Chris and Dr.Gary Brucato knnow what they talking about. You may not agree with everything they say but they're talking from vast knowledge and experience. These guys are amazing and I truly appreciate them sharing this information along with their EDUCATED OPINIONS ❤
The wierd thing is that many people will be mad at you for believing that the family is innocent because the crime was so awful. What does that have to do with it? The crime was awful and therefore it is vital to get the RIGHT person.
Absolutely.. Too many things point to the family . I mean, why did t the person who killed her take her away, unless they were trying to set the Ramsey's up, look at the letter? At the items used that belonged to the mother, the amount of ransom asked for in the note WAS the amount Mr Ramsey got or was expecting from the company he either owned or worked for, OWNED I SUSPECT.. So much makes no sense.. But it must feel so fkd up if their innocent & having the finger pointed at them for ever ? If only I could BELIEVE they were ? Maybe something much more sinister was behind her death , Whose to no really. People have got holds over even the most INFLUENTIAL of men/ woman or families? Maybe they couldn't say anything, & more..???
I've always tried to keep an open mind about this case. I've been following it from the beginning. So many unanswered questions. This was an interesting video. It gave me some different perspectives on the case. The idea of a stranger committing this crime seems far fetched to me. I think this person knew the family and knew the layout of the house.
This is the ‘only’ video in over 20 videos I’ve watched that goes past all the noise about the Hollywoodness of the ransom note and highlights the most important facts about the case and about the killing. Thank you for hopefully persuading some of the people obsessed with the family theory, that there is a genuine reason to suspect a third party. An extremely good one. A lot of people can’t get beyond the note, and that is a big reason why the investigative agencies failed! Even if you suspect the family, you must also consider ‘all’ possibilities!
Sooo… the suspect has done this “hundreds of times” but shows up having to make a garrote on the fly with some paint brushes that just happen to be laying around? Hardly
The combination of on-the-job knowledge and a truly in-depth understanding of the criminal mind made for an outstanding listen. I’m pretty sure I’ve heard every podcast/story about this case and this was up there as one of my top 3. The Drs insight of this type of offender is exactly inline with what i have always thought. There are so many more victims of this perp out there that we don’t even know about. That is why the DNA MUST be processed properly and quickly. Thankyou gentlemen for your thoughtful, respectful, honest and accurate discussion.
The garot has always puzzled me. It's one of the things that I've always believed exonerated the Ramseys. The theories about Burke and then the parents covering it up is ludicrous when we look at the state of her body. It's never made sense that the the brother, a parent or all three were involved. The evidence is very clear. This was a sadistic exprrienced predator. One that will have other crimes against children in his history. Possibly violence against adult women as well. This type of crime was way above the level of a cover-up by parents. If JR was supposedly responsible, where are all the accompanying behaviors and evidence required to implicate him? No one came out of the woodwork to say he had done anything to them. No allegations, prior convictions, no prostitutes, or former partners accusing him of sadistic violence.. This crime was done by an outsider who was very close but probably not known to the family. Detective Ardnt should not be a police officer anywhere!
Google toggle rope. Also, read the medical examiner's report. It says that she did not have neck injuries consistent with the rope being used in it's typical manner. The tape was applied to her mouth post mortem etc. Do more research.
The grand jury didnt even take lou smits theories seriously They trusted the house keeper more than lou and they chose to indite the parents but DA WOULDN'T LET IT HAPPEN
I’ve read several books and watched many documentaries on this case but have never been able to subscribe to a particular theory. THANK YOU Chris and Dr. Brucato for your expertise and analysis! You two are both always right on point and I trust your experience and opinions. I believe this show tonight could help John Ramsey get the paintbrush tested and could lead to this case finally being solved.
You got into this case ! Deep like I did ! Thank you Chris and the cold case ! Get these kids justice! This case has always got to me ! Good points tonight , thank you for helping these cases / victim's
It wasn't a garotte. It was one of Patsys' paintbrushes, and Burke the boy scout loved to whittle and make knots. The cord is the same cord that hung a plane from Burke's ceiling that mysteriously vanished after a photo was found. Burke did it. They covered it up. Before anyone says a child could not do that then think of the cases of Mary Bell and Jamie Bulger. Then, throw into the mix a boy that was sidelined for his sister that had severe scatological problems and jealousy. It's beyond obvious. Patsy wrote the most bizarre ransom note in criminal history, and John destroyed all the crime scene evidence. The lie carries on to protect Burke. I take my hat off to JR. He deserves an Oscar.
