So beautiful, so demur. Nice Rolls Royce engine view! You should get advertising kick-back for that. Is this your nephew on your mums home screen, at 2:50 ?? The Saily eSim app is just what I need when traveling. Too bad you didn't show us the stone bath. 😂I loved the blooper at the end. Great to see such a quick post from a week ago.
Thank you Jayden, for giving us a breathtaking bird's-eye view of Hong Kong airport and its stunning surroundings during take-off, showcasing the numerous beautiful bays and outer islands that Hong Kong has to offer. ❤
Scheduled to fly this bird (ER variant) in January after an Aircraft swap out of Melbourne followed by a jaunt on their A330. I have been trying to fly Cathay for the longest time so pretty stoked that it’s finally gonna happen. You’ve got some stunning shots on approach! Thanks for sharing! Best, Nilesh
I flew in a B777 last year from Shanghai to Hong Kong and was particularly impressed by the amount of leg room, especially when you compare it to the Airbus A350 I flew from HK to Manchester. I had the same meal as your mum, and yes it was very tasty.
Hello from Japanese local who often visit Kyushu region (Kumamoto and Fukuoka). Thank you for visiting Fukuoka, the biggest city in Kyushu. I hope someday you could also visit Kumamoto using direct flight from Hong Kong. Hope that you have enjoyed visit in Fukuoka and looking forward for your next video.
Yess I look forward to visit Kumamoto one day! Probably rent a car too. I thought about joining a day tour from Fukuoka but it looks exhausting haha. Thank you so much for watching! Arigato!
Wonderful shots of the various communities of Hong Kong. Your photography is excellent. I still get big thrills when you announce yet another coat hook so please keep reviewing them. Great video Jayden. Cheers, Colin.
Another great trip report/vlog JW! Love the RR engine sound at take off! You did say it would be a full flight, full it was! The meal offering was quite impressive and .... demur!!! Sounded like an Aussie in the flight deck!! I'm glad you didn't mispronounce "Fukuoka" 🤣PS you made a little boo boo with the time stamp when you landed at FUK! We so love Japan, the vending machines are next level, I even saw in Kyoto, where you can purchase a bra from a vending machine! Keep up the great work buddy!
Yep I’ve been blessed with Aussie pilots lately. Can’t escape them (even after moving out from Australia😂😂) Last week’s HKG-Hangzhou, the Kiwi pilot even pronounced ‘Hangzhou’ the way Cantonese people would, I was surprised and impressed haha. Thanks James!
another great video JW 😃 Surprised you didn't mention Songshan airport [TSA] at 14:43. Lucky I wasn't sitting next to you when the person in front barfed .... I probably would have followed, that is 1 smell I really hate lol
I always enjoy your trip reports, ya know. Beautiful Hong Kong harbor. All the islands. I may send you a link to a funny song about throwing up. We'll see. That Teppan-Yari restaurant though. Bouji and with demure piano music too. 😅 Japan is the vending machine capital of the world, I think. Thanks JWo.
I can't believe this flight was full by B777-300 438 seats configuration in this day 😮😮😮 "from Hong Kong to Fukuoka" There is absolutely "over tourism" but there is no surprise if the flight is from Hong Kong to Tokyo or Osaka
I believe those are HAECO Vector seats. What baffles me is while they replaced the seats, why didn't they go ahead and replace the IFE with a bigger one, too?
they did ‘replace’ it haha. Old IFE is from 2007-09 ish Current 777 iFE is from 777-300ER when they had the 9 abreast (from year 2011-13 ish). 777-300ER has newer screens
I remember I did vomit once on a plane, but that was 10 years ago. I feel sorry for nearby passengers and cleaning crews… I think at that time there are no vomit bags, so I just did it on my side. lol😅
It's interesting how Cathay has 438 seats (396 economy) in this aircraft yet only has recliner business seats and no premium economy. Meanwhile Air Canada has fully-flat business and premium economy in the 450-seat version of this aircraft with 398 economy. I'm guessing it might be due to the extra galley that Cathay has at door 4 in this aircraft? Also, I wonder why this non-ER has smaller TVs in economy compared to those in the -300ER? Why not get the same seats and TVs for both versions of the aircraft? Either way that still doesn't hide the fact that their 777 still has an inferior product compared to their A350.
I get air sick easily when I travel on any aeroplane flight regardless of airline company and aircraft type. I also feel a bit uncomfortable because in many flights, there is always a very strong smell in there (probably jet fuel) which may increase my risk to get sick in the flight.
Cathay (and HK Express) is big in Japan, way more flights to Japan than SIA. On the other hand SIA is bigger in Australia, they may be cheaper as they have greater supply
That's funny, you say it's your Thursday trip report, but you film on September 1, it's not Thursday, it's Sunday. Just say welcome to your channel. 14:48 and 14:59, Thanks for sending me the video and picture of Taipei and the in flight entertainment map that your flying to Fukuoka on snapchat.
777s with Rolls Royce Trent engines? You see fewer of them now as the classic 777s gradually retires from airlines that still have them. The current generation of 777s (especially the -300ERs) only offer GE90 engines. Don't get me wrong, GE makes good turbofans. But its always nicer for planes to have engine options and not be stuck with just one engine choice. As for CX...I guess its harder to tell in economy, but is the shortage of flight attendants in the cabin quite noticeable? Folks have been saying CX is short-staffed.
Yep! Non ER always have more options haha. CX has been flying those 777-300 non-ER since the days of Kai Tak! Before GE90 became available I think. Yes CX always has fewer crew compared to other Asian airlines (before staff shortages became an issue). But the crew to pax ratio is very similar to most big western carriers as wages are not exactly that low in HK. Pilot shortage is the real hurdle for CX now. They have a lot of crew now :) Hiring plenty around Asia Thanks for watching!
They pay (super) well. They have enough second/first officers. But a lot of senior pilots and trainers retired during covid. I have 747 cargo pilot friends who can’t fly right now because their instructor just retired haha
ahh yes I agree on this one. Foreign and local cabin crew are paid the same BUT foreign crew get extra $7000 per month for rental. I wouldn’t be happy if I were a local crew who pay HK rent
2:34 Been here on January 5th 2006 after doing CX906 MNL-HKG using the same B777-300. Very different from what it looked in 2006 since they used to have tinted windows. I wonder if you remember the days when they had 3-3-3 economy class seating and Regional Business class being the old 1990s cradle seat in 2-3-2 PTV is stowed in Armrest. 7:43 RP-C9902 Sistership of my mum's flight PR408 March 27th 2023 RP-C9901 originally delivered without the Winglet. 9:09 same as the SQ TG and EK versions due to them being Trent 800s like CX but different from KE JL& NH which use PW4090-4098 engines. 8:19 behind this CX A330-343E are 5J A339 RP-C39xx and SU A330-343E How was this trip overall and Excellent report so far
The engines remind me of SQ's classic 777s which were all retired post-Covid 😢
OMG I had no idea we were being set up for an advert!😂😂😂😂

