Just goes to show that our society is too enamored with physical and aesthetic beauty and attractions of the flesh than they are with more authentic forms of substance and beauty. If we're being honest, Stevie Nicks has a terrible voice and sings with a nervous machine-gun vibrato. Her interpretation is poor, she drops off the end of notes in an ugly, unmusical fashion, and she doesn't sing perfectly in tune. Her range is limited. Even when she was in her prime, it was not a pleasant-sounding voice. Listening to her singing a phrase is like taking a swig of tudca water. But Christine, a far superior singer had to take a back seat to Nicks, just because Nicks had the sex appeal. But take a look now! Nicks' sex appeal is long gone, she's got bags under her eyes the size of Santa-sacks and all she is left with is her sour, repugnant, unappealing voice.

@@artvandelay8090 very stupid comment. Stevie Nicks has been inducted into the rock n roll hall of fame TWICE for a reason. She had a great voice, and sung with passion. Being a performer isn’t all about how good you are at singing, it definitely helps but putting on a show has a massive part as well and Stevie was great at this. Idiot

    • @jasonkellogg388
      @jasonkellogg388 3 роки тому +9

@@patrickmoffatt1596 No, it's not a stupid comment at all. Her voice is terrible. It doesn't matter that the public liked her for her sex appeal and for some other shallow, superficial, non-music-related qualities that caused them to go out and buy her records. Her pitch is habitually flat, she has a machine-gun vibrato, kinda' like a munchkin voice, and she has a very limited range. Commercial appeal and musical merit are two separate things and if that's too much for you to grasp, then the stupid one is in your mirror. I don't care that she's in the Hall of Fame. That means nothing. The hall doesn't look at vocal quality. All they look at is commercial success. I suppose you're going to say that Sonny and Cher had great voices, too because they sold a lot of records and had several TV shows? Please, get a brain.

@@jasonkellogg388 & Art = Dumb & Dumber The two of them together put Fleetwood Mac on the map. They didn't sell 40+ million Rumours albums over how good looking someone was,for the simple fact nobody's picture is on the album. They both wrote good songs and had completely different style voices from one another. Christine had a unique British voice that was "liquid gold" just like the Arthur stated.
Jason, I'd have to say your the dumber between the two of you. Pretty bold to tell someone to "please get a brain", when you've got shit for yours.

@@SilverBullet22250 You're such a moron, you can't even cite any technical detail to back up your claim that Stevie Nicks has a good voice (which she doesn't, it sucks). All you can do is keep polly-parroting the same dumb statement over and over about record sales or HOF or whatever. The specific factual detail of why Stevie Nicks' singing sucks has already been provided. You obviously have -0- musical knowledge or expertise to refute that or to defend your inane statements. Very true. Everyone thinks of Stevie and Lindsy. Most dont even know about FM 1 This is actuley FM 2. Nobody remembers Peter Green who formed the band, made them big in England . Then went a bit crazy and left McVee and Fleetwood wondering Well now what? so they looked for another singer/guitar and found Lindsey. He said ,yes, when asked, but only if you take my girlfriend too. Stevie. As they say, the rest is history.

Gotta admit she still sounds good and she interprets the music really well, soulfully. She doesn't try to do too much with it, either which is good. Nothing is more repulsive than over-singing and over-embellishing something. When she sings it the way she does, it's very soothing.

@@mrpentium What I regret is that I didn't really *find* music until I was about uhhhhhh 14? ish? Something. That was when every boy at school was going nuts over Van Halen and Iron Maiden. I was bigtime into Maiden because it was the cool thing to do, but it wasn't my first true love in music. That honor goes to Boston. My sister's boyfriend had "Don't Look Back" on 8 track, and my family inexplicably had their first album on vinyl. One day I just sat down at the turntable with a headset and started really listening, and that was that, I was hooked on them. But I didn't really start going over everything I'd missed from other bands until recently, for some reason. Fleetwood Mac was one of those I never gave any true attention to, over all these years. Thank God for UA-cam, because it's all here, waiting to be rediscovered. SO much good music from the 70s to 90s, it'll never be like that again... not for us.

I'm not sure about John McVie because I never really listened to his bass lines before and my earbuds are too shitty to hear them now. I've always noticed that J. McVie always gravitates towards Mick Fleetwood in a performance, which is how it should be. They're really both percussionists.
Lindsay Buckingham I totally agree with, listen to 'Big Love' he plays that guitar in real time, no over-dubbing or anything. Criminally underrated, you're right. If I know my Fleetwood Mac lore well enough that was the prime reason they hired him (and subsequently Stevie Nicks, because they were a package deal). Turned out they could also write some pretty good songs.

With all due respect to Stevie I love her I really do. However, Christine was the true Queen of Fleetwood Mac because she earned it.
Peter Green the founder of the band asked her to join Fleetwood Mac in 1968 as a session musician after being so impressed by her when he saw her play live with Chicken Shack he asked to her join after they opened for them.
So, when he decided to leave the band in 1970, both he and Mick Fleetwood wanted to make sure that she took his spot. She has uncredited and credited songwriting, singing and music that dates back to 1968's Mr. Wonderful album which was FM's second album all the way through the time she died.
She has played on every single Fleetwood Mac album except one and that was in 1967 a year before she started playing with the band.
Mick Fleetwood said himself that she was the glue that kept Fleetwood Mac going In 1970 on after Peter Green abruptly left. She is and will always be the Queen of The Mac!

Come on, that's a classic, and not the 1st one people say. So friggin' awesome, I grew up on this song. Summer time, going to the beach, just a funky song as a little kid. Now I'm old, Almost 40yrs. one foot in the grave. But at least I can listen to songs that cheer Me up :-)

Gosh I love Christine! For so many years I thought Stevie Nicks was the lead singer or that chick with such a gorgeous, COOL voice. I found out on a PBS show a month ago that Fleetwood Mac's lead singer was a different girl who was even more beautiful then the popular Stevie Nicks. Maybe Stevie Nicks was the lead singer, but it was Christine who had the cool voice I loved so much. I'm sorry I never thought to buy one of their albums. I would have learned this 40 years ago and I'm sure owned all of their albums.

Fleetwood Mac always knew musically when to step aside and let the other one do there bit, ironically what made them so great is getting involved to much in each other’s personal life’s. A band for the ages and on..

It’s just amazing that this performance even happened.
Their personal drama from the previous four decades is enough to choke a horse, but they got together and pulled it off, just like they had been jamming every week since the late 70s.
Watching the performance of this song just makes me feel young again. I’m as much in love with Christine today as I was in 1979. 😍
