MV Sealth (May 4th, 2024)

Washington State Ferries is the largest ferry system in the United States, operating twenty-one vessels in the Puget Sound and San Juan Islands. All together, the vessels, ranging in size from 64-car ferries to 202-car ferries, carry 18.2 million riders per year.
The MV Sealth, the vessel featured in this video, is an Issaquah class ferry capable of holding 90 cars and 1200 passengers. She is 328'' 0" in length, 78' 8" wide, and has a 16' 6" draft. The Sealth has two GE 7 FDM-12 Diesel engines that together generate 5000 horsepower. She can travel at 16 Knots. The name Sealth comes from the Chief of the Duwamish and Suquamish tribes who befriended early settlers in the 1850-60's and signed the Point Elliot Treaty of 1855.
The Sealth was designed and built in 1982 by Marine Power and Equipment in Seattle, WA. She started her career on the Seattle/Bremerton run where she more or less remained until the turn of the century. Since then, the Sealth has primarily worked on the Fauntleroy/Vashon/Southworth and Anacortes/San Juan Islands runs. The Sealth is now 42 years old. As the median aged vessel of the fleet, she is both the tenth oldest vessel and the tenth newest vessel.
In this video, the Sealth is seen on the 9:30 a.m. sailing from Anacortes to Friday Harbor and the 11:05 a.m. sailing from Friday Harbor to Anacortes. Appearances by the MV Tillikum, MV Yakima, MV Puyallup, and MV Samish are included.

very fun ferry ride i went on this ferry ride in april 14 this year and we went on this exact same time ferry that left anacortes but it was 50 minutes delayed
