Thanks for posting. I'm in a similar boat. I ran consistently and races for almost a decade. Got injured, got lazy and gained 50lbs. Lost 40 lbs to kick off 2023 and are getting back into races. Family training run tomorrow.
I would love to see more running content! I’m a teacher and I run 3-5 days a week for about 30-60 minutes. I never realized how right you are about how much mental strength it takes when running. I love how it clears my mind and my anxiety disappears because all I’m focusing on for that time is my running. 💪🏻
@@SelenaTrevino on another note your videos inspired me to start therapy. A few months ago I began my healing journey and it has changed my life. Thanks for all you do Selena! 🤍
I've been training for my own 5k. I've always wanted to do one but could never dedicate myself to it. I'm in week 5 of the training program now and I haven't given up yet. Very inspiring video
Hi Selena my name is Jen ! I am on a fitness journey as well and strive to lose 50 pounds. I already have been seeing results and staying motivated. I have been going on long walks during my lunch breaks and it has helped me lose a few pounds already. Just by changing my diet a little bit and exercising more Ive noticed a huge change, especially in my mood. I am going to be 30 next year and want to enter my 30s with a better version of myself, mentally and physically . Love your videos! I’ll be watching at 12!
hi jennifer, wow, can I just say you're doing amazing!!? thank you so much for sharing!! I love that you're already seeing progress and health benefits (the mood boost is also a big one for me!) I'm rooting for you to meet your fitness goals, you're already killing it! 💗
@@SelenaTrevino Thanks you are doing amazing as well! I would love to run a 5k someday too that would be the biggest accomplishment ever congrats to you !
Many runners incorporate weights to build strength, improve body composition and overall fitness health. Body building is a different discipline but not completely for aesthetics. Muscle growth, mental health and bone health are a few reasons. I’ve been running for 3 years and completed a few half marathons. Incorporating weights is a fun part of my routine.
I have never been interested in running but watching you be so passionate about movement is super inspiring. Hearing how you talk about your body is so nourishing and being able to see you having healthy goals is encouraging me to want to find a movement I actually enjoy without the main goal of losing weight. Thank you for your vulnerability and transparency 😩❤️
Congrats, Selena! All your videos are inspiring, but this one is beyond! I am from a whole other country half across the world, but it felt like I was there with you 🤗 I relate so much to all your thoughts during the race, and it’s very interesting to know more about your previous experince, so please share. Great that you are thinking about the next race, that’s a true win among other things!!
This vlog was exactly what I needed right now! I love seeing how kind you are towards yourself, even as you try to make progress in being a healthier, better version of yourself every day. I’m always so self critical that I sometimes end up not doing anything at all. I could see myself avoiding a 5K entirely rather than doing it at the pace where I’m at, but I’m going to take a note from this. This was so inspiring, thanks Selena ❤ I’m going to try to get back out there and go for my first run in over a year tomorrow
It's such a big accomplishment doing a 5k, and you shouldn't be too hard on yourself with time! It can only get better, and just enjoy that your legs are healthy to do it
Thank you for this video! I ran a marathon in 2018 and haven’t ran much since. I did a 5K 2 weeks ago and I mentally kept telling myself how I ran a 10 minute pace for 20 miles and I was struggling to keep that pace for 3 miles. I appreciate knowing that I’m not alone and that we are making strides to keep pushing forward ❤️
I just discovered your channel yesterday and literally binged watched all your videos!! The vibes are cosy, your content is motivational yet realistic, it directly puts you in the right mood😍keep up the good work
Hey girl! Loved this video!! Definitely share more of your running/ health journey w us! Of course, as long as your comfortable w it. It is so encouraging to see and it feels nice to know there’s people out there that exercise truly for the health benefits and not purely aesthetics. I ran my first everrrr 5k race earlier this year and I remember being so proud of myself for putting myself out there. So i hope no matter how fast you used to be you still feel proud of yourself for getting out there and racing again 😁 And I definitely would be down for a virtual 5k!
