    60yrs old and hitting an 8 iron 200 yards is pretty amazing, I need to up my game I'm already at 51yrs old. Good work

      You are 51 yrs young!
      Brian is tall (196 cm) and now his swing motion is better timed. About 170 yd to 200 yd in less than 30 min by speeding up the backswing mainly. ^_^

    Thank you for this. It has helped me a lot. Went to the place where I practice using a launch monitor and screen yesterday after watching this and worked on the same thing, swinging back and forth before setting up at the ball, then making the backswing start fast which promotes a full turn of the shoulders and a complete backswing. Just as you told Brian, that leads to a better downswing almost automatically without thinking and without relying on the arms. I'm 83, a lot older than Brian. My 7 iron, a forged blade with 34 degree loft, used to be my 150 club 25 years ago, then got progressively shorter with age. In 2121 I did a Trackman session that produced club speed of 74.6-74.8 and best carries from 133-137. But recently I have been struggling and recorded carries ranging from 123-128. Very frustrating. However, putting your technique into practice for the very first time yesterday, I was able to get my carry distances back up to an average of 129, with 5 results out of 10 ranging from 130 to 135. This makes me very optimistic that with further practice of your technique I will be able to average 135 carry. Those 10 yards can make a huge difference in approaches on par 4s. So again, thank you, thank you, thank you.

      Bravo! Keep up your hard work!
      Contrary to common beliefs, fast BS creates miracles as long as you can manage the active/smooth deceleration well towards the end of BS. The sense of actively slowing down the BS motion also provides better direction control. ^_^

    This guy must be or have been a professional athlete. He is tall and wide shouldered, and at 60 he looks like 30. Most PGA pros don’t hit an 8 iron 200 yards. But excellent instruction video. Will work on exactly this at my next practice. Thank you.

      He played college golf but had 25+ year golf break. He is back to golf for less than a year but already has a + handicap. ^_^

    What's your ball position for 8-iron Dr.Kwon? In some teachings they told us to place it at the shirt logo on the left chest for all clubs off the ground to promote good shift toward the target, but if I do that I feel like I can't stay inside the cone-shaped space you're talking about or my low point will be behind the ball.
    Where should the low point be in relation to the body if we're correctly doing your swing pattern?
    Also, should ball position be the same for all clubs hitting off the ground?

      I don't have a strong opinion of my own on ball position. (Have not paid much attention to it, to be exact.)

      낮은 훅이 자주 나면 그 원인이 스윙평면의 방향에 있을 가능성이 큽니다. 심하게 인투아웃으로 스윙할 때 이런 현상이 잘 생깁니다. Flat한 백스윙으로 손의 위치가 낮으면, 다운스윙 때 저절로 stuck elbow 현상이 생기고 스윙평면이 심하게 인투아웃으로 형성되지요.
      그리고 몸과 클럽이 통으로 회전할 때도 훅이 잘 발생합니다.
      스윙평면의 방향이 문제인 경우는 백스윙을 좀더 steep하게 하고 다운스윙 때는 몸을 왼쪽으로 좀 더 돌린다는 생각으로 접근하면 방향이 좀더 타겟 방향으로 보정되겠지요.

      몸과 클럽은 통으로 도는 경향이 있습니다.
      몸과 팔을 좀 분리시키는 느낌을 찾아봐야겠네요.

    What is the golfer looking at. It looks like a live view changing to a replay of their swing (as projected onto the screen we can see?). Is it a tv screen?

      In front of the golfer? It is a KGolf kiosk displaying additional info and various controls. I used the video playback control.

      Haha, we've had this simulator for a while. I am going to use this more often from now on when I see fit.

      @@drkwongolf Now another great reason coming back to see Dr Kwon! Dr Kwon, now I started to understand my jerky movement. When I tried to have active/fast backswing with trail leg, either my upper body kicks in or my right leg moved a lot before my upper body responses. Does that mean I should practice with slower backswing speed to allow my lower body and upper to sync before gradually increase backswing speed?
