I punched my monitor now my hand hz
I'm dead 😂😂😂
made my day thanks 😂
@@SometimeYuno happy I made your day bro :D
Underrated 🙌🏻
You forgot that you are also butt Hz
Thanks for explaining things that are so basic that people think it's not worth to talk about. These basic stuffs are important. Would love to see more
100% agreeing
Then why are you here
@@cwunn4726 read my comment few times until you truly understand
I started reading when you posted but I think I get it now
exactly
Quick and easy explanation, well done!
Super simple explanation, straight to the point. Thank you.
Thank you, just you holding the hdmi and explaining the interaction between that and what it’s plugged into made it make complete sense to me. Great explanation
That was to show that he has a cord and knows what he is doing. You can trust him
Changing through frames is just your computer receiving new data and changing the pixels on that screen, so if the pixels will show movement 60 times per second, that would make it so movement seems smooth since there will be less movement for pixels change
Short. To the Point. Informational. Exactly what I was looking for.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
So basically, no matter how high your FPS is, it will be capped by your monitor's refresh rate?.
Like,
250 FPS on a 60 hz monitor will only give you 60 FPS?
250 FPS on a 75 hz monitor will only give you 75 FPS?
250 FPS on a 144 hz monitor will only give you 144 FPS?
True, but the thing is you would still want a high average fps because then in your worst case scenario say while gaming a lot of animations and effects happen at once you wouldnt want to fall below your monitors refresh rate or you may interpret some lag
So if u have a 144 hz monitor and play on 60 fps, you are actually getting 144 fps?
@@joaquinmurgarodriguez2099 No, if you're only getting 60 fps although you're using a 144 hz monitor, you're really only seeing 60 fps.
Fluffy Earl oh thx getting my first monitor in a week and its 144hz but can only play on 60fps thank you
@@joaquinmurgarodriguez2099 if your computer is only capable of reaching 60 fps then it's useless to buy 144 hz monitor except if you wanna buy a brand new better computer.
Thank you for a quick and brief explanation on FPS and Hz 👍🏻 Big help!
So my processor, ram, graphics card, etc are responsible for the FPS
and my refresh rate (Hz) is solely dependent on what my display is capable of
so, no matter if your pc is capable of dishing out thousand fps, if the monitor is only 240hz you only get 240fps. did I get that right?
@@furikusu Yes
@@brock5946 What if my laptop is 4ram Acer i3 1005g1 10gen it will lock on 60fps if I get 60hz
@@OfficialPrettyBoiKxngsley if would only lock if u use something like v-sync,(which limits the frames you can get to the number of frames your monitor can display)thats also if your computer can handle 60 frames. its not like a lock on, it just limits to the display frames. you can get more frames from your computer but if your monitor is only 60 hz, you will only perceive 60 fps even if your computer is pushing out more than 100
@Hyperprivt Hi, i now im late asf but look what if play my xbox one and i use a hdmi to vga cabel with full hd 30 hz so the adapter is 30 hz but my monitor is 60hz and my xbox one also. Is my monitor gonna change to 30 hz or is it staying on 60hz and im still gonna be able to play 60hz???
Computer: generates 60 fps.
Monitor: refreshes 144 times per second(144Hz)
You only see 60 fps.
Computer: generates 150 FPS
Monitor: refreshes 60 times per second (60Hz)
You only see 60 FPS because the monitor is refreshing 60 times.
simple
Not gonna lie I’ve been looking for this type of answer for a long time in this video definitely simplifies it. Thank you for this.
Short and sweet! Easy to understand with no extra BS! why can't all videos be like this
I like how he says “redraws the screen this many times a second” I saw another video and it was more like explained but like harder to understand so this is better than that
Thank you, I'm new to the pc gaming world and I truly appreciate these videos with simplified explanations
its funny back in the mid 2000 HZ was really never talked about cause high refresh rate monitors were really not a thing but FPS was, there was a huge difference between 30 fps and 60 fps and even 100 fps. But other than V-sync there was no software the monitor Hz Vs FPS from gpu plus we have cables now to worry about. Makes me think we were lied to about the chase for higher fps when weren't even talking about refresh rate on monitors.
yeah in fn i get around three hundred and sixty fps but my moniter gets sixty hz
Thank you for the simple explanation. Other videos were still leaving me confused for some reason.
