I'm pretty sure the "Twitch Streamer" comment is a reference to a soulsborne player that bullied his way through World (ignoring pretty much all of the game's mechanics, and battling the community that was trying to help) and then rage quit to a low rank village Khezu (very early monster and extra easy to boot) in Monster Hunter Rise.
The hardest Monster Hunter is your first. It can be a miserable experience while you're digesting all of the mechanics, but once it gets you it's one of the greatest game experiences you can have. The newbie period is also very nostalgic for most veterans (and why we love watching/helping new players).
Monster Hunter is a game that expects you to learn from experience, mentorship, and observation. It's true that the game doesn't tell you much of anything. Because of that, it's not a game you can rush. You will need to grind, you will need to do hunts over, and you will die. It's just part of the game.
Be open to the lessons the game is teaching you, take your time, have fun, and you'll be fine.
    Happy hunting

If you want to catalyse your learning. There are two ways to do so.
    1. Pick up greatsword or switch axe. These weapons are hard to pull off because greatsword needs timing, and switch axe is really hard to use while avoiding damage (without using certain armour). The reason I say this is because the way it forces you to play smart actually speeds up learning. I went from grade 0 garbage to top tier badass in about 2 weeks after using them religiously. I love my swaxe.
    2. Kill every monster at least once with every type of weapon (do this if you are feeling masochistic. It'll increase the grind) every weapon in this game is unique. This not only helps you learn the weapons you like, but because you are forced to play differently, it teaches you alot about monsters. From which moves you can stand still to evade, to when you can punish and safe distances. Even good windows after certain attacks to heal. My friend who only plays hammer wonders how I can style on an enemy with a swaxe despite him being better than me at every other game. It's because not only am I terminally determined to win when I lose, but the practice from other weapons keeps me flexible.
3rd. Yes, I said two. Now it's three. The best trait to getting good is... Grit. You have to be willing to bash your head against any obstacle til your reflexes figure out how to win. Sometimes the brain is just not enough, let your nerves figure it out. I've had hunts where a monster kicks my ass in two seconds. I lean forward. I get beat in 1 second. I squint and I clap it within a minute. No matter how hopeless a hunt is, you can and will win it. You just need to use your rat brain. Kushala daora is a name you NEED to remember for it cause only 2 weapons can scum it, neither of my face weapons are good against it cause it will literally stay out of bounds til the hunt timer runs out. My friend and I tried to farm it. It beat our asses and I proceeded to solo it after my friend gave up all hope, to then carry him through it. If it gets you mad it's good for you, cause most gamers need the extra blood flow to stop the inevitable clotting in our legs.
    4. Oh dear it's still going. 4 is to get a good palico and treat it like a person. These crackheads are amazing. I have a boom palico. She is bewm. Bewm singlehandedly saves hunts on the odd occasion. Or paralysed an enemy and enables me to go turbo zoomies as I turn my weapon into a pain fuelled popcorn machine. Palicos are peak.
    5. Have fun. This game will occasionally maul you. Morale is important. If you get mauled in 2 seconds. Think about the thrill of victory. The thrill of the hunt. That challenge that'll help you as a person advance. Also disregard my first choice to an extent. Pick any weapon that fits you and your playstyle in gaming. I play defensively in most games so I grabbed gunlance to start. I still go back to use it. Greatsword and switch axe only came to be cause this game made me a turbo aggressive player with no regard for my characters health.
In conclusion. Enjoy your time gaming. The game is peak. I hated it my first time playing. But that's because I didn't have the patience to see it for what it is. A masterpiece. I'll most certainly enjoy your streams when they arise

I'm pretty sure you'll get the hang of it as long as you take it slow and more importantly, have fun. Yes, the game looks daunting, but it's not like it'll unload all that information all at once, so just take your time, especially when hunting a monster for the first time.
Your biggest advantage is that the majority of the community loves to help teach new hunters, so people will be there to carry you along. Happy Hunting!

I personally found that once I discovered not just my main weapon - but began to understand the "flow" of my main weapon - then the game really opened up to me.
Monster Hunter is (sadly) notorious for not having a good new player experience... but if you stick with it and put in the time to actually learn the game, then it becomes an amazing experience.
    All the best! Happy Hunting!

10:54 Trust me, after he kicks your teeth in for the 15th time, you'll notice the move that keeps killing you. Which is pretty much monster hunter, you can get better armor and weapons but if you don't memorize the monsters behaviors you are gonna struggle, which is why having to hunt it multiple times to craft armor is part of the loop.
Also for fun many people call the true endgame of Monster Hunter "Fashion hunting" cause after you conquered everything, you just wanna kill everything in style.

  • @shaekelley6500

It's practically impossible for people not to get better/improve when they constantly play monster hunter regardless of the version. The best example I can think of is when I got into the game I could still see but I wasn't exactly the greatest at these kinds of games. I didn't really have references so I just went with what worked in the games. And it wasn't until my second game in the franchise that I was able to make it to Master rank which is basically the endgame which I had never done before despite my introduction. And considering like I said in my last comment that I continue to play these old games even now without eyesight whatsoever that should show you how good the monster hunter gameplay loop feedback is.
