      Sir H, You might want to check out Floor Jansen sometime. Solo or as leadsinger of 'Nightwish'. But mind you, Nightwish is an 'orchestral heavy metal' band, so I don't know if you're into that. They're really good though and it's not a heap of screaming and guitar solo's like some HM. It's very melodic. Floor studied at the Rock Academy and conservatory (musical theatre and belcanto) and has worked as a vocal coach beside her singing career for a few years.
      Floor solo - Shallow (LG cover): ua-cam.com/video/M68pe4a_9zk/v-deo.html&pp=ygUWZmxvb3IgamFuc2VuIC0gc2hhbGxvdw%3D%3D
      Same but in duet with Tim Akkerman: ua-cam.com/video/3Pf7Xd3IVtU/v-deo.html&pp=ygU5dGltIGFra2VybWFuICYgZmxvb3IgamFuc2VuIC0gc2hhbGxvdyBiZXN0ZSB6YW5nZXJzIDIwMTkg
      Nightwish - Ghost Love Score: ua-cam.com/video/JYjIlHWBAVo/v-deo.html&pp=ygUabmlnaHR3aXNoIGdob3N0IGxvdmUgc2NvcmU%3D
      If you watch anything of Nightwish that they've also done at 'Wacken Open Air' in 2013, watch that version, because it was one of those concerts where everything checks out.

    It is her voice. She's polyphonic. It's not a backing voice and it's not edited. That is her. I've been following her for years and she is beyond incredible

    • @SirHairless
      @SirHairless  10 місяців тому +12

      I agree! There are also moments where an additional, separate, voice is used as part of the backing track (such as at 10:18) 🎶I think it's important to remain rational when considering performances such as these, and it's not a bad thing at all to use another voice in the backing track! It can only serve to exaggerate her own polyphonic voice
      (Some other commenters confirmed this btw, supposedly through a discussion in an interview)

Singing for families and friends without proper instruction and keep pushing my vocal caused my to lose my voice at 16 years old for a whole month !! Well guess what I didn’t care to check it back .. after that my vocal become so sisntive which cause me pain singing couple of lines so I sopped singing .. as a teenager I acted indifferent!! Even at 6:52 to 7:10 ? I hear different timings, if this is really unedited, holy sh.... I didn't know that was even humanly possible lol And from 7:10 beyond, the "ah" choir short notes, it's pre-recorded right? lol I can't believe I'm even asking that... but please don't tell me she's also singing the choir, I will rethink my whole existence lol!!!!

    It is hilarious to watch this. It is typically recognized by musicians, vocalists or those with just naturally good ears. The harmonics/polyphony in her vocals leaves first listeners baffled. I don’t know if you’ve reacted to her performance of Rechenka yet (God! Can a 14 year old really be that amazing!), but there are some points that just roil with these tones. Also, your’s are definitely NOT the first tears I’ve seen during reactions to this performance.

    First, her control over her straight tones is incredible. Second, in the remarks portion, multiple members of the jury remarked on the unbelievable amount of energy they felt moving through them during this performance-they said they'd never experienced anything like it. The gentleman who stood up in the jury, is the husband of Russian uber-soprano Anna Netrebko, so he knows powerful voices (he's an opera singer himself, Yusif Eyvasov)! He was just stunned by her. All these pros gobsmacked by a 18 year old's voice. Amazing! It’s worth learning about her early life. She’s overcome a lot to get to where she is ❤ p.s. #QueenOfGoosebumps is one of her nicknames, so she got you too :)

      I agree with your comment but let's also accept that there are backing tracks and some processing on this. So some straight tones might have been pitch corrected. These are generally a common thing in music industry nowadays. Diana sings this live as well, without autotune or processing.

      @@danelazar5171 And the most important thing is, there is no one like her. She is her own league. Some people may not like her unique voice (I respect that if that person has a different but quality musical taste) but if you like her, you are hooked, because there is no one out there like her style, unique voice/timbre... If you search about her past and learn about her personality, you are hooked even more! Take likes of Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears etc. Would you take them to your family dinner table? But now imagine Diana, and even her mother/sister... I am a muslim and I appreciate Diana and her family's humbleness. Diana doesn't half-dress, doesn't try to get promoted by her looks... And she has a gourgeous, exotic, natural beauty right? Only invokes beautiful feelings as you would get from a fairy tale princess.

