After ~250 miles, tonight I just rode my Pint-X for the first time with the fender off. I'll be putting it back on... With it off, it throws a lot of debris up around your ankles, footpads, and can get in your shoes, etc and I was only on a praved trail mostly. I don't think there's any argument, it looks better with it off. Best of both worlds may be quarter/cabrio fenders. The flight fin fenders is also pretty good for that and you can easily snap the full fender in.
I just went on my first ride tonight without the fender. I think it looks better when with the fender just bc you can’t see the actual wheel so in my opinion it gives more of a floating look. Leaves more to the imagination.
My pint showed up a week before my fender, so I got used to the board without it and in fact haven’t tried the finder yet. I’ve done a lot of off road and have felt nothing kicking up on my ankles.
On the first day I lost my balance and was about to fall forward so naturally lifted the rear foot and my pint just took off with my front foot still on it and the wheel burned a nice wound on my ankle. Immediately installed the fender after that. Still have a scab on the ankle after 3,5 weeks.
I'm late to this party, but FENDER!!! After you ride over any water or any other debris once, you will wish you had the fender on. My pint arrived before the fender when I got mine last year and the first ride out, I rode over some water on the sidewalk from sprinkler run-off and by the end of my ride my legs were soaked and muddy. Never again!
Got my XR on Christmas. Live in Maine. Still haven't gotten a fender haha I love the quiet ride, dirt be damned. I am gonna grab a fender, but I've been in no hurry at all. Enjoyed the video! Great looking area you've got to ride!
Nice video 👍🏻 I was trying to see the difference between fender and half fender and your video came up. I do agree with the dog poop part as I ran over a fresh one last night 😂 well… when I took my fender off to clean, honestly didn’t see anything under the arch but some on the rim, so it looks ok to me with no fender at this moment but not sure about the water/any liquid part. Still thinking about get a pair of half fender now 🤔
I like the look of the exposed wheel on the XR, but I think the pint looks weird without a fender. Once you take the fender off the tiny size of the pint tire becomes way more obvious and it kinda looks like a toy next to the XR. Regardless of looks, fenders are VERY useful, especially when it's wet.
I've only had my OW since the day before xmas and rode it around on the wet ground full of conifer debris after a rain and it flung a buttload of wet tree sheddings all up my front leg. I want to get/make some of those semi-fenders that are just little partials between your feet and the wheel without covering the top. I saw a couple neato ones out there, I'll have to start investigating all the 3rd party OW Pint accessories out there and get some ideas. Any suggestions ?
I felt the same way about not wanting to look like a chump, having to stop when crossing people on the sidewalk. 25 miles into my new pint I jump off a curb like I'd done a dozen times before, and the nose digs straight down and I eat shit. Now I'm nursing a broken elbow, and bruises all along the left side of my body. Next time I'll be a chump.
😂 that closing line you wrote had be dying 😂 The odd part is I haven't got my one wheel yet. I'm just doing research but I'll tell you this. I'm laying in bed with a fraction elbow right now 😂😂😂 It sucks
A huge pregnant Doberman being walked by an air head almost bit me. I was on the bike lane they were on the sidewalk I had to jump off and almost got hit by a car, the fender saved my ass and the dog bit the fender and not the wheel. It was my second time riding my XR and only had 2 miles on it.
I think the reason they don't come stock is to help keep the price down and increase their margin on accessories. Same thing with the charge port cover. Especially for the pint, listing it at 950 is much more marketable than its real cost of 1150 or so.
Plug cover should definitely come stock!!! It's 3$!!! Lololol. I use a piece of duct tape (thanks Jimmy Chang) and I never bought a fender because if you needed it to ride it would come with it, and I'm cheap.
You mentioned "if your foot slips, and you slam into that wheel..." if your foot slips, the wheel would be the last of your worries because the pavement is substantially more punishing.
I have ridden about 370 miles on my Onewheel with a fender. I rented a Onewheel from Suprents.com, and it came without a fender. It was the first time I rode a Onewheel in the Mission profile without a fender, and it really does make a difference. It was such a completely different ride in terms of maneuverability and carviness I may never ride with a fender again.

Solid. Wet surfaces will definitely spray up quite a bit though!

Yea that happens lol
same thing happened to me, the day i got my onewheel scab on my ankle as well lol
Great vid!👌 Enjoyed commentary. I myself more than often ride without the fender. I only slap the fender on when it's wet outside. Float on!🤙
Yeaaa buddy
Fender all the way. Keep the road/trail debris off me. The Float Fender 2 is way quiet too...
I’m excited to pick up the new magnetized one from craft and ride when it comes out

The flight fender by flightfins is perfect for no fender but still gives something between your foot and tire. My alltime favorite way to ride
Got my Onewheel today, waiting on the fender, did 5 miles, and look forward to seeing the difference a fender makes.
Josh Brown enjoy! The tinkering is half the fun

Float life and craft and ride are the places
are there any one wheel ride groups on long Island... I just purchased mine and would love to have ppl to ride with... i am in western suffolk as well
Oh cool. I don’t know I haven’t found one yet!
I know I’m late but I’m also in Long Island. Stony Brook :)
Awesome!
5:14 noice catch
Personally I love the look of the slick tire, pint and xr. A Hoosier tire without a fender looks really good.
V A totally agree. I just don’t want my foot getting stuck in there. I do enjoy rolling around and the looks I get with the fender off

Ouch! Heal up fast

It sucks
Flight fins work pretty good too block or lock feet in.
I bought my pint used. First thing i did was rip the fender off lol.
Get it

Dick Blunoff that’s a wild story
Another fellow Long Islander! 🤙 good video!
Awesome where are you based?
@@SuperCleary im from Valley Stream. Looking to get a Pint in the next week or so.
@@wanderson45666 that’s funny I grew up in valley stream. Enjoy your pint!
The C&R magnetic fender solves this dilemma, the only thing it does it prevent your socks getting wet
Check out my latest video! I did just that
You mean “WACK” that fender off ahah
For sure
Plz do a fender delete vs without a delete
I wouldn’t ever go without at least the delete in. It has a cover that protects some of the internals from gunk
SuperClearyPhoto true
Wdym performance offects on ur skin??? Effect
Been there mam times.
Always talk about floating there.
It’s great
What shoes are you wearing?
Reebok crossfit NANO 9 have same :)
Hands down... grab yourself a magnetic fender for only 25 bucks more
Always use a fender, they should come with a fender stock. There is no advantage of riding without one.
Jason Bailey other than style. I have to agree

joe i can’t agree more about the plug. That’s a no brainer even if they charge an extra $5 for it with a bundle of some sort.
@@SuperCleary Me too! I like the no fender look, but everything from safety and dirt, I got mine on!
HOLY SHIT I RIDE HERE ALL THE TIME
Awesome! I just got a ride there last night.
no :D . . you use same crossfit shoes like me :D
Oh yeaaaaa
@@SuperCleary and i see assalaut bike too :)CF fan ?
No fender
Why are u at a campus???
Old spooky hospital grounds
You mentioned "if your foot slips, and you slam into that wheel..." if your foot slips, the wheel would be the last of your worries because the pavement is substantially more punishing.
Sorry I just mean my front foot slips back and uses the fender as a backboard. Not foot slipping off the board.
@@SuperCleary Haha no worries, brother. No need to apologize. That was a concern of mine as well (foot rubbing tire).
lol bruh pants exist
only in your mind

If you were renting it’s possible it was just because the tire pressure was different. The fender doesn’t really have any impact beyond sound and dust