I definitely will!! Thank you so much for sharing how this resonated with you 🥹🫶🏽 I agree, I love following others with a similar mindset!! That’s why I love Stephanie Buttermire and Natasha Oceane 🥰 Wow that’s amazing!! You should be proud, I’m proud of you!! And we can only improve 🤪🤎
My new year's resolution this year was to go to the gym to improve my overall fitness (something I put off for a long time due a bad back, worrying I'd make it worse!). But I have to say it's helped me so much and watching your videos is only motivating me more, to continue doing this! I've decided my next year's resolution would be to start a sports class alongside the gym! Here's to our futures! Good luck! 💖
I have been here since your subscribers were just 4 digits and I am so happy that your channel is finally getting the attention it deserves!! I am happy with your gain of subscribers and the views turnout of your recent videos. You can expect me to be here for a looong time. More power to you!!
Congratulations on completing the 5K! Be proud of yourself, look at all that you do and you still committed yourself to train and run a race. I’m just trying to keep consistent in walking and moving my body.
I just found your channel! I'd like to see you do more running vlogs in the future. I can really relate to your running journey. I also was a cross country runner in high school who started running again last year. I went from training for 5ks to running in my first half marathon. It takes time, but you will improve your time and milage. Keep up the great work!
Hey! I’m a new subscriber and just wanted to say how much I’ve enjoyed your videos. I’m new to running to as well and hoping to do a 5k early next year! Love how honest and relatable you are. And congratulations on achieving your goal of 5k! Keep going! ❤
I would love more running content. I find that inspirational even though I'm twice your age so I won't be comparing my times to yours! I have noticed a significant drop in my ability and mobility since lockdown here in the UK. Like you said a 45min walk used to be a leisurely activity and now it feels like really hard work. That depresses me as I used to walk to and from work each day always hitting 14k steps. Now I am lucky if I hit 4k on a normal working day. Need to get out there and get back to where I want to be.
Congratulations on running your 5k race! No matter how you finished, you finished and that's all that matters. As a somewhat former runner, honestly just go with the flow and enjoy the run. I think I got into the racing aspect of running too early and now I have mild osteoarthritis in my knees. No more running for me. I've had physical therapy on my knees, plantar fasciitis in both feet and a collapsed tendon in my left foot, which prompted surgery to remove scar tissue. If I had to do it all again, I would have focused more on running for fun and run less miles. Definitely enjoy the run, strengthen the secondary muscles, stretch often, listen to your body and give yourself grace in the process. 🏃🏾♀🏃🏾♀🏃🏾♀
Nicely done! I’m a runner as well although no 5ks in the immediate future but this definitely made me want to do one again. I did the hot cider hustle last year and it was fun, so awesome you did it this year! Please do continue sharing your running journey, I love this kind of content! 😊
I definitely have been trying to get into jogging/running, especially to do it with my dog. He's a rescue and I found out he's mixed with all these working breeds so to make him happy and help with his triggers, having some me kind of routine exercise like jogging would really be beneficial. Obviously would help me as well so that's my push.
You are such an inspiration and love how real you are! Have you ever thought of getting those portable treadmills for desks from Amazon? That might be a great addition to getting that movement in while working if it’s something you’d be able to do! I love your content❤
I'm 57 and ran my first 5K 3 days ago, so I found this video very interesting. My partner came too and ran with me, which was nice. I'd been training for 7 weeks using a popular Couch to 5K app here in the UK. I'm a slow runner though and came in way down the field, but I did manage to run the whole 5K and achieve a PB on the day, which made me very happy. It is difficult not to compare yourself to faster runners, who make it look easy as they pass you, but I hope I can improve on my time a little on the next one. Well done on your 5K.
