What about the Gun EZ / Gun Blastor, the ReZEL, the Rick Dias (and his brother Dijeh), the Bawoo, etc...? These are also very good candidates.
On the other hand, I personally think Re-GZ, should not be here since it saw so limited production -- instead of being a Mass Production as your video titled (besides, it's full name is "Refined Gundam Zeta", not Mass-produced Gundam Zeta). If Re-GZ is qualified for a mass-production machine, what about the two Z-Pluses, three FAZZ, three Mk-II and many V Gundams? Oh and I must mention that despite ReZEL's full name, it at least saw genuine mass production and variations.

speaking off reactor power, I've always wondered why you even need a reactor of sufficient power to use beam weapons that employ their own batteries. seems to defeat the point? could you explain why this is?

    • @stormmeansnowork
      @stormmeansnowork 6 років тому

That's probably not always the case, e.g. ZZ's head cannon or Sazabi's waist cannon are all connected to the body's generator, or in the case of V2, it's wings definitely eats a lot of energy. In any case, generator output actually is a minor point in Gundam saga, not sure why it's mentioned here either.

Sadly,. this is one of those times that Tomino completely pooched it looking to future technology. There is fundamentally no reason why the Back Weapons System could not be an autonomous drone system whose on-board computer could maneuver while being undocked from the mobile suit. In fact, giving the Back Weapons System the ability to engage in combat while undocked would act as a force multiplier, making it a far deadlier alternative to a transforming mobile suit.

@@marcosdheleno if a certain manga is to be believed(considered canon):
apparently, it was based on a half-baked "Fake" Zeta, and the BWS was mostly meant to be "disposable", where it's primary role was meant only to allow it to cruise into the battle field, and give it a "first strike" capability, while the base unit itself is fully combat capable on it's own, but whether if it could last long in battle was COMPLETELY dependent on the pilot's skill. because unfortunately, the engineers behind the Re-GZ failed to account for the top of the line Geara Dogas fielded by Neo Zeon(typical inter-departmental rivalry within Anaheim, between the original EFF team, and the post-war absorbed Zeonic/Zimmad team)
apparently, according to some sources, the second Re-GZ's pilot decided to forego the entire BWS, and just use it as if it was a Jegan, and use a Base Jabber instead.

Another one to mention might be the RX-160 Byarlant, which was an attempt by Titans engineers to produce a Mobile Suit capable of atmospheric flight which did not rely on external booster systems or transformation gimmicks. One of the trial production Byarlants was piloted by Jerid Messa during the Gryps War, and it was intended to be mass-produced, but was passed over after it became clear that its armaments - a pair of integrated beam guns in its hands, plus two beam sabers - were not versatile enough to be useful. At least one example of an enhanced variant, the RX-160S Byarlant Custom, was produced after the war by the EFF, and fought in defense of Torrington Base when Zeon remnants attacked it in UC 0096.
Another good candidate for this sort of list would be the RMS-154 Barzam. Although not strictly an ace machine, the Barzam was an intended replacement for the aging RGM-79R GM II in Federation and Titans service. Based loosely on the design of the RX-178 Gundam Mk-II, the Barzam had some characteristic Titans embellishments, including a mono-eye and a custom beam rifle, though it could also use weapons intended for the Gundam Mk-II, RMS-106 Hi-Zack, RMS-108 Marasai and GM II. Though it was a reasonably high performance machine, it was considered "too ordinary" in its capabilities by Federation and Titans leadership, and never replaced the GM II as intended. Those few that were produced during its limited production run were relegated primarily to second-line duties and training.

    • @marcomeinnel6955
      @marcomeinnel6955 4 роки тому

There are errors in this. First the Byarlant was produced in a 3 more units pace version production from Jerid's(all of them are seen escorting reccoa when she sunk the dogosse guat). Then also the Barzam was just excellent, it was just introduced too late. It was one of the few Titans MS reused by the EFSF. Look at the BarGM, it was ome of the unit used in combination WITH GM III in the federation ranks

Definitely the Zaku III. I think what made the Zaku II and its Ace Pilots so dangerous was that each one was different and you never really knew what you were up against, as the MS' could be modified to be drastically different from one another. You might be fighting a Zaku with enhanced thrusters that can zip around you one second then get ambushed by one with two bazooka's and thicker armor.

I'd say the Doven Wolf would make the most sense to mass-produce. You essentially have one platform, the Doven Wolf, and just have to design various attachments, weapons and upgrade kits for it, in order to tackle various objectives and enemies.
Going on a scouting mission? Slap some sensor modules and long-range weapons on the damn thing! You need indirect artillery support? Put so many missles and targeting systems on it that it becomes impolite! Frontline Combat? Beam Sabers and rapid-fire, medium range weaponry! Attacking a Space Station? Bolt some grabbing claws on it, some missile racks, and maybe a beam rifle if you're feeling generous, then use the claws to get a large enough asteroid and... *ACHEM*
I think you get the idea...