    Diana is a Polyphonic Dramatic Contralto, the deepest darkest type... with overtones. It's natural ability. I've seen the spectral analysis of her voice done by another reactor, and she fills in more frequencies than "normal" singers. But she has other gifts. I'm pretty sure she had perfect pitch hearing, she sounds exactly like her studio recordings live. Plus she is intelligent, and emotive. She had a rough start in life so she is courageous enough to actually feel a song fully, where her emotiveness comes from. And her voice seems to be tuned into the central nervous system of her listeners. HER listeners, she puts us in a trance like a Siren would. All this to say, she is unique, peerless, a voice for the ages. Some, few, people may not appreciate her, it is a lot, but nobody will say she is mundane.
    Welcome to the wonderful world of Diana Ankudinova, enjoy the ride.

    There are many who compare Dimash and Diana some prefere one over the other.
    For me undoubtedly Dimash is one of the best singers in the world, maybe the best even but his voice has nothing special other than his huge range.
    Now Diana's voice is not only something special but it comes straight out of fairytales, myths and legends. Even if we exclude her huge range and technical skills her voice it self has a life of its own and it messes with everyones brains.
    No her voice is not edited, everyone who has heard more than one songs from her knows, she has sang with music, acapella with or without microphone, in huge arenas, out in the streets, in humble venues it doesn't matter where and how you hear her, her voice will penetrate you and will leave you speachless.

    Diana is the most extraordinary singer in the world. You need to listen to a lot of her stuff - as she has been singing on stage since she was 8 years old and she is now 20. Listen to everything and you will be shocked and fascinated. She's not exactly a singer - she's a mythical Siren and you can hear it. And you will follow her voice - obeying your soul, as millions of people followed. Now she has the title of Queen of chills (goosebumps).

      A reincarnated Siren. I would like to posit this theory. She was a Siren. Mermaids Seafarers could not resist them and dived overboard. Well documented. Some men got tied to the boats as the rest of the crew had their ears plugged. The hearers went almost mad, pleading to be cut loose. But love flowed both ways and hence the song, cant help falling in love with you. This drew her to be born as a human. Not many nations retain the mystique of life in their culture like Russia. Maybe only Russia. A deeply siritual nation. So she came down there. The Drama she become is evidence of her powerful past.

    Diana’s voice is truly fascinating and- to some - is an acquired taste. She is a stunning young woman with a polyphonic technique and is able to throat sing similarly to many aboriginal North American singers. I discovered Diana through my affinity for Dimash’s music and the common thread of Igor Krutoy. Fun fact about polyphonic singers is their ability to tap into the harmonics of any note and produce multiple tones for each note (string players often play with harmonics on our instruments). Although this dark interpretation of Fools Rush in seems very discordant at times, it is darkly satisfying. However, I am more entranced by Diana’s performance of Rechenka. Incredible! Enjoyed this… cheers from Canada!

    When she sings in a low voice, it's like a hurricane that blows you off your feet. At the very beginning, the hurricane begins and wakes up, and in the last verse it is already roaring in your ears and spinning you in the air as it wants. Sometimes love can be such a hurricane, comforting with the tenderest quiet hugs and kisses, but.. It's like a hurricane inside that will turn your guts over. This is the version of Elvis, just like in real life. Thank you so much for your reaction ❤

She performs a lot on Russian TV channel that is known for blocking. I will say that the production crew on the Russian channel is very good. Diana’s performance of “Rechenka” if one of my favs. It was done on a Russian singing competition called “You are Super “. Thank you for your genuine heartfelt reaction. Diana's voice evokes the same visceral reaction in me every time I hear her perform. I only started listening to her about a week ago, after ignoring suggestions for the past couple of years. As others have pointed out, Diana is a contralto and she is also polyphonic. Hence, in addition to a backing track, she also produces two tones simultaneously with her voice at times; a high and a low tone.
    Looking forward to more reactions to her.

      @@graveseeker In a Q&A video after this competition, Diana mentioned 2 team members by name- a man (Vlad) and a woman (Katya)- involved in doing backing vocals for her performances and specifically pointed out “Crow” and “Personal Jesus” as examples. I don’t remember her saying much about this specific song but it was clear that the producers allowed the use of backing vocalists to enhance the experience, not just for Diana but for others on the show

    • @graveseeker
      @graveseeker Рік тому +3

      @@hearingninja Oh, yes, Diana clearly has backing vocals in her produced videos and Dimash had backing vocals, live singers, for his The Singer performances. If there are backing voices in this performance, they enhanced her voice (maybe her own?) rather than supported it. I can't hear them but my ears aren't what they used to be and my headset is cheap. No big deal, it's really a throw-away question but I would think that it would make it hard to evaluate her performance during a competition.
      Anyway, she did an amazing job and deserved her win with or without backing.

