For all of my life, I have been a University of Utah guy... Both of my parents and all of my siblings, including myself, graduated from the University of Utah. I met my wife at the University of Utah's Institute of Religion. I'm actively involved with the Utah Alumni Association, for example. But I must admit that there's been something special about BYU that has been growing on me more and more in recent years. With President Reece's enthusiasm and optimism, along with a number of other great events, productions, and resources that that have come out of BYU, even I must confess that I now want to somehow be adopted into the BYU family. There's a lot of good going on down there, friends.
“Believing your confession to be real, and your repentance genuine, I shall be happy once again to give you the right hand of fellowship, and rejoice over the returning prodigal. . . . “‘Come on, dear brother, since the war is past, / For friends at first, are friends again at last.’” 😉
Rivalries aside there's plenty of room for both the U and the Y to bring goodness to the world. I do appreciate the extra emphasis on spiritually and the unique mission of BYU.
Tears are streaming down my cheeks listening to your words President Reece. BYU is so blessed to have you at this pivotal time. The future is indeed bright. Thank you❤️
Thank you, President Reese. I can attest to the truthfulness of your words. Back in 2013, I dropped out of BYU because I thought I didnt belong in higher education. However, I turned my life, and mind, back over to God and today, I am halfway through my graduate studies, with plans to begin a PhD program within the next two years. I know God loves underdogs, because I know God loves me.
Thank you soo much.. last year I read book called Your Life Your Game by Keezano. This book truly changed my life..lt beautifully shows how connecting with God and building meaningful relationships can lead to spiritual growth and success in both your personal and professional life. A must-read, hallelujah🙌🏼
Many decades ago, when I was just a lass, I was a University of Utah “fan”, or UTEP, or whatever team was playing against the Cougars but, mostly the U. Everyone else in my family preferred the Y, so I figured SOMEONE needed to root for the U! My mom said that I always supported the underdog. This was especially important since the U seemed to lose every single time. Go Cougars! 💙