Zaku III is a great mass production unit in concept. Mass production requires a certain ease of use, while still having solid performance, and the implimentation of INCOM weaponry and the quasi-psycommu system would greatly increase the Doven Wolf's performance, while putting a bit more strain on the pilot. Of course, when you have a more limited supply of pilots, the Doven Wolf looks much more appealing, but Zaku III still feels like a better production model overall.

1.) Sadly, the GM Custom was also one of numerous mobile suits that was seen as "too plain". As Kou said, "Remarkable for being totally unremarkable". The same thing would be why the Barzam wouldn't be adopted by the Titans in Zeta Gundam despite being an otherwise good all around mobile suit; nothing about it really stood out.
However, the GM Custom and GM Cannon II would ironically also be acquired and used by the AEUG near the end of the Gryps Conflict in Zeta Gundam (updated version).
2.) The ZZ's reactor was also increased even higher when it was upgraded to the Enhanced ZZ Gundam when preparing it for its Full Armor configuration - to a whopping 7860 kW. Only things that surpassed it was Neo Zeon's AMX-015 Geymalk (8320 kW) and, of course, the NZ-000 Quin Mantha / Queen Mansa at 21,370 kW.
3.) I also wish we got an explanation for why the Hyaku Shiki Kai mass production type ended up not making it. Same with the Nemo III, Rick Dias II, and others.
4.) Kind of weird how the Zeta Gundam never reaches any sort of full mass production, yet the Delta Gundam, which was essentially the first attempt at the Zeta Gundam and would go on to become the Hyaku Shiki, would eventually see such mass production with the ReZel in Unicorn Gundam (and even seeing its initial shelved design, complete with transformation, brought back to life with the Delta Plus) and such.
5.) Most likely was due to Mashymere and his Newtype power that made his customized Zaku III look way stronger than normal. Still a great mobile suit all around, but sadly, the Doven Wolf is the one that would continue to have a legacy in the form of the Federation's Silver Bullet (basically a captured Doven Wolf with a Gundam head).

There seems to be a major problem with the whole idea of the "Zaku III VS Doven Wolf competition", namely that it didn't happen as commonly assumed.
The Zaku III was deployed much earlier than the Doven Wolf, as you can see a couple of units during the Dakar parade at around mid ZZ series. You can even see these units in Gundam Unicorn, when the ECOAS commander is watching footage to find out if Audrey Burne is Minerva Zabi.
Furthermore, background info from the Dreissen's original model kit manual suggests that both the AMX-009 and AMX-011 were based on old Zeon MS to speed up their development, and as we know Rakan piloted a prototype Dreissen (depicted in the aforementioned manual) while leading a mission to other colonies similar to Mashymre's.
Therefore it seems that the vanilla AMX-011 was produced and introduced much earlier than assumed, likely around at the same time as the Dreissen.
What about the Doven Wolf's competition?
I think that the machine that competed with the Doven Wolf was the improved AMX-011S. This is best supported by the quick glimpse we get at the two Zaku III units seen among Glemy's forces launching from Axis. While using similar colors to the vanilla AMX-011, which might actually be the color scheme from Glemy's forces which is very similar, if you look closely you can see that these machines seem to have protrusions on their backs which seem to be the propellant tanks from a AMX-011S:
    vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/gundam/images/6/67/Glemyforces.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20150718172728
Other traits like the single antenna head and the round spike shoulder armor are not so clear, but do seem to be present. Lastly, these units seem to be using the infamous beam rifle included in the HGUC kit of the AMX-011S, but not actually used by Mashymre in the series:
    vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/gundam/images/6/60/Zaku_III_custom.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20111027005418
Then there's that red AMX-011S from Twilight of Axis, which in the novel is said to have been ordered by Haman Karn for Char. The novel is a bit ambiguous about these events, but does conclude saying that Char left Axis without piloting it even once. This does mesh well with the idea that the development of the Zaku III, along with the Dreissen, proceeded faster than other MS, given that they were base done listing designs.
My guess is that the vanilla Zaku III was ready early during the 1st Neo Zeon War, and that a standardized AMX-011S is the one developed late in the conflict as a high performance variant of the Zaku III, which ultimately lost against the Doven Wolf.

