- Join me on this uk winter camping trip where I setup my hammock and tarp between the trees and we attempt to forge a knife in the woods by building a charcoal pit, and heating the coals up with bellows. Then forging the knife on a mini anvil which we secured to a log!

Bushcraft, craftsmanship, and pizza: I want ALL my outdoor adventures to be like this!
As a blacksmith and fan of the outdoors myself this video brings me joy. Although I tend to use a propane forge for most of my work it's nice to use charcoal every now and then. There's something kinda primitive and primal about it, feels like a connection to blacksmiths of the past. The smoke, the heat, the smell, the grime. Brilliant.
Soon 👌
Great to see someone else who likes to take a 50 lb anvil with them while camping! It's just _not_ the same without one!
I adore that part where you put some mellow music for the slowmo footage and narrated it. Beautiful stuff. Hope to see more similar content in the future. Cheers!
Great production there, indeed!
This video did me a ton of good. Thank you all for a bit of that delicious, rustic, cozy feel.
Also, rest in peace, lovely bellows...
My rotator cuff was screaming in sympathy watching all that hammering.
Forging a knive in the woods during a nice camp night, is just awesome! And apparently you have the exact same hammock setup as me. Only difference is, is that my underquilt is brown. I also recommend tree huggers with multiple loops and whoopie slings.
As a bushcrafter and blacksmith this video was perfect. Keep up the good work with these amazing ideas. i think that every bushcraft camp should have a little blacksmith work area for crafting small usefull things.
Please can we have a part 2 to see the knife finished.
Absolutely loved everything about this episode!
Subscriber from Venice here. Everything cooked on fire in the woods is great guys. Your pizza looks great 💪
My pizza has been given the stamp of approval by a real Italian! My day is made!! 😂
@@ThornWoodForge Hey, give me a slice before to take the badge 🤣
Great video guys!!! As a person of German AND Italian decent...I approve your bushcraft pizza!!! Lol! But in all seriousness they looked absolutely amazing!!!! The knife looks like it's going to be awesome!!!
Love the uuni ovens. Using one in the woods is great commitment!
Well done!! Sweet knife, great pizza and I love the wildlife that just runs through the camp!!
Don't worry, Italian here and I love your cooking outdoor. I tried making pizza some years ago in a improvised hoven while outdoor and the result was pretty bad
That's cool don't know nobody wot can do that so cool 😎
That is quite clever. Just a 'hole in the ground' and some bellows.
The cooking is fine - I still make the same fajitas you made in the first video I watched. Mushrooms and capsicum chicken fajitas made in the polish lavu tent. You got an instant subscribe from that one!
Just something enchanting about forests in the UK. Love your content.
Blacksmithing, camping, and cooking in one!? What a video!!
Fascinating process! Thanks for keeping it simple & beautiful!❤
It would be great to see that knife all finished. Maybe even put it up for auction as a "one off" Great video and content as always. /cheers👍
Great video full of extremely talented guys , cheers mate
That pizza sure looked delicious, nice pizza oven. Forging in the dark looked so neat, great job guys, very awesome video. 👍🏻❤️
From Italy : great content! Hammering in the woods look very interesting and about pizza... Great job! Don't worry about Italians, they have to many issues about food (even if until 100 years ago pizza belonged only to specific parts of the southern part of peninsula)
Fantastic night out! Top job, Mike and co :D
Very cool!
Love the petramax pan got the same one
I recommend getting on of those pizza ovens. I have one and I make pizza's all year and friends and family love coming over for pizza parties.
A novel and thoroughly entertaining video.
I look forward to seeing the knife when it's completed.
I wanna see that knife all finished in a video or 2 or however long it would take him to finish it completely that looked pretty stinkin good
Cool video, enjoyed this episode! Pizza in the wild!
Hello from a fellow outdoor UA-camr!!! I really enjoyed watching this!!
Awesome video Mike !
Thoroughly enjoyed every minute !
I like this type of video better than others that you came out with... Maybe a little longer.... That is just my opinion... Thank all you guys for the video I will check his knife videos out........ JJ....😊 USA...
Something different and very interesting Mike. I enjoyed that very much.