Oh damn be careful accusing baby brother Burke. Last time someone accused him it was CBS and he sued the panties off them for defamation so I hope Burke doesn't read your case evidenciary analysis and if he does i hope you have top dog for your legal representation
Whatever was used for a garrot was a garrot. A garrote is a handheld ligature of chain, rope, scarf, wire or fishing line, etc. used to strangle a person.
Thank you Chris and Dr. Gary for another fascinating and enlightening discussion. I always learn so much from you in these discussions. I never thought Burke was the culprit, and I'm dismayed at the sloppy work that was this investigation. It's also frightening that another girl from the dance school was attacked...sounds like that needs to be investigate d more closely.
Can you tell me how a stranger would know how to navigate this convoluted, confusing floor plan of a house?! How would they know where to find her bedroom, basement etc? There were many entrances, staircases and floors!
Because they've been in there before. Google Russell Williams of Canada and watch how he stalked his victims and entered their homes on more than one occasion before he attacked them. He'd be in there sometimes while they were even home and that was part of the thrill for him. Somebody could have been down in that basement a 100 times and nobody really would have noticed it and there's still would have been spots to hide even if Burke came down to play with his train.
@@traceonthecase Russell Williams did not spend hours exploring peoples' houses, learning where they kept torches, batteries, blankets, pen and paper, duct tape and paintbrushes. He crept into women's houses, at night, and then began raping and killing them. And he may have only started doing the latter because he was seen by a woman (he claims), while he was hiding in the basement. He also didn't pen ransom notes in the handwriting of the women living there. The intruder theory is ridiculous.
@@susanforget8133 Really? Then he would've seen that the alarm wasn't activated and taken JonBenet out the butler kitchen door which John stated on pg 366 of DoI was open and unlocked.
Awesome show....replay crew! I agree with you Chris, and have thought the same since the beginning! What FAMILY MEMBER would use a garrote????? It's ludicrous!!
@@Mrs.Stone99 They were involved in the case and were passionate can you blame them entirely for standing up for what they believed was the right thing to do for this innocent child?
@@Mrs.Stone99 we can't get caught up in these distractions all over again we have to focus on WHO did it not WHAT could've or should've been done differently. We can't reverse the hands of time we have to focus on the now.
I lived in a Colorado when this happened, I had friends that lived in Boulder. My friend’s and family thought it was the family until Lou Smit came in to the picture. There were 2 sets of markings on Jon Benet that looked identical to stun gun markings. Stun guns were used on farms and easily accessible. Lou Smit was a pit bull when it came to investigations, all of his theories and take on evidence was stellar. The world of beauty pageants that Jon Benet was thrown-in-to or allowed to participate was like leading a calf to a slaughterhouse of pedoph*les…
There was no stun gun. Perhaps if the ramseys had allowed jon benéts body to be exhumed and hadn't had her buried so quickly these sort of myths could've been cleared up. It's just such a shame the ramseys weren't more cooperative with the police....
The manufacturer of the gun released a statement that it was not their gun and that their gun doesn't leave those types of marks. reenactments were done. Grown men yelped and were full of adrenaline after the it was applied, not subdued
Somebody explain how that cord tied to a stick is a garrote. If you twist the stick repeatedly, nothing happens other than knotting in the cord. No one I know of has addressed this. The loop has to go around the stick. Not that I use these, I just know the mechanics of it.
Big hug Chris 🐻 this one is a bit close to home, perhaps. Some interesting inside info after such a long time. Hope I live long enough to see someone put the missing piece of the puzzle finally together.
Replay crew. Just started. I'm glad y'all are talking about the garrote. I find it hard to think Partsy or Burke would have used this weapon. I don't think anyone in the family is responsible.
@@odinsdottir3898 yeah , patsy and Burke surely not. Patsy seemed to adore her children they were very well looked after . John was hardly home away from work a lot and Jon Benet told the gardener she missed her dad .
Nobody talks about the knots on the garrote Navy knots boy scout knots Yachting knots Jon was all those and burke had a swiss army knife where he says in sn interview it helps tie knots better
How would an intruder know the layout of the home, know the Ramsey's so well they knew there was a hidden back spiral staircase leading downstairs that only Patsey used, know about the hidden room in the basement, know there was no smoke detectors to be Buring cigarettes as you suggest, know there where note pads and pens where and find them in the dark house, take the time to draft practice notes and finally write a 3 pg ransom not with no intention of taking the child?
@@trixiec4880 I believe they got into the house while the Ramsey's were away. They were waiting in the house. They could have written the ransom letter then.
My theory has always been from day 1, never the Ramseys, but that the offender knew the family, maybe even a relative of one of John's employees OR had been around the dance/pageant arena, knew they were going out Christmas night, had time to get in and WAIT, and wrote the note BEFORE they got home, he had all the time in the world. Laid in wait.
