A lot of channels do Patreon or UA-cam Memberships at a cost to the viewer which puts a lot of content behind a paywall, meaning it is pay to view, and a large amount of the subscriber base miss out on a lot of content, or the quality of the content available to non members reduces. I don’t like this approach.

Diana is a Polyphonic Dramatic Contralto, her natural low register is filled with overtones creating the polyphonic effect (what people describe as two notes at the same time).
Her voice is unique on this world and no one else can do what she does, this videos does not even show her full capabilities she can go both lower and higher, her overtones are crazy and she can manipulate them to an unearthly degree.
People are calling her the queen of goosebumps , there is just no performance of hers that does not evoke that feeling.
You should just listen to more from her, she is surely the most powerful and greatest female voice right now and she is so young, 18 years old on the video you watched and she just turned 21 now.
I suggest listening to her STUNNING cover of Chris Isaak's "Wicked game" next, you will get more of what you felt here and she was just 15 years old then.

UA-camr/ opera singer/ music producer Peter Barber reacted to this song and he doesn’t think Diana is a dramatic contralto, he says the term dramatic is primarily used for opera singers, he did say Diana is definitely a contralto but not a dramatic contralto.

This really is her voice. She has also had good vocal coaching as well. She has sung since 5 to learn how to talk, then from about 10 performing, and even then you could hear the beginning Contralto of her voice. This girl could not talk when 4 due to a lot of trauma, and much abuse. She was then adopted, and her current mom loves her very much, and her family is with her always. You should hear her sing on stage doing DUNE cover with full orchestra. She uses her whole body to sing, just as Celine Dion does. The staring judge is an Opera singer, famous in Russia, and noted the quality of her voice! She has about a 4-octive range now. Enjoy!! Yes, a true epic talent! Her passion for music is wonderful, and she just graduated at 21 with a degree in Music from the University. I was so happy to find such a talent, and she is a funny, graceful, kind, and very hard-working young woman. I hope she will be safe and happy in years to come doing the music she loves. Enjoy!

As a therapist I think you would be interested in hearing Tianas life story. Diana was born to an abusive alcoholic mother who beat her call Mandy collected her and even tried to drown her. At the age of three Diana was discarded by her mother on the street in the winter with a broken collarbone. Diana was turned over to an orphanage. Any thoughts therapist there took interest in Diana and ask her mother to adopt her which she did. At the age of five Diana was still so traumatized that she had trouble speaking so it was suggested that she be given voice lessons to help her learn to speak and it did work but I also discovered that she had an incredible voice and the rest is history in the making. Really enjoyed your analysis look forward to you reacting to Diana in the future

When her mother left her in the winter she nearly froze as she had no coat or warm clothes. Also she was the only child that survived her mother. It is not clear how many siblings of Diana died but 8 are documented. Sometimes when she sings I feel they are somehow with her in a way.

The Queen of Goosebumps have struck again! :)
There are backup vocals and even her own voice is used in short parts, this doesn't change the fact how extremely powerful and incredible this performance is.
    Captivating, breathtaking... marvelous.
I'm always captivated by performers who care about the message, the emotion, the art. True story tellers.
She was 18 here, recommend her Rechenka performance next, age of 14!!!! when she finally found a place to show herself, a show made for kids with tormented background called "You are Super!"... you judge if she was ready or not.... (she was, we and the judges weren't... :) )
    best quality Rechenka:

There’s no other voice like Diana Ankudinova’s. One of a kind. She’s the only singer that I’ve heard that’s able to use her polyphonic overtones to sing harmonies along with herself. She has so much more than just the overtones too. The only thing better than her voice is her character. You should definitely listen to more of Diana.

@@Saylor.Zac11 Yes Diana has naturally occurring “polyphonic overtones”, that is true. Your claim is that she “uses her polyphonic overtones to sing harmonies along with herself” - that is absolutely false. The way you constructed your comment it was clear you were referring to this performance, not her other You Are Super examples. It is also clear that you were attempting to buffer the reactors bemusement on the specific phrase in this performance and replace that dumbfoundedness with her “polyphonic overtones and harmonies” - that is misleading and quite plainly inaccurate and if you were indeed engaging any “critical thought” deliberately disingenuous.
Diana is incredible. Remarkable. A truly transcendent vocalist. If you truly did admire her character perhaps stop spreading disinformation under reactions to her videos, I’m sure she would respect you more for it. Diana doesn’t need any extra curriculum approbation, her authentic talent alone is more than enough.

She started singing at the age of 5 and has won more than 50 vocal competitions, including international ones. She sings in any musical genre and performed songs in her native language - Russian, as well as in English, French, Spanish, Arabic, German, and Ukrainian. One of my favorites by her is from the "Show Mask Go On" entitled "Oh, It's Not Yet Evening" ua-cam.com/video/cfTiQkJrLi0/v-deo.html. It's an over 300 year old folk song about a Cossack warrior who dreams of his death in an imminent battle. On Diana's face you see sadness, anxiety and pain of the soul of the Cossack warrior. Not to diminish her enormous talent and unique voice, but yes, I agree there were backing tracks where the sound engineers doubled her voice an octave lower. It's a competition and the competitors are allowed some support from the staging and lighting and sound technicians.
Dont get me wrong she is an enormous talent, and i am in awe of her talent.
    Yes epic.

