Wow it looks awesome, in the UK we call them suicide shift 🤣 I've just got a 2008 sporty after years of sport then adventure bikes. Today is the first full day of ownership so let's see how it goes. I wish we had your weather over here too, it's pissing down here today ☹️
Absolutely man! Once you take it on the road two or three times you’re good to go. Honestly prefer the jockey setup now. I don’t have a front brake on this bike though so hills are a bit of a challenge but I’m so used to it by now that it really doesn’t matter too awful much.
@@mattmakesnoise, Oh, okay. Why'd you get rid of the most important brake? Also, I was just thinking, about an idea that I had years ago. I bet you could repurpose that lever, and make an emergency brake system, for parking on hills. Whoever could figure that out would be pretty smart.
@@RayfordRaySiegel Ah, the age old front brake argument hahah. Just giving you guff man! I ain’t against one by any means, just ain’t for me. Been riding choppers with only a rear brake for so long it feels unnatural to have a front brake almost. For me at least, when it’s there, I almost feel like I’m going to sling myself over the bars when I use it. For jockey shift, I just hold the clutch open a bit on hills and it does the trick. Interesting idea about the emergency brake. I’d definitely like to see it one day!
@@mattmakesnoise, I know, with the close encounters of the cage kind, that I probably wouldn't have made it. I just hope you never have a problem. I have heard of people combining the rear and front into the rear brake That might help you out, while keeping the look, along with not grabbing a lever. I thought it was bad on the clutch, to keep it open, a little. Does that give you any problems, after a while? Yeah. That would be cool.
It’s held on by a little alan bolt on the side so you can take it off if you wanted. The shifter itself isn’t threaded on the end though unfortunately.
Rad idea to use a bearing like that. 100% stealing that. I was gonna drill a hole through the shifter at 2 sections and connect the top bolt to the battery box with brackets, and connect the bottom bolt to the linkages... would've worked but this is far cleaner. (i tried not to steal designs before fabbing my piece of shit up)
Dude, your video kicks ass! Installing my kit from Led Sled and your video is what they should post for instructions. Thanks!
YES! I needed to find and see this install thanks man 👍🏼
Great Vid. Now you are officially Mr. Cool Daddy! Keep your creative side at full throttle!!!!!!
Gear puller works to get the shift linkage off too
Great video man. Gonna be making my own kit based on this one 😅 thanks for the much needed info
Hell yeah! Good luck with it!
They coming out with a new jockey shifter for mid controls
I’d be interested in seeing that when they put it out.

Have you gotten used to it yet? I’m hoping to build a sporty this year and put a jockey shift on it curious as to the learning curve with them.

@@mattmakesnoise hell yea can’t wait to see what else you build

eBay.
Is that a stock frame what kinda of lowering brackets u have on it
Stock frame. Got 10 inch struts on it, center to center.
Your bars are pretty clean. Where is your master cylinder reservoir?
I only have a rear brake so I just have the reservoir down on the belt cover.

Nice garage,whats the sq footage?
Appreciate it! It’s about 20’x24’. 480 sq.ft.
Can you change the knob on the shifter?
It’s held on by a little alan bolt on the side so you can take it off if you wanted. The shifter itself isn’t threaded on the end though unfortunately.