Yea But then what did he do with the note? lol.... The note was found at the bottom of the stairs, where the Ramseys walked down from their master bedroom... It couldn't have been before, and it's not like he walked around with it... There were quotes in that ransom note that had relationships to the movie posters and books in the house... More fingers point at the Ramseys than an intruder man, they just do.
You said the cop should have searched every inch of the house. True. But why didn’t John? Why didn’t John look though every room (including the wine cellar) before calling the police?
I have an Interest in criminology and forensics. This is one of the cases I follow with interest. I wanted to thank you for a very interesting interview. Very informative and I have learnt alot more about the case from you.
This New Netflix documentary made me even more suspicious of them then ever before,so much was left out!!!!! Statements from the maid,The Whites, the phone call to 911,Did John Ramsey have a big part in making and directing this?
The ransom letter makes sense because an intruder would have had hours to write this note if he entered when the Ramsey's were gone that evening. Literally hours to go through the house, grab the notepad, and see the amount of Mr. Ramsey's bonus. He probably chuckled at the idea of such a note, it was such a funny thing to him, so bizarre. But then he brought her to the basement, started the torture there and killed her. There could be many reasons why the change of heart. There is a lot of evidence here for a viable theory of an intruder. It can't be dismissed. I hope the touch DNA is started soon, if not already.
Another thing I haven’t seen anyone else bring up is the fact that since she apparently had some pineapple in her stomach, who’s to say someone wasn’t watching her through a window, waited until she was alone, tapped on window or door to get her attention, and if it was someone she recognized/knew, what if she let them in not thinking anything of it? It was Christmas night, after all, so it could have even been someone she thought was Santa or something. Then, they locked the door back up after entering, grabbed her up & took her to the basement. Honestly, even if this case was solved today, regardless of which theory it turned out to be (whether it’s an intruder or one of the family members), it’d still be one of the strangest cases ever. No matter who actually did it, the facts that we do know are so bizarre overall.
@@rhonda9267 Yes, very true! Also, I see in some of your other comments that you think the housekeeper’s husband could be responsible, and that’s something I wondered about too! I haven’t seen many people bring him up as a suspect, but he definitely would have had access to the key to their house, as well as a wealth of knowledge about the family in general. What do you think about the DNA? Has the housekeeper’s husband’s ever been tested?
The strangest thing was how Burke totally ignored the pineapple in the bowl in that police interview...where thet asked how that do you notice in this picture...now that's just really weird.... I'm pretty sure Burke did it and the parents covered it up.,.
@@sherrielson517 I don’t know. I feel like there just isn’t enough proof yet for me personally to say the parents did it or covered it up. The DNA found at the scene didn’t match any of them, and that throws me off. A lot of other things, I can see it being them, but then another crucial puzzle piece doesn’t seem to fit, so I don’t know what to think.
I'm sure the house keeper wasn't getting rich working 4them & she'd probably seen how much his "bonus alone" was & honestly I suppose it's possible her husband could've.
So many rule out the brother but not based on actual biology. As a nine yr old baseball player and boy scout, and whittler, he had both the skills and the strength to inflict the damage. I'm not saying he did it, just saying he certainly would have been physically capable, and had the knowledge for the knots and whatnot.
@@SJ-ni6iy the device wasn't a REAL garotte, as Nick and others have pointed out many times. It's more of a Boyscout device called a 'pull stick' made for dragging heavy sticks of wood or other things. There was no tighten/release function to it like there is with a true garotte.
You guys have completely changed my mind, i used to think it was one of the Ramsey family, but you have pointed out so many things that the mainstream media never mentions and I have no idea why the police haven't zoned in on. Fascinating live stream thank you both!
sorry but you can't explain away the evidence in this case- fibers from outfit Patsy Ramsey was wearing that night were found under the duct tape, on the rope and in the paint tray where the paint brushes came from to make the garrote..over 70 suspects gave handwriting samples, Patsy Ramsey was the only one that could not be excluded as being the author of the ransom note! Patsy was still wearing the same outfit as the night before and still had full makeup on when Boulder Police Arrived! why is this important? it's a good indication she never went to bed that night..coincidentally the ransom note was written on Patsy's note pad, coincidentally Patsy finds the ransom note then Patsy makes the 911 call..you also keep harping on Linda Arndt, because she made mistakes does not mean the Ramsey are innocent..
