Imo it can be okay to use jaggies, it just depends on what part of the sprite the jaggies are used on, for example when a sword sprite is meant to get thinner based on it's length.
Yeah, jaggies sometimes have to be used but since this tutorial is aimed primarily to beginners, I preferred to say to avoid them. Jaggies are still mostly a bad thing and to be pulled off correctly, need anti aliasing and such which I didn't want explore in this video.