Love the video!
Great review there, Jaden
thanks William!!
You are so fortunate to have a beautiful airport in HKG. My only visit there was still a flight into Kai Tak. Scary stuff in the day!
Bumped into you at the Pier and good to see you enjoy this flight and the trip!
oh hi Tony!! Hope you and your mother had a great trip to Japan :))

@@JaydenWong Ahh yes, I think I've seen glimpses of him. He must be very proud of you.
I like the rolls royce engine :)
Welcome to Fukuoka since my hometown there 🥳🙋
Thank you!! My first visit there was April. This would be my second and certainly won’t be my last😁😁😁

Very interesting and informative, really enjoyed this.
Fly safe. Thanks again for this vlog. Cheers.
I used to love flying my commute on Cathay all the time but haven't flown them after I got one of these 3-4-3 seated planes.
Wonderful shots of the various communities of Hong Kong. Your photography is excellent. I still get big thrills when you announce yet another coat hook so please keep reviewing them. Great video Jayden. Cheers, Colin.
Great Video As always 😊
OMG! there is no way you flew on a B777-300 NON ER! VERY VERY lucky as they are very rare 😯😲😮

Super video esp the views of Taipei!❤omg the unique noisy 777 engines 😂 and it's a 20 yr old one at that!
It”s better for a good variety of breakfast choices at the Wing lounge 😊
Well done 👏 good work j
I love your videos Jayden❤

There were a fair few Japanese people/expats onboard too :) I’m moving away from Tokyo/Osaka because of overtourism haha
Such a good video Jayden Keep up the work can’t wait to be a member and pay you 20 dollars every week soon!
I love 🧡 your vids and vlogs there so fantastic
Woohoo another Japan 🇯🇵 travel 🤗
Yess! Currently in Hiroshima :))
Lovely plane! I think Cathay will replace the 777-300s with a330neo though.
yep very likely I think, or some 777-300ER will become short haul planes before they eventually get replaced by 777x
I believe those are HAECO Vector seats. What baffles me is while they replaced the seats, why didn't they go ahead and replace the IFE with a bigger one, too?

777-300 non er is very rare aircraft, only 60 aircraft delivered back in the day.
Going to Fukuoka and Nagasaki this November. Super excited! Will be trying KAL from INC to FUK and Starlux from FUK to TPE
Awesome!!!
@JaydenWong Jayden you should try Starlux with 6'4
Jaden
Great video, as always. A heads up, you might want to blur out your apple ID 😬.
Keep up the good work 🛫
Thanks for the review. There might be an error/typo at the end - landing 3pm in FUK 3pm/HKG 2am 😉
nice

Was the plane packed?
2:52 so not demure 😂😂😂😂

Too bad they still haven't used the new safety video, can't wait to see it in action next time on a CX flight
Note to self: suspend dinner service while watching a Jayden vlog, in case there's a new vomit story 🤮🤣
That's a ton of pax at baggage claim for this flight!
Great 👍

773 got the TV from old 777-300ER when the ER got new screens. With the number of seats, AC legroom is a lot less legroom :)
Hi Jayden, have they played the new song of cathay for boarding and landing?
I get air sick easily when I travel on any aeroplane flight regardless of airline company and aircraft type. I also feel a bit uncomfortable because in many flights, there is always a very strong smell in there (probably jet fuel) which may increase my risk to get sick in the flight.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
As much as I like CX but I avoid flying their 777s because of the 10 abreast config
Oh I think you got the timing incorrect should be pm Japan time not am lol😂
Why Cathay is more cheaper than SIA? When i was searching for flight to Japan from Indonesia, Cathay is more cheaper rather than SIA