@@USArmy91222 I agree with you, it was NOT an outsider, who writes a kidnapping note and kills the victim before it can be paid ? Makes no sense, covering up for their 9 year old, who by the way had some very odd behaviors and they found his feces smeared in jonbenet's bed and on her Christmas chocolates .I think that was total jealousy, she took a bite of his pineapple and he hit her in the head with the flashlight, the fact that he wouldn't answer the detective about what was on the bowl tells it all !! Once you tell one lie, it has go onto the next and the next lie
@@sherrielson517 yes, totally agree with you also!! i think that family had some dark secrets and they weren't as "normal" as they tried to appear! something was very odd with all of them including the 9 yr old brother..
The use of the garrote was overkill. It was BTK-type stuff. Now, the question is, were Patsy, John, or Burk capable of that? One of them accidentally unaliving Jon Benet and covering it up is one thing, but acting out their perversion with the garrote is a whole other level of depravity.
Typically when there is a ransom note (letter in this case) you don’t find a deceased body inside the home. She had her blanket, something personal (like the Watts girls had their blankets). The house was a labyrinth, someone knew the home. Someone knows something and they are taking it to the grave or already did. I’m not saying she did this but may have known what happened. Do we know if she was having an affair? Someone protecting someone? I fear this case will never be solved and we are never going to know what really happened or who did this. 😔
She had just survived stage 4 cancer, she wasn’t supposed to live, the treatments were so awful she would be hospitalized. I don’t think she was cheating.
I'm a retired cop ....I just want to qualify why I had been to an event of this nature...I have seen some strange stuff...evil things coming from the mind of children as young as 10 being very capable of inflicting this type of crime .
@BrianHopkins-xm2ez sorry but your personal experience doesn't prove bruke committed the crime, lol, I work in child psych as a nurse and that also doesn't prove jack
I find it extremely hard to believe he could lie so well and easily I'm his police interrogation. He gave zero indication he knew anything of what happened. Kids are terrible liars. I don't believe he could hide something so horrific for so long.
Lou Smit ? He was the ONLY GUY that knew or at least said things that anyone with common sense could see from the very beginning. Of course Mr. Chris was working with that man. I am certain that's the police man from Co.Springs I liked immediately following this terrifying crime. Being here and around Boulder during this time made it exceptionally personal to so many of us. The Boulder PD still have not made amends to this family. Poor Patsy Ramsey, of course all the Ramsey family for what they were put through by them. May God rest Patsy’s soul with her beautiful precious little girl Jonbennet. My heart has been broken for this whole family all these years. Thank you to both of you for remembering this little girl and discuss the thoughts of your brilliant minds.
I grew up over by Jeffco airport, Flat Irons Mall, Stanley Lake area. Actually I grew up in the same Neighborhood as the Jessica Ridgeway case. Even as a 7 year old (I am 1 year older than Jonbenet) never seemed right that it was the parents but as you know that whole state has drank the Kool-Aid. I am no longer in Colorado. I have moved to Wisconsin 2 years ago. What are people saying about the Documentary? And yes completely agree this case has made everyone in the North Western part of the Denver Metro Area feel like they are deeply connected to his case.
@butwereallsombdyspecial Ya that was also a very hard case for me because like I said I grew up in that neighborhood so I saw my childhood flash across 9News, Denver7 and Fox31.
Awe Chris &Dr Gary. This was a very difficult show to watch. I’ve been avoiding ever checking this case bc it’s so upsetting what that darlin wee girl went through. Thank you for explaining so many things the had puzzled about it. 💕🥰
I respect you guys immensely and accept that we may have been wrong all along..... but there are four things that I just can't shake: That Patsy was in the same clothes as the night before, that the note clearly said to not contact law enforcement - yet they immediately did, that they did not sit together whilst awaiting the ransom call, and that no note was made of the deadline passing. These are not natural behaviours - if the parents were not involved, then why did they act in this fashion????
So what if she wore the same clothes. Warm clothes and they had an early start on a cold morning. In NZ we wear the same winter clothes several days in a row as they take forever to dry and not everybody has driers. We just change our underclothing.
You must not be aware they got home at 10 pm they had a private plane to catch at 530 an after they got up..long holiday season who cares about putting on or sleep in same clothes. Helps to know all details of a police report before commenting
It has never set right with me, either, that a fashion plate like Patsy was wearing her same old holiday outfit from the night before and she had a full face of makeup on like she had never gone to bed. Are we to believe that she showered, put her makeup on and then put the clothes she was wearing the day before back on? And that she was going to make coffee, pack what they needed and get the kids up and ready while wearing her party outfit?
@@davidwilliams4498They did not have a private plane, that was another lie that the media released. They never took a private plane anywhere, not even when they flew back to Atlanta to bury JB. John never owned a private plane. All lies from the media.