Easy to understand. Thanks Max. Subscribed 👍
so should i match my fps with my hz?
The pc I’m getting can output about 180-220 FPS. Does this mean I need a 240hz monitor to see all the benefits? I was going to get a 144hz monitor for budgeting reasons but I want to be able to enjoy my PC for as much as it’s worth
Yes if you get a 144 hz monitor and your computer push's out more than 144 fps your monitor will bottleneck at 144 unless you geta 240hz then asking as you don't go over 240 fps you will never be frame capped if that makes sense if you have anymore q's I can answer
Jace Keller yup. That’s about as accurate as it gets👍🏾
Jace Keller OHHHHH Oh Kay. So if I buy a 240hz monitor and my pc will pushes out about 90-120 fps, will it run the 90-120 fps fine?
@@deletedchannel4780 yes it will run fine
Red yup
so, for example, lets say I have a 144hz monitor. would my experience be the same if my fps was 144, 160, 200, 300, or 400? meaning, is the hz the bottleneck in that situation, and there is no benefit to having an fps number greater than 144?
Simple and straight to the point. Thank you.
So if my GPU can output 120 but my monitor is 60hz , even if my FPS counter is showing 120+, I’m actually not getting 120? So pretty much FPS = MHZ both are cap?
So hertz is monitor fps, and fps is gpu hertz
Lol
watched this because i have 144fps but 60hz, well explained, would love to see more explained videos
You think it's worth it buying a monitor with more hz when your fps rate is in the 100's?
@@brock5946 yes, for future too
Ok so i play codm. And in that game you cant go over 60fps because its lock but i got a phone with ajustable hz at max with 120hz. Is it better to play with higher hz than fps? Or i low it down to 60hz and 60fps?
Nothings changed you’re not getting anything out of it. It’s best to have your hz as close to your FPS as possible you could get lag if your hz is a lot higher then your FPS.
thank you so much this was really good and short
Thanks for the video dude!
Had to use this to explain to my dad what hz is. 😆
simple but explain it so well
When I bought a 144 hz monitor I changed my to fps limit to unlimited and noticed a clear difference when I was getting higher fps
thanks
You made that really simple! Thanks man!!
Thank you so much you cleared alot up for me, i had one question,
Does this work the same for your mouse report rate or are they independent?
so for example ill try explain what im trying to say: if a mouse reports at 1000hz it will be refreshing your mouse movements every 1ms but if your computer only refreshs 60 fps is it reporting 60 frames per second to your screen and reporting mouse movements every 1ms right?
So what im trying to say is
If your computer hardware only refreshes 60 frames per second
It only refeshed 60 fps
And if your mouse hz runs at 1000hz the mouse reports everytime you touch it to the your on screen movements every 1ms
Im assuming that hz and fps are indepent
Please correct me if im wrong because i am trying to learn about all this stuff:) thanks again and if you have a answer to this question it would be highly appreciated
OfficialOGJ oh shit thats a long comeby
Old Cuban Map.. that's Cool.
Thank you. This was very well explained‼️
So its ok if i buy a 240hz monitor if i dont get 240fps? It would just display the amount of fps im getting?
thanks i was wondering why i didnt feel any different when i got my pc and hooked it up to my 75hz monitor
love the wallpaper
Thank you very much for this clear explanation!
You are a growing UA-camr so I subbed 2 u I hope I day u hit a mill subs
Ok so I’m here for my quest 2. I’m trying to play no man’s sky on Vr. How do I check my max fps output on my pc? I can up my hz on my quest 2 higher than 60-70hz but I have no idea what it’ll do. You’re talking about monitors. So would the screens in the quest be considered monitors? If so how would I check the max fps for my quest 2. Cuz wouldn’t it be plus more than my pc considering the quest 2 also has hardware on its own that can run games without being connected to anything, or am I thinking wrong. Like is the quest 2 completely working off my PCs hardware or is my quest 2 working with my pc hardware plus it’s own hardware. Ig doesn’t really matter but the real question is that if I do up my HZ on my quest 2 and it’s connected to my pc. What would the draw backs be for my pc. Like rn I’m having issues with my game stuttering and frames dropping before 30 fps. Would putting my hz higher fix the issue or would it make it worse? Would it put too much strain and crash my pc ?