My goal is also to get back into running. My hips are probably the most problematic. I also ran cross country and my hips took a hit 😂 I think if I take it super slow and eventually add in strength training, stretches, I should be fine. Also something I want to do is focus on time and improvement not the scale! I need to stop comparing my teenage body to my adult one. It’s super toxic.Thank you for the inspiration 😢
yes, i love this! I agree, my hip flexors are recked, I hate foam rolling bc it's always painful, but so necessary! I will say, starting super slow and also incorporating strength/mobility workouts has helps sooo much, I don't get knee pain as often as I did before :) you got this!!
Novice runner here. I kill it on the treadmill but road races kill me. Running is a journey with milestones along the way. Keep it up girl. You’re killing it.
Yes 100%!! You’re doing amazing!! That’s why switching up terrains is so crucial to training bc different paths feels o different on the body. 🫶🏽 thank you so much!
Congrats Selena!!! I get so inspired watching your videos. ❤I have a small fitness goal to lose 20lbs I’m halfway there & confident I’ll reach it before the new year.
Love the mindset of striving for performance in a sport instead of aesthetics. I personally love indoor climbing. I do it persistently because I want to get better on it. Looking better is a bonus! Going to work out purely driven by aesthetics usually won’t be long lasting because the way you look takes a long time to improve . Your motivation will be worn out before you see the result.
Yes exactly! I agree. And not only that, even when you “achieve” whatever weight or aesthetic you’re looking for, you realize that to maintain you have to continue doing what your doing forever, and if you HATE whatever you did to get there, you will inevitable lose your “aesthetic” so I just don’t even worry about that at all anymore haha. I want to actually enjoy what I do & get all the health benefits 🥰 I’m so happy you found what movement brings you joy!
Ayyy ahh ! Selena felicidades en tu 5K!!! Super nice verte cumplir una de tus metas 🧡 inspira muchísimo y hace más apreciar tu contenido! Así que gracias por compartir tu proceso and being so kind in doing so 🧡🫶🏼
Hello! I was a runner in hs as well, I did XC and track. Did long distance running on my own while I’m in college. But I have not ran in 2yrs and I’m starting again. This motivated me to get out and run 30min today ❤️
I love this video! I would love more running incorporated in your vids, updates and favorite stretches and what motivates you, whichever races you sign up for, etc. I signed up for a 5k and ended up with pretty bad shin splints a couple weeks before the race so I would love to continue this journey with you!
Love your vlogs! It is also a busy season for me at work and I haven’t been able to commit to watching your videos lately😢. But great video! Very motivational.
I’m also getting back into running! I was living in Baltimore and running a couple miles a day, but when I moved back home to my small town in Florida I fell off. It’s been hard to run through the suburbs with no city scenery to keep my mind going. Running just two miles feels like the longest two miles of my life here lol. But I’m excited to get back to it. I’ve started with just really long morning walks and about to add back in jogging. Can’t wait to follow your journey too!
Oooh yes I used to run in the suburbs growing up ahah my fav place to run is in nature, maybe try switching up your views? That’s always fun!!🥰 and thank you for following along, so glad you’re here! I’m rooting for you!
The views looked sooo stunning omg. I loved this self growth diaries and especially the reflection at the end ❤️ I ran cross country in high school too so I totally get it, but it’s true we’re not 17-18 anymore to dedicated so much to training. We’re doing the best we can and you ACCOMPLISHED THAT GOAL❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 I am so damn proud of you
Without even knowing you in real life, I feel so proud of you! Always real and inspiring, helping a lot of us to go chase our dreams and work on improving ourselves.. Keep up the good work, girl❤️❤️ (I wish I didn’t live in Greece, so we could be friends, haha)
I've never been a runner lol I was the kid who walked the mile in middle and high school so I've been trying to just run a mile in at least 10 minutes to challenge myself. So I'm starting from scratch and I feel breathing is the hardest thing because I read tips and try to impliment them but never know if I'm doing it right so then I panic lol But so far I am making progress with my pace at least. Thanks for including your mobility workout! I feel like I never know what to do so to not overly stress my body before running. Congrats on the 5k!
