Love this video . I am leaning power vision and the dyno . I would love to see a video about tuning ignition on the dyno . I’ll look through your videos to see if you have covered it yet ! Thankyou for sharing !
Way back I had a '69 Z/28 that I could not leave alone. Sunoco 260 and rev to 8000 RPM, but ignition timing controlled by a single set of points. Figuring out that running 44 degrees of advance was a bit too much took me a few connecting rods and blocks and tows home.
Boy when you brought up the fuel mixture based on fuel, what a job it was in the 60's with the little import cars. There was so many complaints at dealerships about carb adjustments and timing. It was from the customers changing gas station brands. -- Shell was awful, but once we figured it out we were able to clear it up with customers. The majority of issues disappeared.
What is amazing to me that if you rotate the engine over, and put the piston at say 12Deg ATDC, you will think the engine is still on TDC. If you could find a way to make peak cylinder pressure at say 30Deg ATDC could you imagine the power you could gain. That is one reason Nitro makes such crazy power.
Spark knock doesn't occur after TDC it starts before TDC which is why it kills power so much that it's release of heat does negative work that tries to reverse crank rotation and the heat of combustion does very little work...
hey george, you are a smart guy. WHY are you including pre ignition with detonation? When was the last time you built an engine and left a sharp edge etc in the chamber or on the piston?? As we all know, pre ignition is caused by a sharp edge etc glowing red that ignites the mixture BEFORE the sparkplug does. When was the last time you saw a race engine, built by a professional fail due to pre ignition?/?
Can't even title a video properly. Learn how to use a comma properly.. and Ping, spark knock, pre ignition or detonation, come from, heat, ...bla bla...it should be comes from not come from.
George I see you’ve got a following that is dedicated to nit-picking, fault-finding and attempting to place themselves on a level of knowledge that perhaps they haven’t achieved!

Thanks for the explanation . I do rely on the spark knock detection device for this .
VP C16 can be your friend, LOL!
Have a blessed Sunday George!
Amazing tech data George 👍

Good video 👋👋

Love this.😎
"detonation" can't exit, it's knock or pre ignition... One is before the spark, one is after

Thank heavens he didn’t say “pre-detonation “ like you hear said by so many doofuses on YT.

Thanks! Sometimes being in a hurry to post something is not the best idea.
You’re on the wrong page! 🤡

When you know better, do better. Thank you sir 🫡