I never believed the rope was “ real”. I suspect it may have been part of the staging. I don’t know if their family had anything to do with it but I have heard Burke knew how to tie unique knots and John knew too because he was a sailor. All sailors know how to tie knots. Just one of many theories, of course.
Who tf doesn't know how to tie a knot? Patsy tied the knots, as fibres from her red jumper were found on them. She also wrote the ransom note. And killed JB.
No kidnapper would ask for small amount of $118,000. Why $118,000 instead of $200,000 which is a whole number. Whoever wrote the ransom note is trying to focus on John's associates as they are the only people that knows about the $118,000 bonus he got from work. This is no intruder this is an inside job
People do weird things. I had a staff member that would make appointments like 10:06, she was of the belief if she didn’t round the time the client would remember the appointment time as it was unusual.
@Juanita-gf4te it was a 1995 bonus that appeared on everyone on his check stubs from 1996 as well, he had many check stubs in his study and acouple other places in the house
I agree that’s women cop acted like John just killed somebody and walked around the corner….. she was the Idiot… she should have never sent everyone to look around the house and touch everything….
One thing that puzzles me is this: if the police have already searched the basement and found nothing, why would John be starting his search there? It would be logical had the basement had not been already searched.
They had not done a complete search of the basement. It was more of a walk-around, looking for exit points. Also, they asked John to determine whether anything was missing from the house, not to really search the house. Why not start at the bottom and proceed upward?
@@christiannusser9976 These parents behaved very odd from the very beginning. Their consistent unwillingness to fully cooperate with the investigation is also a big red flag.
Just pondering out loud, if the first responding officers were so careless securing the house upon arrival I have less faith they would have secured the wine cellar if they found her right away. There have been cases with more holes than this one that are solved. This case was at an ideal time in forensic history, why it’s still unsolved is baffling imo I hope it comes to a conclusion in this lifetime

The Ransom note matches Patsy's. That is the big elephant in the room. Forensic handwriting experts have studied that note. Does not make sense that they would write a three-page letter. they threatened with a kidnapping yet they left the kidnapped person behind? Does not make sense that someone came in through the window?
@@ericj3331 Clearly they haven't followed this case from beginning. The handwriting expert cleared Patsy. The original DNA tests cleared the entire family. The police chief kept those results quiet for a while.
In case you may not know 2 suspects in case handwriting matched like Patsy. Ask your self 1 simple question. Would you use John's bonus amount as ransom an movie quotes from posters in her basement walls and think no one would notice. Who incriminates themselves trying to cover up a crime. You missed the whole program's purpose, which is to focus on the weapon used. Like the responding police, you are in the rabbit hole and refuse to accept any other possibility. We are hoping to expand your line of sight. When one answers why the weapon, you move on to the other whys.
i’ve never believed the brother did it that’s always seemed outrageous given her manner of death… what kid that age knows how to make a weapon like that?! Much less know what it is.. that never sat right with me and I always felt for Burke because of that
They say Burke was eating pineapple , she stole a bite n he chased her hitting her with a flashlight ...then parents created crime scene....which is ridiculous...but it fits the story...
@@deannekliene2673I’m not sure it fits the story because the strangulation came first. Otherwise the head injury would have bled out much more. That was the coup de grace. So that would mean someone did torture the girl first and that really makes no sense to think a nine year old did that - if he were c as panel if that he’d show signs of a major personality disorder by now
I originally thought the parents did it. But when I found out about the garote and how tightly it was applied to her neck and the fact that she was alive when applied, I knew this could not be staging by the parents for an accidental death. This has to be a sadistic intruder. And he walked away with a piece of the stick as a souvenir. And that ransom note may have been a way to cause further pain and distress to the parents and bide him time to get away from the area. I am watching from the Caribbean. Love your show and analysis.
I agree. I don't think the parents did this. The only thing that keeps throwing me off is the ransom note. The person wrote a 3 page letter with a pen and paper from the home. That took some time. Also, it was addressed to just John. It had information about how much his bonus was that year. Very specifically addressed to him. Why? I saw another analyst who compared the ransom note to Patsys prior Christmas letters to people (they were long letters and included updates on the family, how great they were doing) her comparison letter she wrote for the police looked different, different than her prior letters and different from the ransom. Just interesting. The police dropped the ball on this. I blame it on them, 100% why this case still isn't solved. Hope the father and for John Bannet can get justice one day.