18 year old Diana knocks their socks off. Diana has a unique and one of a kind voice. Nobody can replicate her. All voices have different frequency fragments other than their core tone. Diana has more and they are more audible than normal people. She's been known as the Queen of Goosebumps for half a decade now and she's only 21 years old and still in her last semester of University work at GITIS (The Russian Institute of Theatre Arts) in Moscow.

Stuart, the type of singing Diana is doing is called ‘Overtone Singing’ which can be done as chanting as well, also known as ‘harmonic Singing’, ‘polyphonic overtone singing’, or ‘diphonic singing’. It is a classical and opera singers set of singing techniques in which the vocalist manipulates the resonances of the vocal tract to arouse the perception of additional separate notes beyond the fundamental frequency that is being produced. Overtone singing shouldn’t be confused with throat singing, which uses a different technique. It isn’t difficult once the voice is trained. Where Diana’s voice is exceptionally good is in the fact she has a very broad range, from very deep bass to soprano.

Thanks for checking out our Queen of Goosebumps, Diana Ankudinova. Yes her "layered" voice is purely natural, especially in the low to mid range. It's funny you say "Holy Moly" because they were the exact final words of the host at the end of the video. :)

She is polyphonic. But, layers HAVE been added at one particular moment in the song. There is NO doubt. They are stereo split left and right. This does not diminish her unreal gift of polyphony, which can also be heard.

But if you listening well, you can hear the 2 notes, when she sings the "But I cant help falling in love with you" at the first time. Just before Julia Parsuta turn her head. You can hear her low and high nore in the same time, just concentrate! The second time, she have a softer, high backing track.

The "higher part" you refer to is the overtones others (like Kwstas Vagias) reference. The lower tones you hear are simply the background music. Her voice is so dominant as a dramatic contralto that often the instrumental backing sounds like words being formed. Leonard Bernstein was well known for making his lower clef/lower case strings talk to us. Thanks for a fine reaction. 👍

Diana is firmly in the top ranks of the world's vocal arts ..... with her style. And I would call it "Harpoon Ankudinova"... With this "harpoon" Diana impresses almost everyone from the first seconds ... and attracts the listener, up to the last second of the performance ... And the spectator has only to "helplessly" allow her to pull herself out of the zone of the already familiar world vocal - into the zone of her element ... into the zone of Diana's musical tornado ...! And this "harpoon" is able to carry not only a man, but also a whale into Diana's element ...!!

  • @osowallman5743

So much to discover. I suspect that her childhood collarbone/neck injury remodeling affected growth and development in her larynx, a typical tissue response to contusions. This created the space/shape for her very unique polyphonic capacities.

  • @wheelermaximus6736
    @wheelermaximus6736 6 місяців тому +1

And to think she was only about 14 or 15 years old at this time. As a psychotherapist, you would truly appreciate her back story ... from the time she was left, abandoned, on the street at the age of 2 or 3 with a broken collar bone by her mother. Diana (Dee=AAna) was mute at the time and music was used by her adopted mother as a vehicle to get he to speak. The rest is history.
Now to really knock your socks off, listen to Diana sing 'Rechenka'. Then go back to her at age 12/13 singing Edith Piaf's WWII hit 'Non Je Ne Regrette Rein', followed by 'Yodel'. The one you want to watch is of her dressed in a red jacket, in Moscow. What a talent.

Here are three reasons why Diana (the Queen of Goosebumps) doesn't sound human. First, she is a contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Second, she has a spectacular larynx. She's been called the vocal Eighth Wonder of the World. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. (more below) When you add all that up you basically get a person who creates her own auto-tune. She doesn't need electronic auto-tune. She IS her own auto-tune. And the effect when you hear her is totally mind-blowing. It's like she's singing right through you, like a sword straight into your soul. Literally NOBODY else on the planet has a voice like hers. She's not one in a million, she's one in eight billion. Having watched well over 100 initial reactions to her, only one did NOT say she was "unique".

  • @ytcag2007
    @ytcag2007 7 місяців тому +20

    Greetings.
Diana Ankudinova is "polyphonic" which means she's able to sing normally, and she can sing with what's called an "overtone".
The background notes you hear are the overtones as they are lower in sound but she can bring the volume of both to an equal level.
After they show the blonde lady, you can hear Diana sing with an overtone but then she brings the microphone closer to her mouth to intensify the higher overtone.
For a cool reaction, watch her cover of "California Dreamin'" in the Russian The Masked Singer.
Please choose the video of her singing without the mask as that puts things in perspective when it comes to her polyphonic singing.
She sings almost the entire song like that and it's awesome!!
    She's is absolutely amazing AND.....
Officially the president of her foundation for orphaned children.

In this performance there are backing tracks, voice processing etc. but these are standard in nearly all TV music shows nowadays (unfortunately imho), even in the Voice shows around the world. But, what those shows don't have is: Diana Ankudinova. Her timbre, tone quality is so unique and rich and powerful, there is no match to her in this area.

There are various styles of "overtone singing" in which you generate an overtone-rich sound and then use their mouths and throats as high-Q filters to emphasize different harmonics. If you listen to Mongolian or Tuvan throat singing it's very clear, but whatever she's doing is very subtle.
