, Kent.
I feel sorry for Essex Cyclists... Thanks for watching Fran!
@@RyanCondon P.S. I have subscribed to your channel.
@@francodellamura7471 Thank you Fran!
Mr Condon, you legend, well done, smashed another pr. Is the next video the video where we know what bike is coming?😂
Thank you sir. I've got a couple of exciting vids coming. 🙏🙌
I swear, if I ever get into zwift it will be because of you and these videos, and to join a ride of yours.
Most random thing happened the other day, when my most significant Strava CR was overtaken by someone sharing your name. It took me a minute before I realized why the name sounded so familiar, given this occurred far from you.
oh, I thought my ears were burning.
Ryan, what was trainer difficulty setting used for the ride?
60%
I regret missing this race😢. You must do it again!
I will. 👍
65 minutes is incredible. Welldone!
What difficulty setting do you guys have trainer on ?
Mine was on 60%
You did great Ryan...congrats...next time you will have 75 minutes no issues 💪🏆
5 mins off everytime. No probs. 🤣🙏🙌
Goals must be crushed 💪😁
@@RyanCondonLate reply. Got ADZ done today in 58.13. Have not done this at all in a very long time. Also felt way harder then i remember.
@@a_diverge cracking time. Welldone.
Oh! I missed it. When repeat? 😉
Im not sure. Need to plan something.
Very nice effort man. That banner at the end was absolutely the dumbest thing I've ever seen. You gave it your all and that's all that can be expected of anyone. Good Job!!
Thanks Craig!
Ryan did you see Ty Diddy's UA-cam video of the ride?
I deffo did and liked your comment on it. He killed it. Unbelievable achievement.
@@RyanCondon He really did. I just about caught him before I died. He put 3 minutes on me in the last 4km.
I thought the first video was a tease.
You might have shed nearly 100kg Ryan but that doesn't make you a lap dancer. Get the video up!
You wouldn't have wanted a lap dance 100kg ago. I always upload at 4pm on a Friday. 😘
Did you eat Ryan or just liquid
BTW love you man 😂
Now you need to do a team vegan group ride to get the jersey!
I don't think they'd have me after this. 😅
Poor Ryan. Probably didn't understand what he signed up for.
Pain and suffering. 😅
