big bear didn't become fat after rehab, he's called BIG bear for a reason, he was fat like BIG smoke, he became really skinny once he started doing crack...

damn, if they really cut his mission near the end, at least they could add him at the final scene where everyone meets on CJ house showing that he now is rehabilited and ready to be part of CJ team for the GSF, that would have been cool
That's maybe why they changed it, the time would have been too short for rehab. If the finale was longer, then maybe they might have kept him as enough time could have passed? I dunno, just guessing. But they did kinda just...leave it messy and unfinished. They should have just cut him entirely as his story doesn't really resolve, not fully. Either that, or figure out another way to have finished his role more substantially, I'd have liked to have seen more of him. The whole ending of the game seemed rather rushed and forgotten. If the Venturas section was cut, or shortened then maybe they could have found better ways to resolve such story arcs by making the finale longer and less tacked on while shortening the dragging and rather unrelated Venturas stuff.

It totally sucks that they left out such an important character. If it wasnt that important why would CJ and Ryder go to Big Bear first? And why is CJ so sad after seeing how Big Bear is looking after "the diet" of coke? If it wasnt so important he could have said something like: "Well... That sucks." **and goes to the next GSF ex-member** . Is there any mod to bring back the full mission? And will somebody make a full mod that will totally change the way the storyline goes.

Big Bear sounds like the only sane member of the OG Posse even after smoking a lot of Crack. Big Smoke is autistically too deep, Sweet was exaggeratingly always Mad, Ryder was a fuckboy from the start, CJ is a goddamn psycho managing to be normal after having a shootout with Aliens wearing suits, Riding a fucking Jetpack, helping a Blind mafia Boss kill his competition, and being Castrated by Catalina . big bear was definitely fat before CJ left LS, hence his name 'big bear'. when you hear a name like that what do you think of? a big mean dude on the block, which was what he was before he got all cracked up and skinny which is why CJ was so surprised to see him in the state he was in that mission where we first see him with b dup. as for the other skin with the hoodie, i reckon it doesnt have to do much with how big bear progresses but is just there as a beta skin for him. and the theory about CJ taking big bear to rehab is definitely true as the script fits perfectly with how the story was going. and as for the big bear lines about him being back, i believe there was another mission after you take bear to rehab where CJ sweet and bear go to take over some territory to get GSF reputation back and when you eventually take over enough territory (sort of like that mission where CJ and sweet first come back to grove street and take it over again) it leads you to the mission where you are looking for clues on how to finally find smoke which is why the conversation about the russian cat is there, then you find the russian and beat him up to find out where smoke is as the script suggests, then you finally get the 'end of the line' mission. in my opinion this wouldve been a much better finish to the game as througout the whole game we only see big bear about twice? once at the very beginning and then again at the very end and then he just disappears again so it was kind of pointless him even being there. also, you can tell that there was a lot missing to the ending because after all of this time looking for smoke, sweet randomly calls you and finds out where he is after you take over some territories by yourself, which is kind of a weak finish compared to these missions with big bear that were cut.

What if Big Bear was going to be one of the protagonists or the beta protagonist of GTA SA? Since he has 5 different model two of which are just his body variables and there are files referring to multiple playable characters !!

This game is a masterpiece, I hope that someday Rockstar remake this game, add more stuff and use some unused materials that would look great on the game.
The fat model was never intended to be used in the game, not even in the beta. But if you have a bit of logic in your head you can easily find out when the model should be used: - His name is BIG Bear and he got that name before CJ left, hints at the fact, that he was fat once - The fact, what Crack can do to you. It can make you skinny as hell. - The line "Have you looked at yourself in the mirror lately" and the answer "Best diet I have ever been on". This states that he lost a lot of weight over the years when CJ was gone, if you put two and two together, you're gonna find out that Big Bear was fat before CJ left :D