@@leannabedore You're both laughably wrong. Go and look at the actual evidence, and stick to what is proven and what is hard, physical evidence. There is NO evidence WHATSOEVER of an intruder. None. Trace touch DNA is irrelevant. Every single item used in the crime came from inside the house, or could have. Many of the items came from hard to find place, such as drawers and cupboards. This includes a torch dug out of a junk drawer (which was cleaned, and its batteries were cleaned, and it was placed back on the kitchen counter, where it was found the next day). The blanket JB was wrapped in, which, IIRC, came from a laundry cupboard. The paintbrush, which came from the hobby room in the basement. The rope, which, IIRC, came from a backpack in the house. The pen and paper used for the ransom note. And the duct tape was a good (but not proven) match for the duct tape used to hang pictures in the house, and came from a local store. Then there's the fact that Patsy's handwriting matches perfectly the ransom note (go look at a comparison, just Google it)-- Patsy's handwriting samples given to the police also showed strong signs that she'd try to change her handwriting (compared to samples taken from her previous writings). And then the coup de grace: red fibres matching the jumper Patsy was wearing that night (and still wearing the next day, she didn't change clothes from the night before) were found on the duct tape (used to cover JB's mouth), the knots used to tie up JB and the paintbrush container the paintbrush was taken from. Anyone who thinks an intruder did all this is mental.
@@heldinahtmlhellI read this was not her actual text or the ransome but a copy written by someone random because the original were not allowed to be published which sound reasonable
Does this criminal personality behind the weapon you described match the criminal personality behind the ransom note? That would be an interesting conversation too.
Good question. I think it's a "yes". The note is as bizzarre and weird as his sick imagination. It has riddles and it's long as torture. That's why Petsy even couldn't read it carefully. She said "some things stood up", but she couldn't make much of ghe sense of the rest. I wouldn't be able too in these circumstances.. I think the note was written in advance with items from the house. Almost everything he took from the house he brought back, except for the missing part of the paintbrush, as far as I know. I also think he was stoking the family and a little girl for a while, went to the house several times before. That's what they do.
What about that ransom note? How did they get into the house? The garrot was way beyond what the parents would do. I can't imagine the Mom or Dad doing this unless trying to cover for each other or Burke. How has Burke never let it slip. So many questions.
I want to Thank You Chris for coming right out and defending young Burke Ramsey and the parents. It has always upset me that this young boy was accused and even considered a suspect in this torturous death of his sister. Thumbs up !!!
The suspect had no fear of the parents was not startled at all after-all committing a crime moving freely around had time to write a random letter and then goes back downstairs to the window and climbs out and puts the roof back to 😮
Was forsenics ever done to determine if Jon Benet was moved after death? Besides her father moving her about 5 hours later of course - for an intelligent man that was rather bizarre. He not only should have preserved the scene, he could have braced his wife for the news before presenting the corpse. It doesn’t make sense the assailant would plan a sadistic ritual inside the parent’s home, and have to possibly rush out if detected where he denied himself an exit. THE STORY makes much more sense if Patsy left the party with her son, and the father with JonBenet planned to keep visiting - remember the Ramsey’s planned to leave in the morning so they would not be able to (hypothetically) visit the next day. There are too many clues, which means some clues were planted.
A very cruel person may get elaborate w/ a "ransom" note to give the family hope she's alive, only to leave her deceased in their own house, under their nose, for them to be crushed by later when they find her. Just a thought I had.
⁴I have always believed this family was innocent. I believe someone lay in wait possibly for hours until the family came home and went to bed. It is so nice to find someone else online who isn't baying for the Ramsey's blood..Thank you for your considered coverage.
Very revealing information and theory. Thank you. Why hasn't the police department gone to Burdoe (?) DNA yet???? I'd want this case solved before the father passes.
Except there is endless amount of women who have killed their kids. Now a woman sneaking into another person's house And doing all this is pretty far-fetched though
If you watch the video of the deposition she is questioned on this. Also on the duct tape (sticky side) on her daughter's mouth. So much was on the tape they determined it was through direct contact (Kolar's book)
@@wildthing3455 Maybe at some point in years past but I can not imagine taking a tour group down to the basement to climb over piles of junk and to look at a broken, cobweb encrusted window, a nonfunctional toilet and messy shelves crammed full of...misceleanous crap. There was nothing "Christmas tour" worthy about that cluttered basement.
You know how when you have guests coming how you rush around picking things up, tidying the house and put extraneous clutter into a back bedroom or a closet because you want your house to look nice for your guests....well that entire basement was Patsy's "back bedroom" or "junk closet".
Thank you for your valuable insights, as always. I know this episode was focused on the garotte, but there still is the -small- huge matter of the “ransom” note. The note seems so personal (its grudge-like in tone, the mention of financial details that only someone familiar with JR would know, etc) and yet the Ramseys keep insisting it was a complete stranger. I find that incredibly odd … and troubling.
If the suspect was stalking JB and casing the house, then they could definitely pick up information about the victim and the victim’s family to include in the note.
