They filmed Leap of Faith in my hometown of Plainview, Tx. The Rustwater Bengals name and logo is still on the water tower in the downtown area.

    SUCH an amazing movie.
Totally under-rated & under-appreciated. Marketing ppl screwed it all up -- played it as tho it was a Steve Martin "Wild And Crazy Guyz" piece. The Evangelicals -- who should have been the biggest audience -- thought it was going to be disrespectful, and canned it w/o ever knowing what was in it. If you've never seen it, you're missing out. Great soundtrack, too -- as you can hear here.

smartalek180 good point. It’s like they never saw him as a complete human being who is capable of conveying different personalities - just a character from an act. It’s heartbreaking when you think about it. He deserves much better than this.

I totally agree. As a Christian, I remember telling people at church how great of a movie it was. They looked at me in horror and said they never considered watching it because they thought it was mocking God. It's not! It's a critique of the con artist phony preachers. It actually contrasts that fake religion with the true faith. It's a very powerful story of redemption! I love it!

@@jessicataubert2804 the preacher was a con man that didn't have faith. The cop lost his faith. But as the boy walked to be healed by Jesus... At that moment not only the whole town, but the cop and the con man found their faith again.
I don't see how any Christian could not see the value in the message of this movie

One of my favorite scenes in my all time favorite movie.
I always thought that the guys raising the tent were locals. It gave a lot of meaning to it because i imagine that for those moments they had a lot of pride in the work they did. i remember going without, and even when you did the best you could and it still wasn't enough.... thats a hard blow-- i cant imagine having to deal with that and having to think of feeding a family. When work does finally come--- its such a relief, and one can definitely breathe easier.
This song got me through a lot, not just in faith, but also in life.