Do a video about GTA San Andreas Beta map, there are a few beta maps inside GTA SA, most known is the Toreno house's and Lil' probe inn' map and the beta San Fierro map in the driving school.
I like to think he was was gonna be available as a bodyguard after End of the line. Like, he would just hang out at Grove Street until CJ recruited him. That would explain why so many of his unused lines is him dissin’ various gangs and groups. Him just following you around to take over territories for the second to last mission sounds like a bit of a long shot. It would have been cool to see him in the final cutscene because in the moments he was mentioned he sounded like a person just as important as Sweet or CJ
i can feel that Big Bear was actually one of the more "specific" and "unique" characters hanging out near CJ's house at Grove Street with other same faced gang members and you can roll with him if you recruit him after rehab (including the missions Big Bear was in that got scrapped). its all guess but maybe he was the one rolling with you taking territories back missions before the Last mission : End of The Line but Rockstar made it more focused on CJ and Sweet's relationship as brothers. i can guess that because Big Bear was having voice over on the Varrios Los Aztecas maybe there was one mission with a flashback giving the player the perspective and control of Big Bear during his younger years (the green hoodied model) gattling down Aztecas as a tutorial to taking of Territories(Hoods) in El Corona or Unity Station (Aztecas hood) but was later scrapped for CJ's mission in Doberman. Funnily enough. Doberman was also a different mission originally(Carl has to stop Poncho from being arrested, kill Officer Carver and grab "evidence" before the cops collect it.). Doberman's first name was "All Terrain Takedown"
and because there was no Doberman during those Development (it was a different mission) it supports the idea that there IS a mission similar to Doberman with you taking over a territory to trigger Hood Wars. Big Bear is the only one with a unique voice line featuring Aztecas and Big Bear is weirdly always connected to taking territories....
Doberman was about cj killing A drug dealer for Tenpenny who Could have testified against him Cj had to stop him from being Arrested and collect drug bags
I think the end of the game was rushed. It makes sense to have a big mission were you have to take back the rest of Glen Park , the rest of Idlewood, Willow Field, East Los Santos, and East Beach. I wish you didn't have to kill Ryder just because they didn't know what to do with him. It makes sense that you have CJ, Sweet, Big Bear, & Ryder for this mission for a big Grove Street come back.
Jacob Tuell Ryder is a bitch and never cared for Grove Street. It wouldn't make sense for him to come back. Big Smoke did care, but the whole fame and money shit got to him.
I would love to see Big Bear as a backup gangster, but I think they scrapped the idea because of one reason: He would multiply like others. Or they should have gave him a house in Grove Street and when the player comes to pick him up, he would automatically become a hired gangster.

I think the game was later made in a rush to meet deadlines and not delay the release date. There wasn't enough time to do all the things they wanted to do, so Rockstar took an alternate way when creating the final missions

@@easkateman yea fat people probably would've started doing drugs if they saw his model go from fat to skinny especially young fat kids,they should've just had him fat the entire game because crack only makes u skinny because you stop eating and is out and about doing anything to get that blast (coke hit) which takes alot of energy and calories while u out thier chasing the drugs.
I think that the whole Doberman in the beta, that it supposed to guide you on how to gain a territory. All Terrain Takedown was simply have to take over 15% of East Los Santos and also looking for Big Smoke. I'm not saying that it's true, although this is my OPINION!
By the way I've found out the meaning behind some of Big Bear's gameplay lines: 1) The first ones in the video are appearantly taunts against enemy gangs. This might be a beta feature that had to do with various characters. For instance, Cesar and Sweet have those lines too. 2) The "Bear is back on the Grove" is actually an idle line. Most storyline characters have those in their gameplay lines. Smoke has for example "I wanna be a leader of me", Cesar has "I wanna build Kendl a low-rider" and Ryder has "One day I'm gonna smoke that Pulaski fool" and so on. If you make Big Bear spawn as a ped he will say those lines when walking around (and so will the other aforementioned characters). 3) The "getting to rehab" thing is when he is getting car-jacked. Same thing here, most storyline characters have these lines. They're based on each character's personality so since Bear is a crackhead he will say stuff like this. Like in 2), if you jack his ride when you see him on the street he will say lines like this. 4) This one is a mystery tbh. Possibly some kind of beta leftover like in 1). I'm 100% certain about the other lines though.
I think in the beta the fat Big Bear were a flashback cutescene and during the mission where we see big bear he would actually join us(probably forced by sweet, which I think started a fight with B-dup and won with CJ's help) in Grove but he was still in rehab during what I think was from when he was supposed to came back to when OG Loc made a party but the ballas attacked grove street, maybe he was the one to tell everyone the ballas were coming instead of a random gang member

