Thank you skats for your advice, i will be in Tenerife next month and i will do as you say , whent with your advice with the money exchanging and opened a account with S smart ce, so sending cash to Spain with their fixed rate account (1.18) not bad at all, and will be setting up our pensions with them as well. Thank you so much for all your help, from you to Spain etc, more than appreciated best info on line. Kind regards joe.
This is really informative! It would be very useful to have separate videos about the process of buying and insuring a car depending on your residency status. I am trying to piece together how to do it as a non-resident, but I am still unclear on a number of things. Who do I pay my IVTM to (and how do I find out?!), do I need a gestor to handle paperwork/tax if I am buying a car from a dealer? Do I need to pay any tax on my Modelo 210 form each year? This kind of thing. A real "idiots guide" would be very helpful :)
Hi Edward, that’s a good idea, I’ll put it on my list. In the meantime I’ll answer as well as I can. A gestor would certainly be handy to answer and sort out your tax questions. You don’t necessarily need one but a good one will avoid the pitfalls. Some dealers will sort out all of the paperwork for you so you won’t need a gestor to deal with them, though I’d still be tempted to use one in case there’s a question you don’t know to ask. My gestor is on holiday at the moment so I can’t ask him your questions, but I’ll see if I can find out. Do you own a property in Spain?
I am trying to import a British motorhome to Spain -has physically been located here in Spain since 2019, (is a long story). I am being advised that I would need to pay in almost 50%!!!! of the value in taxes that the authorities here tell me it’s worth,, based on todays market value. It seems ridiculous to do this now I think it’s not worth it, so now I’m looking at sending the vehicle back to Uk and sell it there. Importing is way too expensive now since Brexit.
Yes, it depends very much on the car’s individual specifications like Chris says on the video. Best thing to do it contact him through his website for a quote.
I am a Brit who has been working in Scandinavia. I am approaching retirement and I have purchased a place in Spain. I am thinking of buying a used Tesla in Norway and driving it to Spain. I will use it as my local car with occasional forays to the UK. I will keep my British passport. What do I need to do to export and register my second-hand Norwegian-registered Tesla in Spain?
Hello I watched the first half of this video and found it very interesting but an hour and a half is way too long I think you should do a summary video from the information lasting 15 minutes and that would be an excellent video.
It’s a good point but these live Q&As are packed with answers for a live audience and it would be impossible to get the same amount of detail that people need when circumstances vary so much. I do, however, spend an hour creating the timecodes every week so that you can skip to the answers you need, and I do much shorter midweek videos on lots of topics. And there are articles on the website that are more summarised too.
Hi skats moving to Spain, to Tenerife, could you recommend a bank to use, cant find one that has good revues as yet, what do you use, need to set up account next month, any help with this would be gratefully appreciated. kind regards joe.
Hi Joe, the advice that worked for me wasn’t about a particular bank but finding a good bank manager because all of the banks can be a problem if you don’t establish a relationship with the manager. Can you wait until you’re there and speak to a few to see who offers you the best deal? Bank charges in particular can be in the manager’s hands. While you’re thinking about money, are you exchanging from £s to €s? If so, don’t do it through the banks.
That’s a difficult question. If you were on the mainland I’d say don’t bother with garages, sell it privately on Marketplace, there are loads of people looking on there. I sold my Irish car in about 5 minutes and kept on getting offers. Tenerife might be more tricky though. Why do you want to take the car there if you’re going to get rid of it? Better to sell in Scotland where you’ll get more for it v

hi all. I'm interested in bringing my 2002 Subaru from Canada into Spain. Any particular stipulations for importing from Canada versus say UK? I am having trouble finding the information I need. Any help is appreciated.
Hello, as a not spanish resident, after buying a car in spain, I can apply for temporary green plates for export (baja temporal or something like that) without NIE? Or I need a truck to transport the car out of Spain? A gestoria can help me? I would like to avoid the truck solution.. thanks

From what Chris has said, motorhomes are a pain and can be expensive to register here. But by all means send him a message to ask at www.Upsticks.es
Thank you I’ll do that :)
Does your Spanish driving licence need to have the same address as the padron when you buy a car in Spain?
Your official proof of address is the up to date Padron certificate so as long as that is your correct address that’s fine.
@@youtoospain thanks, you answer my questions faster than my mum.
Can brits register their uk cars in October this year? What modifications are required and how much?