I think it's worth noting that they seemed to have finally perfected mass producing the Zeta Gundam in the form of the ReZEL. Unlike all of these suits though, it was relegated to mostly ROOKIE pilots. We see them used almost uniformly by subordinates to more ace pilots using the tried and true Jegan through our the whole of Unicorn.
I assume that familiarity with such an easy to produce and quick to repair and rearm mobile suit made its experienced pilots fall in love with its absolute field-worthiness while the ReZEL features a lot of large, clunky weapons, was usually a bigger target, and featured extra weapons, systems, etc that made learning to pilot it more difficult when an already perfectly capable machine in the form of the Jegan was already present.
The Jegan seems so extremely popular that we even see it phase out the GM line eventually over the next few decades.
Poor ReZEL. It just wants some love too.

Hyaku Shiki Kai is a branch of the ol' Hyaku Shiki from your other video on non existent MS's that got gunpla models. Check that for my commentary on the Delta Gundam, in which I mentioned the Type 100 (that's a direct translation of Hyaku Shiki). Basically, seeing that despite the Hyaku Shiki not having a working transformation system, the engineers figured they had something going (...the Hyaku Shiki was STILL in the Nahel Ahgama's Inventory by the time of ZZ after being put through its paces by Quattro Bajeena - how many years was that again?), so they decided to take the base design and perfect it, leading to the Type 100 Custom. The line ended as you stated - but the design wasn't left behind: the funnel equipped Sazabi was based off the Type 100 Custom I believe. Ironic if you know that Quattro, he is a Char. :3
Also, as I said before on the other thread, Anahiem's attempts at mass producing transformable units did not end with the Re-GZ (That's REformed Gundam Z in full mind).. The Re-GZ Custom was indeed one of a kind, but they weren't done yet - just look at the ReZEL, and the Delta Plus. Took up to the Unicorn era to do it, but they actually succeeded in making both a mass production Z Gundam, (which still didn't really sell, but nevermind), and a mass production transformable unit.

Earth side on the other hand focused in making something that can subsequentially function on any environment, taking in possible strategical inputs on how to deal with underwater, aerial and space battles.

Honestly the best fully fledged mass production unit would be the mass production zeta and the zaku III. If they increased the energy output, redesigned the mobile suit for sniping and special ops or even removed the head mega cannon entirely in favor of a simplified version of what the Rick Dias beam pistols used as a sort of beam head vulcan then they could have made a mass production type that could fight while doing similar damage to its previous design, albeit not all at once. They also could have mounted extra ballistic weapons and kept the beam rifle from ZZ. Furthermore if they reduced the output of the suits beam rifle a little bit then they might also he able to slip in a little increase for the beam vulcans. If I'm being honest, they could have used a system to change the output and using a limiter to force the suit to go back to its previous settings once it reached a certain threshold such as 3k Kw. That way they could keep the output of the machines beam weapons from stressing the generator too much while also giving decent enough performance to fight with mobile suits from the post war era/the second war. I chose the Zaku III because it's versatility and the name sake of the zaku in general. It would've been great to see the suit in CCA and have bigger presence in the Zeon Remnants on earth or with the Sleeves. I love these videos cause it makes me think of what they could've done to fix the suit and make up better designs and choices for the Federation to make while designing and producing them. Such as; using a GM Custom with the Alex Gundams chobham armor as well as a long range beam rifle and a secondary generator below the cockpit. This would make it so the suit has an increase in performance and more options for weaponry as well as the defensive capabilities of the Alex. If the armor was too badly damaged or the suit needed to provide front line support, it could quickly purge the armor or act as a defensive unit while its allies slipped away. They could cut costs by using spare parts and the same rifles from GM Sniper II's the suit would have a superior range of mobility, superior firepower, incredible defense, and the ability to play multiple roles in battle. Not to mention it could also be a proper mass production type successor to the Alex!

The Dijeh was built out out of a hybrid combination of parts with the Rick Dias being the central component. The Dijeh was built by the earth resistance movement from mobile suits and other spare parts left behind on earth by the AEUG after their ground campaign there. The Hi-Zack is what former Zeon engineers who went to work for the titans produced. The Dijeh is what other Zeon engineers who joined the resistance on earth were able to produce.

hands down the dolven wulf. that thing was almost equivalent to the gundam mk-V in therms of performance. the only reason the zaku III managed to up it, was due to plot contrievance. with that power, it might've been able to support an i-field.

At this point, I want to call the Re-GZ as the Federation's Space Coffin in comparison to the Zudah being the Zeon's Space Coffin, as after Amuro left the Re-GZ, all of its later pilots suffered the fate of dying in the battlefield (Chan Agi was its final pilot and was also killed in battle like Kayra, though she was killed by friendly fire from the eventual activist Hathaway himself).

What about the Zeta Plus? I dunno if you can talk about the ReGZ without at least giving a footnote to the first attempt to mass-produce a transforming Zeta...

Not gonna mention how the Doven Wolf was so good that the Federation made their own (the Silver Bullet)?
