  • Manisha Gera Baswani is an artist that shifts between painting, photography and installation. First inspired by A. Ramachandran, she walks her own path, exploring the histories of Partition, the flexibility of borders, and the need to first feel pain in order to find wholeness.

Thank you. I find her emphasis on the Partition in her discussion as well as in her postcard project so moving. My mother, due to WW11, had to move from Germany to the U.S., and I feel that she always felt 'homeless,' though protected by the move.

What a wonderful artist and person Manisha is. Her home is so enticing. It is wonderful for me to see and hear India again. Thank you Waswo. I was curious if the heart drawings are on a black paper substrate or canvas. Where does the paper pulp reside? Fabulous technique. Great to see all the art.

As far as I understand, one side of the white paper is painted black; the needle pushing in from the white side leaves rough white edges of the pulp on the black side.