    • @hearingninja
      @hearingninja Рік тому +3

      @@graveseeker In her original music Diana does all of her backing vocals and harmonies herself, she has said that explicitly in interviews.
      On this show, that was not the case due to time constraints. That is why there was a whole team involved in doing backing vocals. Sometimes they are very subtle, as you said, and sometimes it’s very clear that other voices are singing with her. Regardless, all of the artists were using the same tools and assessed each other fairly and frankly on the basis of vocal skills

    • @dvaparovoza5706
      @dvaparovoza5706 11 місяців тому +5

      @@graveseeker Backing vocals are allowed at competitions if the original song contains backing vocals, as well as if the backing vocals are present in the cover version submitted for consideration by the commission before its performance. But this only applies to backing vocals. Any other interference in any form (software, electronic, mechanical) affecting the voice is prohibited. And a little general information that gives some answers: basically all these contests are TV projects, and the sound changes a lot along the way from a concert hall or another venue to viewers' televisions, unlike a recording studio. This is a big headache for sound engineers of TV projects. Therefore, the products of various TV shows are subjected to automatic software correction in order to convey the sound to the end consumer, as much as possible similar to the original sounding from the concert venue.

Then when she did, it was with a very different voice than you'd expect. A gift to us! What she did with this Elvis song is amazing and so suited to her voice. She took a light happy song and made it dark and a bit scary. The 1st time that I heard her was when she sang 'Renchenka': ua-cam.com/video/fEcvVINA304/v-deo.html which is so ancient and haunting sounding. Well worth a listen! Beautiful reaction! I can say that I'm facinated by her as well. I don't come at these reactions from a musical background but with interests in both behavior and spirituality. Pretty strange statement but let me say about Diana I am completely in awe of her journey as a person. Unlike my other favorites Dimash, Aurora and Angelina (Jordan) who all had loving and supportive families, Diana was born to a single alcholic mother who greatly abused her from the very beginning. When she was about 4 yo she was abandoned by her birth mother at a bus stop in winter with a broken collarbone. Her mother's relatives in the area took her in briefly and then took her to an orphanage. A woman who worked with children at the orphanage adopted her that next year I believe, and because she was mute from the abuse she had always received, her adoptive mother took her for voice lessons just in hopes of getting her speaking again. This is what Diana found within herself. I was chatting with a Russian person in the comments section of another reaction video of her work and they told me that in Russia, they call her 'the Shamanese'. Many who study voice say she is polyphonic and it sounds as if she is. I would recommend you go back and watch her performance of Rechenka next. I think she was 14 yo at the time and it was perhaps her true breakout moment in Russia (not sure that's correct) similar to Dimash's SOS from The Singer where he jumped to overnight fame in China. Also in this competetion show her performances of Wicked Game and Human are not to be missed. She's a delight and power uncommonly seen. I personally feel music has the power to shift the heart and soul and that is why I'm watching these musical light workers do their magic in world that so needs the love they are calling in.
    Back to this performance- the judges are all the other artists that are in this competition except for the man who stood up during the performance- he's a guest judge, a musician himself and married to a famous opera singer. They were all pretty moved by the looks of it. See you soon! Thank you for your sharing with us, your talents and heart!

    Hello!

    Hi Sir Hairless :-) If you would like to hear her pure voice, I would suggest the "Ornery horses". She is singing in a small bar, bare mic. You can see how she goes into the character, how she is before and after the song (humble, kind simple young lady). I am not sure, if that song is good to make a reaction video or not, just I find it an important part of her art (you will find it on her channel with this title: Кони привередливые - Диана Анкудинова ) Her teachers tried to talk out her to interpret this song, fortunately she was her own idea about it. :-) I also like her interpretaion of What a Wonderful World - Diana Ankudinova and Brandon Stone wish you a Happy New Year! Ornery Horses: Good song with amazing emotional impact. Yet more raw, less vocal agility in my opinion in that song (compared to her, not to the avarage singers) so personally i would recommend it later. Again emotionally it's next level, it's like her Dune performance everyone should experience it despite way less techniques used then in some other songs.
      So to experience her magic good choice, to learn more about her voice less optimal. (in my opinion).