There is also cobwebs on the window that apparently an intruder climbed in and out. So Chris reckons if the police had initially checked the room where the body was found, they would have caught the perpetrator...I find this very strange ?
There were fresh tracks by the window the basement window had a "well" and there were bootprints to a boot tht the brand WASNT owned by anybody in the home
Yeah! Why would Boulder just stash it all away to gather dust? It rather seems to me as if they were trying to hide something other than their ignorance of police procedurals. It ticks me off.
I agree. My comment in live chat initially was not what I was trying to convey- I believe the excuse that the touch DNA on clothing was from manufacturing is absurd. I think it would be much more likely that it would be from the assailant, than someone who may have packaged the clothing long before this night. Either way, why wasn’t it thoroughly collected and tested? I cannot understand why they don’t test that DNA, DNA from garrote, and recollect DNA from some of the suspects, if possible. Since the handling of this case was so sloppy from the beginning, it’s difficult to trust that many of these things were actually done properly.
You guys are head and shoulders above any other crime broadcast out there. Professional and informative. Love Dr. Brucato’s book- my kid is getting a PhD in clinical psych and devoured it- now there’s talk of a post doc in forensic psychology. I’m gonna blame Gary if I have another year of helping pay the rent…. 😂
Who would send their children down to a basement playroom with a broken window, glass and leaves on the floor and junk everywhere. John has said that he and Burke went downstairs to put together a new toy car garage (or something like that) after he had put JonBenet to bed and Patsy went to sleep. Look at the pictures of that dirty, cluttered basement, is that creepy place the part of your home where you would expect your children to play? It was basically a hoarded storage room with hazards everywhere - even an old elevator with a door that wouldn't open from the inside.
@@Iluvpaws_1 A broken window or door? Nope. Those get fixed ASAP and not just to keep criminals out. I don't want animals, bugs or rain finding a way into my house, either. Plus, the draft during the winter must have been terrible. That had to have been so cold down there.
@ The basement was messy so the parents did it. 🤔 Well good on you for never procrastinating. the basement had eight different rooms-were they all dirty and cluttered?
@@Iluvpaws_1 Even if someone doesn't fix a broken window right away they at least put a plastic, a board or something over it to prevent, animals, insects, rain, melting snow, debris and the frigid cold air from entering their living space. I've never known anyone to break a window in their own home and just forget to fix it. John even left glass and leaves on the floor - who does that? No - that basement was a mess with hazards all over the place. I have never seen a picture of a nice area for the kids to play or an area for them to even sit. I just thought it was interesting that John said he took Burke down there to put together one of his new Christmas toys. Wasn't the intruder supposedly in the house at that point?
Gary Aliva called a friend and said he’d just killed a little girl in Boulder on the night she died before she was found or it reported by the news. He lived a mile from her - ( If I’m remembering these details correctly). He’s certainly a very creepy, sadistic p-phile. I understand that he’s been ruled out and I don’t know why.
Also, for two days before Xmas patsy every year had an open to the community to come tour their house to see all the Christmas decor throughout their house. That’s a lot of strangers touring every inch of your house for 2 days!!! They had just had that 2 day community tour as well!!!
For all the lecturing, posturing and threatening about viewer decorum and appropriateness, I'm not sure why we then had to spend hours listening to McDonough relentlessly hammer the nickname "kooky eyes" for one of the detectives on scene. If he believes this one detective bears the fault, call that out and use her name. But spare us the derisive nastiness. McDonough is the rudest person in this conversation.
Finally I find a comment that makes me feel I am not the only one thinking this. I mean Linda Arndt gave quite the interview.......but calling her "kooky eyes" is a bit much and beyond unprofessional. I need xanax and wine after this video...........unreal!
But thats the point, she is extremely unprofessional and responsible for the lack of justice in this case and any crimes against further victims. She deserves more than being called kooky eyes and should never have been put in that position to serve the victim, family and public. She deserves no professional respect.
Isn't this exactly how the vile left have acted and spoken for 8 years? Mocking anyone who comes forward with anything resembling the truth. They are mocking her because she has named the most obvious predator.

The wierd thing is that many people will be mad at you for believing that the family is innocent because the crime was so awful. What does that have to do with it? The crime was awful and therefore it is vital to get the RIGHT person.
@@juliefraser8136 or persons
Absolutely.. Too many things point to the family . I mean, why did t the person who killed her take her away, unless they were trying to set the Ramsey's up, look at the letter? So much makes no sense.. But it must feel so fkd up if their innocent & having the finger pointed at them for ever ?

Hardly
He may have been in the basement and house before and several times before the night of the killing.
