**for people who don’t have this tool and are struggling… I used a back of an earring lol
girl you are a life saver 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Banging it soft to replace or using thumb can work. Have tried
I used a pin😂
I used a metal nail file!! Worked amazingly!!
I used the damn remote
You do a good job explaining the Roku device, I have a Roku and really like it!
Hi Gary, Thanks for watching, I appreciate it. I also appreciate your feedback on my videos, Thanks! I'm glad your liking your Roku.
Omg, thanks a lot it worked guys I recommend you using one of those!
Thank you!
Hey so you can use a spoon with a tiny bit of source towards the top half of the batteries if you don’t have the little green thingy
At the top of the piece that comes off the remote, there is a tiny piece of plastic-the size of a tooth. I used the back of it-super easy. No additional tools (or broken nails) required. 😅
My remote backside is one piece except at the top. There is a 1" piece that is shiney. My back does not have a piece that slides off the lower portion of the back of the remote for new batteries.
Thanks Alot!
Me who used a butter knife : look at those fools needing a fourth percent of my power
Thank you
Thank you so much
Hi Ivan, thanks for watching and glad the video was helpful!

Hi and thanks for watching, I am glad this video was helpful!
Hello 👋 Good Evening; So guess what ?!? listening 👂🏼 to you press on the three lines on the back was so helpful where you say it pops out easily and when I did that after one and two tries because you just say lightly 🙄 and there was so much force !I noticed there was some Kinda liquid stuck in it like maybe juice 🧃 ( lil’ man on the loose in household 🤦🏻♀️ that’s why I was having a little hard time but I believe you did wonders !!! whoop 🙌 whoop 🙌 continue your excellent 💫 work with This GR8 Co. named ROKU 👏🏼 😉 😎
Thanks for watching and for the feedback, I appreciate it! I am glad the video was helpful.
what is this plastic tool called? I want to get one as getting the batteries out is very hard.
I’ve only had my Roku for about three months to change the batteries now the remote doesn’t work try pairing it doesn’t work it has indicated on it when I will go to push it doesn’t light up Brand New so what do I do
Did anyone help you or what did you wind up doing? Mine still isnt working. I have a flashing green light below the batteries. I've tried pressing buttons to activate the control but nothing. Then I've tried pressing the buttons after that green light goes off, nada.
If you don’t have the tool, you can also use a orange Lego remover. Just use the handle part.
If u need a tool to change ur batteries just go ahead and off urself. How dumb can u be
I have always hated how these batteries are out under a flap no other remote needs this why does Roku omg I've almost broken off so many nails trying to get them out
Omg why Roku why? Had to use a metal letter opener
It won’t work for me it’s really hard to push it out
Thanks for watching, these batteries can be tough to get out because of the design. Hopefully you were able to get it.
my cover is not removable help!
Go to my page and see photo. I did not think mine was removable either.
What kind of batteries do I need to purchase???
AAA Batteries
Soooo…what if I don’t have that plastic tool? So frustrated right now with the way Roku designed this. Broke bot thumb nails so far and still can’t get the 2nd one out. 😠
i used my thumb nail to push down on the remote, then pull outward while still pushing down. i pushed down on the side without the spring.
@@95victorian I ended up using a knife with a plastic handle to avoid the potential of getting shocked. Like I said, I broke both thumb nails trying to get the 2nd one out. Bottom line: I managed to get the batteries changed and lived to tell the tale. 😁
I don’t have tool like that😢
Mine takes AA batteries
I DON'T HAVE THAT
use the back of the piece that comes off
Tysm ur a lifesaver
I used scissors.
Not at all my roku remote!!! No batteries in mine
Alert...only Duracell work with this remote. Eveready batteries do not. Figure that one out.
Other batteries work fine for me
Bruh. This is a 30 second video at most.
This video is kinda useless. I used a butter knife and pushed the top down... After breaking a nail file
So 3 major flaws so far with Roku hardware - stick gets so hot need to ask Roku to mail a "fix" gadget, remote battery cover so tight 1000s of ppl have to google how to open it, and batteries so snug that a tool is necessary. Pathetic Roku!! Shame on you.
This is a badly designed product.
