I was born Houston Texas 1959 Mexican American my grandfather on my mother's side was falsely convinced and had to work on a chain gang when he came home I was 10 years old he was a good man and I loved him I'm named after him👍💪😎 Paul Garcia
I’m 41 years old and growing up in Jamaica 🇯🇲 at the age of 8 my mother use to play Sam cook Percy sledge Otis Redding every Sunday and I’m so great full to have been brought up listening 👂 to those oldies
I am not even black. From India but I love this song. I heard it when I was a kid but I never knew about Sam. Malcolm X brought me here and I'm glad I know the name of the artist now.
When he made this song it was for the African American man in Americas early years of demonic horror. These men were unjustly given huge amounts of prison time to provide bodies to the prison industrial complex, a horrible money making venture. And many of these men crime in that day and time was the crime of being, poor, ignorant, hungry families and absolutely no way to rise in a system that despised them, hated them and marginalized them to a life of petty crimes to survive. As a matter of fact many were unjustly sentenced, having committed no crime at all. This is what I think of wherever I here this song. There blood cries from the earth for justice.
Hubbie and I are working in our house, days on end, seems endless, I ask him, what kind of music do you want to hear, sad, country, 70's, 80's 90's? How about 50/60's. He said, How about.. Working on the chain gang! :D That's why I'm here! LOL Poor guy, he's on vacation working harder than he does at work, isn't that how it always works out?
My Gal Friday, who so, happens to be the hardest working woman l know, prepared endlessly, for a store visit from a high-level escelon manager. Cleaning dust bunnies, getting sale items in a proper order, everything! She works her tail off, and she's NOT even the store manager. Just another member of a "chain gang", her 'silent' grunts can be heard in Sam Cookes Song.

Cry harder liberal
The job of the black man is to clean up the shit from the white man falling on his head. He is good for nothing else.
We should go back to how we used to. They'd learn their place as inferiors.
"Their blood cries from the earth for justice" they're dead as fuck nigga 😂
Good song
From the title I thought it was about jewelers making chains.