But what if your GPU starts to send frames at (say) 0:01:01 while your monitor starts to refresh image at (say) 0:01:02. Doesn't it mean that the final picture is going to be a black one? Or is it a software level where these two things are synchronised on?
It will just have the previous frame on screen until it’s refreshed, if the frame rate and refresh rate don’t align you can get what’s called tearing on screen where at some point whenever the new frame was rendered your refresh was partly through and all the pixels are like 1 layer off causing jagged edges. There’s a method to sync the refresh rate and frame rate to avoid this called Vsync. You’ll see that as an option in most games.
thx so much this is much easyer than other videos on yt
I spent a few hours trying to understand how many Hz my VGA would support and now I undertood is not how it works, lol, thanks a lot.
Thank you for this information 💙🎱
short and to the point, as it should be
So if my PC can output 144 fps and I have a 60hz monitor will it say that I'm at 144 fps?
TheSonnetPrince so if I get a ps5 i can get a 120 hz monitor and I’ll be fine ?
way better than Linus, great work
Sending this to my friends that cant understand when I explain, 10/10.
I have a question , you saying that if I have a 60Hz screen & lets say I get a 200fps , i am not gonna benefit from the extra 120 ! but when I play with V-Sych (60fps) it feels much slower & lagging than playing with 180 or 200fps although the monitor refresh rate is still the same so why is that ?
Omg this explanation is very good and quick.
Will it matter if my gaming laptop is 120hz and my monitor is 165hz
This is why consoles cap out at 60 fps due t omost 4K TV only does 60 Hz. So should I cap my computer gpu output to 60 fps if my TV is 60 Hz? I assume "YES"???
U explained better than everyone's I've watch ed
I was just wondering this question and it just appeared in front of me lol. Thank you I have now learned the relation between the two 👍
So are functionalities like GSync and FreeSync are responsible for syncing frame output to scree frequency? I can imagine that there may be slight fluctuating delivery delays if the phases do not exactly match.
Vsync does that. Gsync and freesync are different than Vsync. Gsync or freesync make your monitor's frequency imitate the output of your GPS frequency so the images get LESS stuttering. Yes we could say there would be some perceived input delay from the user but nothing special unless you are a professional gamer
Just to clarify VSync makes the GPU imitate the monitor's frequency. The opposite of freesync and gsync
Thank you so much sir for your packaged information.
Hey, thanks for the explanation. Just to clarify, I bought a 2k monitor and learned its full color gamut will only be displayed when it is at 60hz. I bought a cable that allows 2k at 144hz. Since I only need 60hz, will this cable do the job of giving 2k at 60hz? Thanks in advance.
Yea you should be all good 👍
@@MaxsTech great. Thx man
Perfectly explained. Thankyou
Thank you
does higher effect electric bills?
then how come 200 fps on 60 Hz feels smoother than 60 fps ? is it a placebo effect or what
Simple: input is hz and output is FPS, so you won’t see much difference with hz but a lot more difference with fps
Well both are outputs. Like if I was baking cookies and you were selling them. I can bake 120 cookies each second (fps) but if you can only hand out 60 each second to the customer (hz) the customer (you) will only see what is delivered.
Wait so if I have a 144 hz tv and a 120 fps ps5 I will run 120 fps right?
I have a 165 hz monitor so even if i get like 200 or 240 fps in game ill only see 165 hz right?
So if i have a 144 hertz monitor and i set my game to 144 fps is that like perfect?
More people need to see this with the new console and a lot more.
Good explanation, so if going up to 100FPS or more in a 60hz monitor is useless,
Then I'll be using vsync more often on games that give me more FPS than my TV is capable of receiving!
That way to save resources and get less heat in my GPU...
correct me if I got it wrong!!
FPS is more important then hz
Thank you for the clarification Max
So lets say if my console is sending 120fps to my Tv witch is capable of giving 240hz im only seeing 120fps an 120hz basically?
basically. your tv would be refreshing faster than the console was updating the frame if you had 120fps pushing out to a 240hz display.