@@pamulas4877 exactly!
Exactly. Doesn't fit any profile. He was in the house ALL that time and left no trace? No, sorry.
Not very respectful when Chris used "kooky eyes" multiple times to describe the first detective.
Exactly my thoughts 🍻
Google toggle rope. Also, read the medical examiner's report. It says that she did not have neck injuries consistent with the rope being used in it's typical manner. The tape was applied to her mouth post mortem etc. Do more research.

DNA proved it was not the Ramseys.

He was in the house for hours before,
@@traceonthecase Russell Williams did not spend hours exploring peoples' houses, learning where they kept torches, batteries, blankets, pen and paper, duct tape and paintbrushes. He crept into women's houses, at night, and then began raping and killing them. And he may have only started doing the latter because he was seen by a woman (he claims), while he was hiding in the basement. He also didn't pen ransom notes in the handwriting of the women living there.
The intruder theory is ridiculous.

@@Julia3wcd or train tracks…..
Lou Smit got too friendly with John and Patsy. It clouded his judgment.
Somebody explain how that cord tied to a stick is a garrote. If you twist the stick repeatedly, nothing happens other than knotting in the cord. No one I know of has addressed this. The loop has to go around the stick. Not that I use these, I just know the mechanics of it.

My theory has always been from day 1, never the Ramseys, but that the offender knew the family, maybe even a relative of one of John's employees OR had been around the dance/pageant arena, knew they were going out Christmas night, had time to get in and WAIT, and wrote the note BEFORE they got home, he had all the time in the world. Laid in wait.
Sure pal
Yea But then what did he do with the note? lol.... The note was found at the bottom of the stairs, where the Ramseys walked down from their master bedroom... It couldn't have been before, and it's not like he walked around with it... There were quotes in that ransom note that had relationships to the movie posters and books in the house... More fingers point at the Ramseys than an intruder man, they just do.
You said the cop should have searched every inch of the house. True. But why didn’t John? Why didn’t John look though every room (including the wine cellar) before calling the police?
He could have been in shock. Police have been trained to a job and they failed
I think he already knew where JBR was, but wanted her to be "found" by someone else.
I heard they were involved.
Happy to see Gary! And great new opener! 💕
It's important to remember that the autopsy said that fruit or vegetable matter that may represent pineapple was found in her system.

Patsy tied the knots, as fibres from her red jumper were found on them. She also wrote the ransom note. And killed JB.
No kidnapper would ask for small amount of $118,000. Why $118,000 instead of $200,000 which is a whole number. How does the ransome note square with your theory?
it doesn't, it squares with one of the Ramsey's being involved!!
@USArmy91222 agreed
The ransom note shows that whoever wrote it hates John.

She was cleared by hand writing experts. God, the misinformation people spew in this case is unbelievable
@@ericj3331 Clearly they haven't followed this case from beginning. The handwriting expert cleared Patsy. The original DNA tests cleared the entire family. The police chief kept those results quiet for a while.
@mrscch1057 no it doesn't
In case you may not know 2 suspects in case handwriting matched like Patsy. Ask your self 1 simple question. Would you use John's bonus amount as ransom an movie quotes from posters in her basement walls and think no one would notice. Who incriminates themselves trying to cover up a crime. I've never Heard of that
You missed the whole program's purpose, which is to focus on the weapon used.
Look into the connection of Burke Ramsey and his best friend Doug Stine. Things start to open up from there…..
I've never heard of Doug Stine.
@@MsVertinskayai agree
What about that ransom note? How did they get into the house? The garrot was way beyond what the parents would do. I can't imagine the Mom or Dad doing this unless trying to cover for each other or Burke. How has Burke never let it slip. So many questions.

I want to Thank You Chris for coming right out and defending young Burke Ramsey and the parents. It has always upset me that this young boy was accused and even considered a suspect in this torturous death of his sister. Thumbs up !!!
The suspect had no fear of the parents was not startled at all after-all committing a crime moving freely around had time to write a random letter and then goes back downstairs to the window and climbs out and puts the roof back to 😮
And returns the pad and pen to its original place!

John has a lot of contradictory actions and words for being such an intelligent business founder and CEO.
Both John and Detective Arndt moved the body.
Many people are sadistic and cover it well. Even those close to them would be shocked, and of disbelief to learn that about that person.
A very cruel person may get elaborate w/ a "ransom" note to give the family hope she's alive, only to leave her deceased in their own house, under their nose, for them to be crushed by later when they find her.
Just a thought I had.

What’s so frustrating about JonBenet and Amy cases is why have they not DNA tested the discussed items? Cigarette butts, and stick? Why?