Arcklez Well, I slightly misunderstood your point, sorry. From the very beginning I thought the same way. For instance, Bear was fat before the game, then he became slim due to the crack and finally, he gained this weight back after or while his rehab. I removed this thought, because he became junky a long time ago, so there is no way to show this model in the beginning of the game. Who knows.
***** True, but also in the mission "Cleaning the Hood" When CJ sees Big bear he says "Big Bear is that you?" almost as if CJ can hardly recognize him. That also might indicate that way back before CJ left San Andreas Big bear was fat. Unless Im misinterpreting that line.
Big Bear has that name for a reason like Big Smoke he was wide. Most likely his fat model was going to be used for the Introduction video but for some reason they cut it out. Like how his dialogue said after Brian died and CJ left for Liberty City. Sweet became hard to deal with, a bad leader. They started to lose their dominance in the city and when Seville Boulevard and Temple Drive Families split from the Grove. It made everything worse over the years CJ was gone. Unlike how Sweet nearly gave up and started to give in to the drugs at the end; Big Bear actually did and became very addicted to it. That's probably what the three Ballas at the Introduction video meant when they said "Even OGs want a slice of this" and "This shit right here changes everybody" All of that continuous smoking made him lose all of that weight and that's why he's like that. But he was still addicted to it and spent all of his money and probably lost his house. Around that time B-Dup must have started going in the crack game for himself and he decided to live with him and being able to smoke all the crack he wants in exchange for house service. That's probably when Big Smoke started to betray the Grove for his own purposes and decided to have Ryder join him to help C.R.A.S.H. That's what they were talking about the opportunity. Make it seem like they had no choice and still make a quick buck. Then shortly after his Crack Fortress started up he kept it hush hush so no one would know what he was doing that's probably how and why he got his own place out of the Grove. Be suspicious living there and Sweet see Tenpenny and Pulaski there all the time bugging him to do their dirty work. Only reason Ryder probably didn't move out was to be a mole for Smoke whenever he was handling his Crack Fortress or C.R.A.S.H. business.
A random thought at Big Bear having both thin and fat models. His voice actor was massively overweight until 2003 when he underwent surgery to remove 250 pounds. Since his character also has two different models for vastly different physiques it could somehow have something to do with that.
I think there is fat big bear becuese he was costumisable like CJ. And there was supposed after the mission the player being bear and CJ just like in GTA 5.
Maybe it would've been possible to find Big Bear on the streets after his rehab, hence his lines talking like the 3 fams after they're acquired. We can only think the beta version would've been more fun and diverse. There are so many different things just by looking through the leftovers of the things scrapped. Big Bear, Tony, Little Devil, Big Devil, Brian, LB, Little Weasel's betrayal, Ryder's shady death and so on. It just feels like the final version of the game is a couple of puzzle pieces put together from the actual idea.
I think that grove street had huuuuuuge number of skins even with secret Big Bear character (csbigbear2) and because of PS2 limits Rockstars had to just leave 3 simple skins for every gang what a shame
What i actually think is that Big Bear should be fat in the mission called "Cleaning the hood". Cuz nobody said he looked different. So he used to be fat. On the mission called "Beat down on B Dup" CJ mention he changed and Big Bear said : "The best diet i ever had". The timeline between these missions is kinda long. So he had his "diet" and lost his weight between these missions. But still this doesnt answer the question why rocksater didnt used the fat Big Bear model. İts just my opinion why there is a fat model of Big Bear. @Vadim M

I'd love to see big bear making a cameo in another gta game kinda like packie or something.A lot of his story wasn't even used in the game.It's a shame since he looks like a cool and unique character...
This would take up alot of time, but could you make a modded mission where you can re-create those 'beta' missions by all the data you've uncovered? Like the beta 'Beat Down on B Dup' mostly featured in this episode. Obviously some beta missions where re-coverable but most arn't. Please reply and see if you or someone else could. It'd be a great mod!
What should have happened was after Big Bear was taken to rehab and went back to Grove Street, an actual two player mode should have been unlocked and Big Bear could be treated like CJ. Or maybe Big Bear should have had missions that helped you conquer all the territories. Think about it, two four door/seat cars, each driven by Bear or CJ, and in total there would be 8 Grove Street Family Members taking over Los Santos. Why do GSF members always compliment CJ's shoes?