😂 lol just noticed that aswell
They seem to be getting worse 😂UA-cam needs to sort that out
@@TAOutdoorsThey are probably about to boost your channel. I wouldn't mess with it
Beep bop boop 🤖
Very nice videos, and something different to show to us. beautiful to watch a knife being forged.
Could you show us the end result in a different video?
Also nice to see some sourdough bread which predates the use of yeast. And lovely pizzas
Another great video Mike. Well done guys!
Tenho saudades dos seus primeiros videos de Construções no mato!
Great video!
Amazing..👍
NICE I found your channel from Alec Steele back when you made a knife and now you are making one in the woods !! ❤
nicely done guys !!!!!!
Is that smithing not forging?
next time you should use a battery powered airbed pump for max efficiency to blow air in the fire
A ta axe is next for me
I'd like more content like this. Mixed with your normal stuff ❤
Great video, great stuff
Have a great day
you should auction off that knife in particular. Would be so cool to have a knife you literally saw being forged in the woods
Fantastic & interesting video Mike 👍👍.
cheers buddy thanks for sharing
Super cool.
Thats a really great outdoor project 😊
Great video mate
Always enjoy watching your videos TA...Just a shame you don't reply to questions i want to know about 😞
I think you guys should do a series of campfire forged knives, make the handle out of a piece of the wood the campfire was fed.
Something i learnt last year was you can make steel yellow hot just by hitting it. It's all to do with putting energy into it quicker than it looses it, or it very hard work. 🥴
It was a blessing to watching this video 👌🔥🤘🍻💯
First 10 seconds i see fire and meh brain likes it
Very cool episode!
Really enjoyed watching looked an epic camp with pizza and knife making
Great video
i love your content man so jealous
Well if you will use bellows like my granny used to own!
Yes keep on posting on daily base ..guess most of us don't watch tv any more anyway

I need a ta axe
3 brits in the woods, bushcraft edition 😆
Carried away
👍
👍👍👍good video
Can you please tell me what hammock you used
It would be cool to see you make a bear proof camp/fort where it is surrounded with sharp log fences pointing outside the camp to scare the bears or other predators.
The UK doesn't, officially, have any predators. Big cats used to be kept as pets and a few were believed to have escaped. To the best of my knowledge, there has never been an attack by such a creature. 😊
@@keithfreeman7725 I am aware of that. I am just referring to general situation just for educational purpose. Its just cool to see it made.
@@johndc7446 Sorry, thought you may be an American and have the real scary creatures to deal with.
@@keithfreeman7725 Im from USA and I appreciate your information.
What axe were you using in this video? I'm looking for a new one to replace the one that was stolen out of my truck.
Where did you you get the Rolers you span your tarp with?
Hello what is the name 7:30 ?
where can I get that pizza oven pls
It's an Ooni Karu 12!
@@ThornWoodForge cheers buddy
😁👍🏼
first to like and comment which is a first
cool --
It's not surprising that you set fire to your bellows. You had the inlet hole pressed against the floor so the air was being pulled back in directly from the fire instead of through the inlet 😂🤣
Pizza Oven link?
Imagine forgetting your knife so you just forge one. Simple as that
Did he say "Kittelfjäll"?
I did! Kittelfjäll, Västerbotten County (might have pronounced it wrong)
🖐😎👍
Are british foxes as bothering as italians ones? I swear I cannot camp in peace with them around... Once they stole my left boot and my beanie just for chewing up onto something 😅 P.s. Is that a Superlight Jungle Hammock or a Frontline one?
👍👍

Sam is an old friend from home and seeing him on this channel has been very surreal yet rather heartwarming for me. Great content and I'm loving the collaborations between yourself and Thornwood Forge, hopefully plenty more to come...!
Ok got a stinking cold so my brain might not be fully funtional but i cant find the pizza recipe
Dough, tomato paste with herbs, a few bits of protein on top, mozzarella chunks and parmesan grated over. Bung in the pizza oven. 😊
Good lord its not 1776 use a lighter !
Lighters are cheating in bushcraft. Only to be used in an emergency.
Much more effort needed to use a bow drill.... That's a hard won skill. 😊
Convinced I got smoke in my eye 3 mins in
Don't know why, but I can never take seriously someone that is trying to teach bushcraft, when they wear a smartwatch!
Mm chaga tea!