Thank you for sharing Kai 🫶🏽 if you’re running, you’re a runner!! That’s the only pre-requisite, I promise!! Also a 10 min mile is super impressive & if that’s your goal, you got it! Breathing is a whole technique. What I tend to follow is inhale 4 steps, exhale 4 steps. Depending on my speed, but this is usually a good standard to follow and keep your breaths steady with your pace; and to avoid side aches!! 😅
I was on the live for a bit but I got pulled into a meeting! Thank you for your encouragement, like I mentioned my 5k is in two weeks! I know I’ll be bummed about my pace but excited for the accomplishment. I turn 30 next year and my goal is to run a half marathon before my birthday!
30 is such a milestone, how exciting!!🤎 & yesss a half marathon is an amazing achievement!! Definitely start training months before! In HS I was in this running club and we would train for a hall marathon from the beginning of the school year until the half marathon in April!! The training is long, but worth it!!🫶🏽
Here of lately I've been doing at least 3 miles(run/walking) it would be great to do 5 miles. Also really change some of my eating habits. Like pack lunch instead of grabbing food and just eat more healthy snacks.
I am so proud of you for what you want to accomplish personally and professionally. Keep up with your content it's all great and I am confident you'll reach 100k in no time. BTW, I love the music by Adelyn Paik.
I live in VT so I can't really run outside here. I am working on building my core and legs so when spring comes I can start running. It will the first time running after 2 kids.
You really motivated me to start running again, I will start training tomorrow for a 5k run next year, thank you so much and keep going♥ yup I would totally love a virtual race with you:)
Love your running vlogs because they are motivating! One of my fitness goals is walking at least 2 times a week and doing one toning workout. I have been watching other channels that discuss their fitness journey like Daniella Joy, Alexandra Abia, Ursuslife, and Ashleysayque. Ursuslife is doing a walking challenge in her community tab, so hopefully that can motivate me.
Yay!! That makes me so happy!!🥹 yesss walking is a good goal! I’ve been trying to hit 8k steps daily even if I don’t leave my apartment (GrowWithJo walking workouts have been a Godsend!!) oooh a walking challenge!? I’ll def have to check it out 🫶🏽
Hey Selena, if it's any comfort to you I ran my first 5k averaging 15 minutes per mile and when I finished, all I wanted to do was run again and improve myself.
Hi Selena! I feel the same way about comparing my current self to my past self. I used to play volleyball in high school and now I coach it. I still play great but oh man I wish my body was stronger and I also lean towards thinking "why did you waste all that work younger you busted her butt for". I of course give myself grace and I don't beat myself up about but it comes up here and there especially when struggling with the WFH sedentary lifestyle. Have you ever considered a small treadmill for your work set-up? I kinda want to get one but it's an expensive addition after ordering a standing desk and new chair haha.
hi Carmen! yesss, comparison is definitely the thief of joy, I hear you... it's so true, comparing our adult bodies to our hs bodies really does our current bodies a disservice!
Hey! Selena your vlogs makes me so so so so so so happy and I really love your vlogs so so much you are my inspiration and I wish you reach 60K Subscribers very very soon!✨☺️💞
You did great! I'm dead even from just watching you run 😂 haha But I can walk for 3 hours.. And dance all night! It's just what make you enjoy moving your body :)

Thanks for sharing ❤️ I’ve played with the idea of starting to run but the thought is so intimidating!
Ayyy ahh ! Así que gracias por compartir tu proceso and being so kind in doing so 🧡🫶🏼
@__-Selena_Trevino el descaro!