If you watch the 2nd trailer for GTA San you see near the beginning a quick clip of big bear punching the guy that cj and Ryder confront trying to see big bear, which means it's true, cuz after he punched the guy who was telling him what to do he prob went with Ryder and cj. Which also means he must've came later in the making of San sense he was shown in the 2nd trailer and not the first
I think that the fat one was the old bear before becoming a crack addict, and the gsf one was after the rehab, ready to roll with grove (also regained weight but not as before). I‘m sure it‘s not right but it‘s coherent.
It would be cool to sometimes bump into bear if a territory is being invaded, or the grove suddenly invades another gangs territory. like: "Ey CJ I was just driving to the burgershot then these balla fools started blasting, guess we have to take the whole neighborhood now huh?" And he would have a signature wepon, like sweet and his AK, Smoke and tenpenny with the Spaz, and bear could have a desert eagle???
I think big bear was supposed to have mission too. I.e like Ryder or Big Smoke or Sweet. Though it's strange on how he was supposed to played a bigger role in the beta but in final game he's just that, forgotten character not even anyone remember him..
I think the reason Big Bear was helping you in the cut-out mission is because CJ and Sweet helped him out on the "Beat Down on B Dup" ,i think he's trying to return the favor, plus he's a GSF member so... The name Big Bear I think because he was like Big smoke , fat, so that's why they call him big. Maybe the fat model was planned to be used to the prologue/introduction so we can know more about him. the other model could be the beta version of bear, and later was changed... The game could be real masterpiece, they cut A LOT of it maybe because the mission was long/difficult or too long or maybe can't fit in one disc...
my tin foil hat conspiracy theory on all this is that at the beginning of GTA sa they wanted to set up a prequel and the player could play cj before he left for liberty and it revolved around the death of cjs brother Brian since it happens to be a prominent thing that many characters reference to and how smoke says cj used to be buffer before and big bear fat model, but the whole prequel thing was scrapped very early on
Big bear probabily help CJ to get all the gang territorys back after rehab like a side mission who you go to bears house or bears call to you and you choose "yes" or "no"... of course this is a theory

Well i know i am late. But according to quote lines, i think firstly when big bear became a slav for b dup he used to be fat. But after bbeat down on b dup, cj questions him how thin big bear is. So according to me, before cj escaped ls big bear used to be fat, but after leaving gsf he got low on food and became thin. I still aint got any idea on his gang skin

The fat model was never intended to be used in the game, not even in the beta. But if you have a bit of logic in your head you can easily find out when the model should be used:
- His name is BIG Bear and he got that name before CJ left, hints at the fact, that he was fat once
- The fact, what Crack can do to you. It can make you skinny as hell.
- The line "Have you looked at yourself in the mirror lately" and the answer "Best diet I have ever been on".
This states that he lost a lot of weight over the years when CJ was gone, if you put two and two together, you're gonna find out that Big Bear was fat before CJ left :D

Do a video about GTA San Andreas Beta map, there are a few beta maps inside GTA SA, most known is the Toreno house's and Lil' probe inn' map and the beta San Fierro map in the driving school.
I like to think he was was gonna be available as a bodyguard after End of the line. Like, he would just hang out at Grove Street until CJ recruited him. That would explain why so many of his unused lines is him dissin’ various gangs and groups. Him just following you around to take over territories for the second to last mission sounds like a bit of a long shot. It would have been cool to see him in the final cutscene because in the moments he was mentioned he sounded like a person just as important as Sweet or CJ
i can feel that Big Bear was actually one of the more "specific" and "unique" characters hanging out near CJ's house at Grove Street with other same faced gang members and you can roll with him if you recruit him after rehab (including the missions Big Bear was in that got scrapped). its all guess but maybe he was the one rolling with you taking territories back missions before the Last mission : End of The Line but Rockstar made it more focused on CJ and Sweet's relationship as brothers.
i can guess that because Big Bear was having voice over on the Varrios Los Aztecas maybe there was one mission with a flashback giving the player the perspective and control of Big Bear during his younger years (the green hoodied model) gattling down Aztecas as a tutorial to taking of Territories(Hoods) in El Corona or Unity Station (Aztecas hood) but was later scrapped for CJ's mission in Doberman. Funnily enough. Doberman was also a different mission originally(Carl has to stop Poncho from being arrested, kill Officer Carver and grab "evidence" before the cops collect it.). Doberman's first name was "All Terrain Takedown"
EDIT: oh shit im connecting dots here with the All Terrain Takedown . Big Bear was included in that mission!?
and because there was no Doberman during those Development (it was a different mission) it supports the idea that there IS a mission similar to Doberman with you taking over a territory to trigger Hood Wars. Big Bear is the only one with a unique voice line featuring Aztecas and Big Bear is weirdly always connected to taking territories....

