I like your style with this video. 🙂 As you know there are many videos by more experienced Aquarists on this tank. But your honest and open discussion is in many ways more valuable to someone starting out.
This is a great tank for yumas like yours. they dont like a lot of light. I used to like the waving hand anthelia. It drops pieces off that grow extremely fast all over which is annoying though. I have to tear off pieces every couple months to donate to petco. It just shades all the other corals. I started with a frag of 5 polyps and now it's taking over areas all over my 150
He wasn't talking about quarantine tanks though? And I wouldn't recommend anything smaller then a 20 gallon tank for quarantine , I don't quarantine fish though if they look healthy at the fish store with no signs of stress or ick then I take the gamble of putting the fish I like in my tank
Lovely setup! I have the same one and I'm growing some mushrooms and will try to cover a wall with gsp, may ask what's your light routine and how much livestock you got in there besides the corals? Thanks!
Thinking of getting this tank today and was put off by all the bad reviews regarding the light… This is the exact video I needed, thanks a lot for making it dude, I’m off to buy me that tank now… Also, your tank looks so nice. Exactly why I want one..
@@kabirthepunjabi ive been keeping freshwater fish for 20 years, but a beginner for marine yes! my evo is now 4 weeks old and doing very well! i got 2 clowns, coral soon
Do you feed your corals special food? Also where do you get your corals and do you dip them? I'm wanting to get corals but heard pests like aptasia can hitch hike on them.
I don’t feed my coral anything, I don’t have any that require more than routine water changes. I get my coral from different places friend, online, LFS. If you can see them first in person that is probably the most ideal way. I dip with coral RX and have still got a couple pests but nothing to bad. I’m not sure aptasia can be removed with coral dipping. Best thing would be to keep your coral in the sand or a frag rack for a while to let them get comfortable with your tank. During that time keep an eye out for aptasia and either get rid of what it’s on or kill it before it goes on the rocks 👍
I want to get coral but i have the 67 watt hyger. I havent been able to keep anemones more than a month. Im not sure if the lights are too weak or what
Hi, very nice aquarium. I have a question. how difficult is to keep an aquarium stable with so few liters? I know bigger is better, but also bigger is expensive. I see you are aquarium when it’s so beautiful but also small
Thanks 🙏 I have never kept a bigger aquarium so personally I can’t compare it. I will say my tank has had some challenges with keeping the parameters stable. Not sure if it’s me or the tank. So far as long as I do my tests and maintenance it stays pretty stable. I got a smaller tank because of costs also 👍
I attach my coral with gel super glue. Just put a good amount on the plug and hold it on the rock for 30 seconds or so until it sets. You can glue it to the rock even if it’s still in the water. Eventually the coral will cover your plug.
In my stock light schedule plus $13 led upgrade video I show the timer I use. You can use any timer and it should turn your lights on with the white lights. With the timer I can only control the white lights, I have a cheap LED so I can have blue lights on in the morning and at night. Hopefully this answers your question. Watch that other video and let me know if you have any other questions. 👍
Hi I am just shutting down a 300ltr tank due to age and ill health, I have bought a Fluval Sea Evo, will set it up once my existing tank is sold, so I am getting as much info as I can on the Evo, do you ever put the blue lights on? and how long do you have your lights on each day ?
I run my lights 4 hours a day and have a cheap LED light for the blue lights. Both are on timers. I put the link below to my video on my lighting. Good luck with your tank! ua-cam.com/video/5wHUaDSYfqE/v-deo.html
I get my coral from either my local fish store, from a friend or online. If you have a good fish store close to you I’d recommend going there. Just make sure the tanks are clean and coral look healthy. There are also a lot of online options like worldwide coral or Austin aqua farms. They are pricey but are reputable dealers. Hopefully this helps! Good luck 👍
Are u using the same return pump that came with the tank? I just started cycling this tank 4 days ago and I don't know if the pump is gonna be strong enough
I used the stock return pump for over a year and just recently started using a stronger pump. You can use the stock pump for now and upgrade later or go ahead and get another one totally up to you. Good luck with your tank
I set it up just like it came and started to cycle it. After that I made adjustments as necessary. Eventually I got a little power head, uv sterilizer and upgraded my return pump. You can get it started just like it is. I would suggest getting rid of the sponge and use some sort of polyfiber in the first chamber to catch anything floating in the water.
I use the Fluval stock light that came with the tank. The light is just plug and play, so whatever the specs are on that light. The other LED is pretty much the same plug and play at max brightness. I don’t think it puts out much additional par or anything like that. Hopefully this answers your question.

Like you, I love the look of the stock setup. I want to keep it simple! This is great to see what you have had success with. Thanks.
Thanks for the information.
I have the same tank and it helps me understand what easy corals I can put in my tank.
Hi Cooley! I really enjoyed your video! I think your tank looks really good with all the colours of the fish & corals! 😀👍

Did you ever figure out a light schedule I am picking one of these up and wondering how to do the lighrs
You will end up moving all the LPs coral from the zoa's. And the big zoa's and less colorful ones usually take over the small color ones.
I’ll be ok with that! Thanks 👍

Corals that are too fancy for this tank are probably not for beginners anyways
