Thanks for the advice. I'm a maintenance man by trade I did what you said but eventually had to pull the dishwasher out and pull the drain lines in the back attached to impeller housing. BINGO!!! I'm going to add something to your troubleshooting process. My Frigidare was sporadic on draining. Sometimes it would drain it all, sometimes the whole bottom would have an inch, sometimes, just the center would have water. Sometimes the water was clean, sometimes still cloudy. So, I figured the drain pump was going bad. Ordered one from Amazon at 1/3 cost of OEM and replaced it. Worked great right out of the box. Next day, once again, water standing in the bottom. Kept researching and found someone suggesting to make sure the hose was clear where it entered the P-Trap. Took that hose loose, poked around with a screw driver, nothing there. Put it back together, sometimes worked, sometimes didn't. Today, took off P-trap and found debris in here. In fact, found a metal elbow fitting, like would be on the input side of the dishwasher. This had to have been there for 30 years! Removed it but wasn't satisfied that that was the issue. I am sure this was causing some issues with slow draining but couldn't be the whole problem. My dishwasher draining issue had really become a problem in the past 2 weeks. Went back to the drain connection at the dishwasher, removed the hose and this little black rubber piece fell out, all deformed. Started looking into this and discovered it is a back flow prevention flapper. Cost about $10 on Amazon. It's purpose is to what? Block water that is in the discharge hose from entering back into the dishwasher! I've got one on order, should be here in a couple of days, but I'm betting this makes my problem totally go away.
I watched your video, and the minute you pulled out glass, I knew that was probably what was wrong with mine, too. I took it apart just like you taught, and sure enough, glass!! Thank you for the easy to follow "do-it-yourself" tutorial. I feel so proud that I didn't need to call for reinforcements. lol :)

Great Tutorial Scott! Unfortunately, this didn't solve my problem. I installed my dishwasher about a year ago and it stopped draining last week. I pulled the entire unit out of the cabinet and took the drain hose off to see if there were any obstructions, but I couldn't find any. Do you have any suggestions? Hey Scott, we have almost the same model dishwasher in this rental house. We hardly use the dishwasher, maybe twice a year for holidays. We're getting ready to move so I was going to run a few loads before packing stuff up. I opened it and found it hadn't drained all the way since Christmas dinner. It was pretty foul. Bailed it out like you showed and disassembled it and was surprised by how much water (and scum) was still down under the filters. Gave it a bleach bath and pressed on. Didn't find any obstructions other than build up. Bleached and washed with hot water all the parts in the sink, reassembling as I finished each part. The first filter piece you take off was the last to put on. I thought it was 1 piece. The hot water dissolved the crud and it came apart. And out popped a damn shard of glass. Slapped it back together and it works fine now (and doesn't stink). Thank you so much for such a well detailed, concise video!
Thank you so very much for this! My problem was in fact some plastic shards in the air gap, soon as I cleared that turned it on and off again water started shooting out the air gap! Lol my bad for not putting the top back on but I was super happy. Put the air gap top back on tried again and boom! Water draining as it’s supposed to where it’s supposed to!

@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel thanks Scott for the reply. I figured it out. It wasn't the dishwasher at all. I have hard water. The small elbow joint under the sink was completely cruddy with Calcium and likely other junk. Took the hose off and cleaned with a wire brush stick. I could barely get the stick in. Cleaned it up with some vinegar and worked like a charm. Thanks for the video. Now I know how that damn dishwasher works.
My Frigidaire is a simpler model with the air gap on the inside of the dishwasher. I never heard of a "torques 15 screw". I'm stuck at not being able to remove the screws above the impeller. I think there are only two on my model. I can barely make out the middle of the screws with a bright light.
I took everything apart, but I found two pieces of glass in the filter that you remove right before you get to the part with the t-15 screws. I removed the cover and sucked out the water with the shop vac, so unless the shop back sucked up the glass piece, I didn't find any additional pieces of glass down near the impeller. It spins freely too. So I reassembled everything and it's running on a short wash and I am crossing my fingers it's fixed, but I didn't find anything around the impeller. I'm hoping it's not a bad impeller motor or something... Although that would be just my luck.
I got a question I think my circulation pump failed because it was draining but not circulating and now it doesn't drain. Do you think both are blocked now
Thank you for creating this video. It was just what we needed to repair our dishwasher today. Thankful we didn’t have to call service!

Super helpful video! Thank you!
Thanks for the video. I found a screw inside my drain pump. One that secured the front of the dishwasher to the underside of the counter top had fallen inside and made its way inside the pump and was stopping the motor from turning the impeller

I did all this and its not working. Looking at the connection, i suspect the hose is too long. Could this be a possibility?
Can you try the cleaning of the air/gap shown in this video? dishwasher won't drain: ua-cam.com/video/-5SuYUnX0ZY/v-deo.html
The empeller on my model is so small. Can't get to it with pliers or fingers. Any thoughts
Can you try to get the water out of there with a sponge and then use a strong flashlight and some tweezers to get the piece out?
Can you send a picture of those 2 screws to my email at: scottthefixitguy@yahoo.com
Did you use a star bit on your drill. I thought it was phillips but now i got to get star screwdrivers. Always something.
Hey Brian,
I think it was a Torx 15 bit.
Very helpful! Thanks!!
Thanks Todd😊
no other repair videos mentioned the airgap - that was the problem - thanks!
Works for me.
only had to get part way thru to find the issue. Plastic UPC tag blocking the drain. Thanks for the info.
Thanks for the video!
Had to go a few steps further to fix it, ie unclogging the pipe to the sink drainage.
Thanks Terry
I got a question I think my circulation pump failed because it was draining but not circulating and now it doesn't drain. Do you think both are blocked now
So it’s able to drain the water out but it does not circulate the water around.
Does it seem like it’s filling with water OK?
@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel yea
@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel I unblocked my drain pump impeller but it still doesnt circulate and the circulation pump makes noise
Can you send me a video of that to:
Scottthefixitguy@yahoo.com
Should the impeller spin freely if it's cleared of debris? Or is it supposed to resist?
It will move freely for 1/4 turn and then resistance and then freely.
@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel very helpful thank you tons for responding!
Can you disconnect the drain line from the disposal and put it in a bucket to see if it will drain? Has it ever drained since installing?