I think the end of the game was rushed. It makes sense to have a big mission were you have to take back the rest of Glen Park , the rest of Idlewood, Willow Field, East Los Santos, and East Beach. I wish you didn't have to kill Ryder just because they didn't know what to do with him. It makes sense that you have CJ, Sweet, Big Bear, & Ryder for this mission for a big Grove Street come back.
Jacob Tuell Ryder is a bitch and never cared for Grove Street. It wouldn't make sense for him to come back. Big Smoke did care, but the whole fame and money shit got to him.

I think the game was later made in a rush to meet deadlines and not delay the release date. There wasn't enough time to do all the things they wanted to do, so Rockstar took an alternate way when creating the final missions

I think that the whole Doberman in the beta, that it supposed to guide you on how to gain a territory. All Terrain Takedown was simply have to take over 15% of East Los Santos and also looking for Big Smoke. I'm not saying that it's true, although this is my OPINION!
Thanks for doing this man, I've always wondered about those two models and why Big Bear didn't have a bigger place on the story.
By the way I've found out the meaning behind some of Big Bear's gameplay lines: 1) The first ones in the video are appearantly taunts against enemy gangs. This might be a beta feature that had to do with various characters. For instance, Cesar and Sweet have those lines too. 2) The "Bear is back on the Grove" is actually an idle line. Most storyline characters have those in their gameplay lines. Smoke has for example "I wanna be a leader of me", Cesar has "I wanna build Kendl a low-rider" and Ryder has "One day I'm gonna smoke that Pulaski fool" and so on. If you make Big Bear spawn as a ped he will say those lines when walking around (and so will the other aforementioned characters). 3) The "getting to rehab" thing is when he is getting car-jacked. Same thing here, most storyline characters have these lines. They're based on each character's personality so since Bear is a crackhead he will say stuff like this. Like in 2), if you jack his ride when you see him on the street he will say lines like this. 4) This one is a mystery tbh. Possibly some kind of beta leftover like in 1). I'm 100% certain about the other lines though.
I think in the beta the fat Big Bear were a flashback cutescene and during the mission where we see big bear he would actually join us(probably forced by sweet, which I think started a fight with B-dup and won with CJ's help) in Grove but he was still in rehab during what I think was from when he was supposed to came back to when OG Loc made a party but the ballas attacked grove street, maybe he was the one to tell everyone the ballas were coming instead of a random gang member

From the very beginning I thought the same way. For instance, Bear was fat before the game, then he became slim due to the crack and finally, he gained this weight back after or while his rehab.
I removed this thought, because he became junky a long time ago, so there is no way to show this model in the beginning of the game.