Hello! I was a runner in hs as well, I did XC and track. Did long distance running on my own while I’m in college. But I have not ran in 2yrs and I’m starting again. This motivated me to get out and run 30min today ❤️
YASSSS GIRL 😭👏🏽 I’m so proud of you for doing the race! We believe in you in this journey, keep kicking butt! 💜
Thank you Brenda 🥹🤎
I love this video! I would love more running incorporated in your vids, updates and favorite stretches and what motivates you, whichever races you sign up for, etc. I signed up for a 5k and ended up with pretty bad shin splints a couple weeks before the race so I would love to continue this journey with you!
I definitely will share more! It’s exciting to hear where y’all are at in your journeys as well bc it feels like we’re all doing this together 🥰
Love your vlogs! It is also a busy season for me at work and I haven’t been able to commit to watching your videos lately😢. But great video! Very motivational.
Aww it’s okay don’t worry, the videos will be here, there’s no rush! Goodluck with your busy period 🤎
Ay!! Get it girl!! I love this great job! 💕💜🥰
Thank you, girl!!🫶🏽😭
@@SelenaTrevino 😘 💝
Hi Nancy, thank you so much!! This means more than you know 😭🤎 we can be virtual friends!! 🥹 sending love!!
You did the damn thing!! 👏🏼👏🏼 congrats on achieving this girly!
Thank you sm, girl!!🥰
Yes, to the virtual race! 💕
Yay! Ok that would en so fun! I wonder how I would set that up, gotta research for the new year!!😅
@@SelenaTrevino yes, that would be fun! 😊
I enjoyed watching this. I admit I am not much of a runner but I enjoy walking.
Walking is amazing!!🫶🏽
so inspired by you!!! 🤍
I love this video I want to get back into running. I was a distance runner in school. Watched this video while I edited mine so thanks for that.
Yesss girl do it!! It’s hard, but it’s worth it !!🫶🏽😊
I was on the live for a bit but I got pulled into a meeting!
3 miles is amazing! you're doing so good just consistently moving your body, I'm rooting for you!!
congrats on completing the 5k I’m really proud of this
Thank you Randi 🫶🏽
I am so proud of you for what you want to accomplish personally and professionally. Keep up with your content it's all great and I am confident you'll reach 100k in no time. BTW, I love the music by Adelyn Paik.
Thank you Myrta you’re so sweet 🥹🤎 & omg yes she’s amazing!!
I am a new runner and love the running vlogs!!
Yes to a virtual 5k btw! You did awesome!
I live in VT so I can't really run outside here. I am working on building my core and legs so when spring comes I can start running. It will the first time running after 2 kids.
👏 👏 what a beautiful background for a 5K. Congratulations ❤
It really was! 🥹 thank you!! 🫶🏽
A virtual run, yes!
You really motivated me to start running again, I will start training tomorrow for a 5k run next year, thank you so much and keep going♥ yup I would totally love a virtual race with you:)
Oh yay, that makes me so happy, you got this!!🫶🏽👏🏽
Love your running vlogs because they are motivating!
I’ll def have to check it out 🫶🏽
5k race, súper bien !
Hey Selena, if it's any comfort to you I ran my first 5k averaging 15 minutes per mile and when I finished, all I wanted to do was run again and improve myself.
Hi Selena good morning happy Saturday morning and I hope you having amazing day today and I loved your vlogs and you are amazing Supporter
@@SelenaTrevino ooh ok gotcha. Space is a big thing too. I'll try walking in place at my desk for now, slow high knees are free haha.
@@carmengraciano2604 my thoughts exactly!! I walk in place at my desk all the time now 🫶🏽
Hey! Selena your vlogs makes me so so so so so so happy and I really love your vlogs so so much you are my inspiration and I wish you reach 60K Subscribers very very soon!✨☺️💞
Thank you Mansoor, appreciate you as always 🫶🏽
Are you still running? Would love a running/fitness update!
Hi!!! What shoes would you recommend for a newbie "runner" lol
I plan to sometime in the future run a 5k too!

@@SelenaTrevino Probably here in California but I’m not sure yet 😅