    Your reaction reminded me of my own over 2 years ago. All I understood during this time was that Diana is somehow able to create a resonance at the main frequency at which she sings, and adopts her vocal tract very quickly. Because of this, the main note may be accompanied by several harmonics: one below the fundamental note and two or three above. Moreover, the amplitudes of the harmonics are comparable to the amplitude of the main note. This technique is the major difference from Dimash style: Diana’s range is 3-4 octaves (while Dimash’s is 6-8 ?), but she can produce them simultaneously. Sounds fantastic.

    As many other fans if Diana will share with you, she has the ability to sing polyphonic, as well as mastery of yodel technique, and her brilliant and uniques dark timbre.

    Such a great reaction, Sir! Diana's singing is otherworldly and your emotion was so genuine - I felt it too!! Your amazing analysis threw more light on the piece and the whole experience. Thank you 😊

    Diana's resonance is unlike anything I have heard before. Beautiful and thrilling! I never tire of her voice.
    She has a connection to Igor Krutoy, who seems to be everywhere in Russian contemporary music.

    My first time at your channel -- Thank you for this excellent reaction. Apparently Diana is polyphonic, is a Dramatic Contralto and can yodel. Diana ( Dee-anna ) is Russian has sung in English, French, Spanish and i think Arabic. This performance from Diana's youtube channel has judges comments with English subtitles. Quite insightful. Also by Diana --- 'Rechenka', 'Wicked Game', 'Human', Dernier Danse'. Thank you again, wonderful.

      You can add German, Ukrainian, and even Tatar now to that list of languages, though she has only sung one or two songs of each of those. She mainly sings in Russian (of course) and English plus a handful of French songs

    The Queen of goosebumps have stroke again! :)
    Her voice is such unique and amazing. She can utilise amazing harmonics, her voice can resonate so much it's amazing. And sometimes she creates more than one sound, which is poliphonic.
    BUT in this performance there is her own backup vocal is small parts, despite some denying this. This doesn't take anything away.
    Also the last section sounds amazing and it's all HER voice. But usually due to harmonics we can't hear these details, like taking a photo on the beach and hard to see all the colors on the image due to white balance, too much light. So my opinion is they cleverly filtered a tiny bit from her wide harmonics/overtones, voice so we can hear them separately better, every single detail.
    For example when she sang this live for an ice skate performance, while the audio isn't this clear you can still hear her natural (little cloudy, hard to describe) wide huge sound in the last amazing part, can't make out every detail of her beautiful voice this well as here.
    My recommendation is Rechenka, age of 14!
    ua-cam.com/video/fEcvVINA304/v-deo.htmlsi=Y0gMgjV8-RwHX8rG
    Later check out Her performance age 14 Derniere Danse (look for the LONGER 5 minute version not the shortened TV show!) and 15 Wicked Game and Human are loved by all, but also from music shows.
    You can find both Derniere Danse and Rechenka more recent version where she is adult, age 18-20, but believe me she has things to show even at young age.
    Or you can even compare her voice singing Rechenka or Derniere Danse as a child and now in one video, never saw anyone doing that.
    (Rechenka age 20 ua-cam.com/video/6PqYyFltVAk/v-deo.htmlsi=Y0CKVS2OxPPG2Se0)
    If intrested in a song where she is softer, more delicate recommend her most recent video from her official channel, duet with Brandon Stone:
    ua-cam.com/video/u9rBsvNRY3I/v-deo.htmlsi=rZAuiSP1qZxU-0en
    Many will recommend her Art of Hans Zimmer - DUNE performance, it is an amazing experience, but very short locals due how the score written as.

    Thanks for your reaction, SH. Diana's voice is rich with certain loud harmonics that most voices don't have. In particular, prominent 1st harmonic frequencies give a doubling effect an octave above the fundamental; hence the notion that a second voice is involved.

    • @SirHairless
      @SirHairless  Рік тому +1

      Thanks! Completely agree on the harmonics side - they're a different type of sound to a full voice. I do think there was another voice added into the backing track at a couple of parts later on too (which I point out in the video); completely different sound to that produced by harmonic frequencies

      @@SirHairless Yes it did! And thanks for the Rechenka one!
      I just discovered a video of her singing "Oh, darling" from the Beatles, when she was only 10 years old. She was already something special back then. And also "Jodel Time" for her awesome yodelling at age 13. I think you'll like to see those video's from a developmental point of view.