Big Bear has that name for a reason like Big Smoke he was wide. Most likely his fat model was going to be used for the Introduction video but for some reason they cut it out. Like how his dialogue said after Brian died and CJ left for Liberty City. Sweet became hard to deal with, a bad leader. They started to lose their dominance in the city and when Seville Boulevard and Temple Drive Families split from the Grove. It made everything worse over the years CJ was gone. Unlike how Sweet nearly gave up and started to give in to the drugs at the end; Big Bear actually did and became very addicted to it. That's probably what the three Ballas at the Introduction video meant when they said "Even OGs want a slice of this" and "This shit right here changes everybody" All of that continuous smoking made him lose all of that weight and that's why he's like that. But he was still addicted to it and spent all of his money and probably lost his house. Around that time B-Dup must have started going in the crack game for himself and he decided to live with him and being able to smoke all the crack he wants in exchange for house service. That's probably when Big Smoke started to betray the Grove for his own purposes and decided to have Ryder join him to help C.R.A.S.H. That's what they were talking about the opportunity. Make it seem like they had no choice and still make a quick buck. Then shortly after his Crack Fortress started up he kept it hush hush so no one would know what he was doing that's probably how and why he got his own place out of the Grove. Be suspicious living there and Sweet see Tenpenny and Pulaski there all the time bugging him to do their dirty work. Only reason Ryder probably didn't move out was to be a mole for Smoke whenever he was handling his Crack Fortress or C.R.A.S.H. business.
A random thought at Big Bear having both thin and fat models. His voice actor was massively overweight until 2003 when he underwent surgery to remove 250 pounds. Since his character also has two different models for vastly different physiques it could somehow have something to do with that.

And there was supposed after the mission the player being bear and CJ just like in GTA 5.
Maybe it would've been possible to find Big Bear on the streets after his rehab, hence his lines talking like the 3 fams after they're acquired.
We can only think the beta version would've been more fun and diverse. There are so many different things just by looking through the leftovers of the things scrapped. Big Bear, Tony, Little Devil, Big Devil, Brian, LB, Little Weasel's betrayal, Ryder's shady death and so on. It just feels like the final version of the game is a couple of puzzle pieces put together from the actual idea.
Pissed off Big Bear's role got diminished solely because his voice actor did a REALLY fucking good job with him. Did an amazing job voicing him.
I think that grove street had huuuuuuge number of skins even with secret Big Bear character (csbigbear2) and because of PS2 limits Rockstars had to just leave 3 simple skins for every gang what a shame

What i actually think is that Big Bear should be fat in the mission called "Cleaning the hood". Cuz nobody said he looked different. So he used to be fat. On the mission called "Beat down on B Dup" CJ mention he changed and Big Bear said : "The best diet i ever had". The timeline between these missions is kinda long. So he had his "diet" and lost his weight between these missions. But still this doesnt answer the question why rocksater didnt used the fat Big Bear model. İts just my opinion why there is a fat model of Big Bear. @Vadim M

This would take up alot of time, but could you make a modded mission where you can re-create those 'beta' missions by all the data you've uncovered? Like the beta 'Beat Down on B Dup' mostly featured in this episode. Obviously some beta missions where re-coverable but most arn't. Please reply and see if you or someone else could. It'd be a great mod!
What should have happened was after Big Bear was taken to rehab and went back to Grove Street, an actual two player mode should have been unlocked and Big Bear could be treated like CJ. Or maybe Big Bear should have had missions that helped you conquer all the territories. Think about it, two four door/seat cars, each driven by Bear or CJ, and in total there would be 8 Grove Street Family Members taking over Los Santos. Why do GSF members always compliment CJ's shoes?

If you watch the 2nd trailer for GTA San you see near the beginning a quick clip of big bear punching the guy that cj and Ryder confront trying to see big bear, which means it's true, cuz after he punched the guy who was telling him what to do he prob went with Ryder and cj. Which also means he must've came later in the making of San sense he was shown in the 2nd trailer and not the first

I think big bear was supposed to have mission too. I.e like Ryder or Big Smoke or Sweet. Though it's strange on how he was supposed to played a bigger role in the beta but in final game he's just that, forgotten character not even anyone remember him..

The name Big Bear I think because he was like Big smoke , fat, so that's why they call him big. Maybe the fat model was planned to be used to the prologue/introduction so we can know more about him.

my tin foil hat conspiracy theory on all this is that at the beginning of GTA sa they wanted to set up a prequel and the player could play cj before he left for liberty and it revolved around the death of cjs brother Brian since it happens to be a prominent thing that many characters reference to and how smoke says cj used to be buffer before and big bear fat model, but the whole prequel thing was scrapped very early on
Big bear probabily help CJ to get all the gang territorys back after rehab like a side mission who you go to bears house or bears call to you and you choose "yes" or "no"... of course this is a theory