I-Fresh-I yup. The tv or display refresh rate is basically the cap. You can feed as much frames per second and you’ll see exactly that as long as you don’t exceed the displays refresh rate. Also...yh those are big dreams looking for a console with 120fps😂 I mean you made this comment 10 months ago. But the next gen consoles coming out this fall are probably gonna have 120 FPS. The series x at least. Not sure about ps5
@@deekay2899 xbox one x is capable of 120 fps @1080p/1440p via HDMI 2.0 port, assuming game isnt hardlocked to sub 120 fps.
Very quick and easy explanation love it**
We needed you, ur the hero we needed
Great vid thank you short and simple
Helpful explanation, thanks
What if you have a 165hz monitor and you have around 1000 fps, and then fps drops to like 800-400-600... can you see and feel the difference or is it the same because its more than 165fps?
Even if you had 1000 Hz I don't think you would be able to tell the difference. There is a quick rate of diminishing returns after 240hz IMO. 60 to 120 is a huge difference then 120 to like 240 is very very slight almost indecernable difference. After that I don't think most people would even be able to tell if you had then guess between anything higher.
So basically if you have a 60hz monitor the max fps you can get 60, so on with 144 and 240 hz?
i have a 240HZ monitor and it's set to 240. My graphic card is RTX 3080ti and CPU is AMD Ryzen 9 5900X. i get 400 fps in overwatch with low settings. Do i increase the graphics of the game until i get 240 fps because that's what i am getting anyway?
I would, no need to run on low setting with 400fps. You likely wont even notice any difference past like…. Idk 100 fps? Depends on the person but you can mess with the setting to see. I would at least raise the settings until you get down to 240
@@MaxsTech thanks a lot . I have. 3080ti and I hate it that I can’t enjoy the amazing graphics of a game because of fps drops .
I have a 4K 100HZ Capable TV, will it deliver satisfactory performance quality for my Playstation 5 Console?
Very informative thanks ❤
That photo beside u is lengendary
thanks haha that's actually a painting my dad did
i think i got it. say i'm running 15mph. there's a cameraman trying to match my speed but he's only 13mph. since it's only 2 miles off, it's possible the camera can see some of me, but not completely and the recording of me afterwards is weird looking, jumping over the place and lagging. so what we need is a cameraman that matches my speed to show the accuracy of the mph i'm running. is that correct?
Thanks for explaining this stuff!!!!!!!
means if i have 144hz display and i get 200+ fps , what i am watching on screen is only 144 fps ...........??????
thank u soo much, ur explanation was really good
Bruh it's so simple thanks so much my g
so u have a new laptop with rtx 3050 but obly 120 hz, so i'm only getting 120 fps?
How many FPS on fortnite will I get if I have pc that have a gtx 1660 GeForce graphic card with Ryzen 5 2600 and a monitor that is 75hz?? Please help thank you 🙏
synFlickz 75
Unless you cap it lower
What about AV and SCART
you recommended an 144hz monitor full hd or an 2k 60hz?
so i have a good Computer i can see at the 144hz monitor all this HZ , with DP or Hdmi? which is better?
i saw more cables,hdmi 2.0 1.4 etc,it this good between an DP ?
fps = how quick and smooth it feels
hz = times it refresh per second
i play valorant and i get 120 fps to 50 moving up and down my monitor has 60 hz i have a geforce gtx 950 can some one tell me if with a 144hz it will improve the laggy screen?
Yep. Pair a Frames-capable graphics card with a display hardware that can match what its being told to display.
so if i got a 60 fps and 60hz then its perfect im asking cus i want a 4k monitor for 60fps movies while i have a main 144hz monitor for gaming
So it's like hz is your eyes and frames is the actions it can see
So if my laptop comes with a 60hz panel and I’m able to get 140fps from a game and I connect a 144hz monitor to it will I get the full 100+FPS experience???
Very useful!
Is there any meaning to use 300 fps in 144hz monitor
Makes so much sense now!!!!
so if my game can only support 30fps, even i have 144hz monitor, the experience won't feel much different?
I know the game will be still 30fps, but is the overall experience will be smoother?
