യഥാർത്ഥ മഹാഭാരതത്തിലെ കർണ്ണന് കുറേ നന്മയും കുറേ തിന്മയുമുണ്ട്. എന്നാൽ സീരിയലുകാർ കർണ്ണന്റെ കുറേ തിന്മ വശം മറച്ചു വയ്ക്കുന്നു. കുട്ടിക്കാലം മുതൽ ദുര്യോധനനോടൊത്ത് പലതവണ പാണ്ഡവരെ കൊല്ലുവാൻ ശ്രമിച്ചു.
പാണ്ഡവരെ വനവാസത്തിനു അയക്കാൻ കൂട്ടു നിന്നു. പകുതി രാജ്യം പാണ്ഡവർക്ക് തിരികെ കൊടുക്കാൻ എതിരു നിന്നു. കൊടുത്തിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ യുദ്ധം ഉണ്ടാകില്ലായുരുന്നു.
കൂടാതെ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു കർണനേക്കാൾ മികച്ചവനാണ് അർജുൻ എന്ന് പല തവണ തെളിയിക്ക പെട്ടതാണ്.
1. പാണ്ഡവ വനവാസ കാലത്ത് അവരെ അവിടെ വച്ചു അപമാനിക്കാൻ കർണ്ണൻ, ദുര്യോധനൻ, ശകുനി തുടങ്ങിയവർ കാട്ടിൽ പോയി. ഗന്ധർവൻമാരുമായുള്ള യുദ്ധത്തിൽ കൌരവർ തോറ്റു. കർണ്ണൻ പേടിച്ച് ഓടിപ്പോയി. ദുര്യോധനനെ ഗന്ധർവന്മാർ ബന്ധിച്ചു. പിന്നെ അർജുനൻ ആണ് ഗന്ധർവന്മാരിൽ നിന്ന് കൌരവരെ രക്ഷിച്ചത്.
2. വിരാട യുദ്ധത്തിൽ കർണ്ണൻ അർജുനനുമായി നേരിട്ട് പോരാടി തോറ്റ് ഓടിപ്പോയി. രണ്ടാമതും പിന്നീട് വന്ന് പോരാടി തോറ്റു. മുറിവേറ്റ് തളർന്ന കർണ്ണനെ അർജ്ജുനൻ കൊല്ലാതെ വിട്ടു. അതേ യുദ്ധത്തിൽ അർജുൻ ഭീഷ്മർ, ദ്രോണർ, ശല്യർ, ദുര്യോധനൻ തുടങ്ങിയവരെയൊക്കെ പരാജയപ്പെടുത്തി.
അതും സീരിയലുകാർ മറച്ചുവച്ചു.

കർണൻ ഇതിൽ ദുര്യോധന പക്ഷം നിന്നത് ഒരു തെറ്റല്ല.. കാരണം, ജാതിയുടെ പേരിൽ അപമാനം കൊണ്ട് നീറി നിൽക്കുമ്പോൾ കൂടെ നിന്നത് ദുര്യോധനനാണ്.
അമ്മയായ കുന്തി പോലും കൂടെ ഉണ്ടായില്ല.. ചെറുപ്പം മുതൽ ഒരുപാട് അപമാനങ്ങൾ അനുഭവിച്ചു വന്നു.

Wishing to slay Karna, bring about his end and convey him to Yama, he released the arrow, which was as radiant as the sun and the moon. Cheerfully, so that he could be conveyed towands victory, the one with the diadem and the garland shot the arrow. It was as radiant as the sun and the moon. He harboured feelings of enmity and wished to slay his enemy. That weapon, blazing like the sun, was shot. Like the sun, it lit up the earth with its radiance. എല്ലാവരും കർണൻ അനുഭവിച്ച ത്യാഗങ്ങൾ,അപമാനങ്ങൾ കാണുന്നു...പക്ഷെ അർജുനൻ അനുഭവിച്ച അത്രയും ത്യാഗങ്ങളും അപമാനങ്ങളും ആരും അനുഭവിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടാകില്ല എന്നതാണ് സത്യം. കർണ്ണന് ജനിച്ചപ്പോൾ തന്നെ കവച കുണ്ഡലം സൂര്യദേവൻ നൽകിയപ്പോൾ അർജുനൻ കേവലം മനുഷ്യനായി തന്നെയാണ് ജനിച്ചത്... കർണനെ സൂതൻ എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു കളിയാക്കുന്നു എന്നാണ് എല്ലാവരും പറയുന്നത്...പക്ഷെ അതൊരു മഹത്തരമായ തൊഴിൽ ആണ്...അത് ചെയ്യുന്ന അച്ഛന്റേം അമ്മയുടേം കൂടെ കർണൻ കുട്ടിക്കാലം വളരെ സന്തോഷകരമായി ജീവിച്ചത്..പക്ഷെ അർജുനൻ അന്നേരം കൊട്ടാരത്തിൽ ധൃതാരാഷ്ട്ര ഭരണത്തിന് കീഴിൽ അവിടത്തെ അടിമനെ പോലെയാണ് ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നത്..ദുര്യോധനനും സഹോദരങ്ങളും അത്രയേറെ പണ്ടവരെ ദ്രോഹിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട് കുട്ടിക്കാലത്തു. ആ കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ ക്ഷത്രിയവംശത്തിൽ പെട്ടവർ മാത്രമാണ് യുദ്ധങ്ങളിൽ ഏർപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നത്,അവർക്കാണ് ആയുധ പരിശീലനം വേണ്ടിയിരുന്നത്. കർണൻ കുതിരയെ പരിപാലിക്കുകയും രഥം തളിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന തൊഴിൽ ചെയ്യാതെ ക്ഷത്രിയരെപോലെ ആകണമെന്ന് ആഗ്രഹിച്ചത് കൊണ്ടാണ് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് അപമാനവും കഷ്ടപാടുകളും ഉണ്ടായത്...അതേസമയം അർജുനൻ ക്ഷത്രിയൻ ആയിട്ടുപോലും അപമാനവും കഷ്ടപ്പാടും നേരിട്ടുകൊണ്ട് ഇരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. ഇനി അവർ യുവാക്കൾ ആയിരുന്നപ്പോൾ...കർണൻ രാജാവിന്റെ സ്ഥാനമാനങ്ങൾ അലങ്കരിച്ചു സുഗിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ...പാണ്ഡവർ വനത്തിൽ ആണ് കഴിഞ്ഞിരുന്നത് അപ്പോളും വേദനയും അപമാനവും അർജുനനു സ്വന്തം...വേഷം മാറി സ്ത്രീയായി ജീവിക്കേണ്ടി വന്നതിനെ ചൊല്ലി കർണൻ പോലും അർജുനനെ അപമാനിച്ചു എന്നുള്ളതാണ് വിരോധാഭാസം. അർജുനൻറെ കയ്യിലുള്ള പാശുപഥം മാത്രം മതി കർണനെയും കൗരവരെ മുഴുവനായും ഇല്ലാതാക്കാൻ...ആരുടെ അടുത്തും അതിനുള്ള പ്രതിരോധ അസ്ത്രം ഇല്ല...പക്ഷെ അർജുനൻ മനുഷ്യ സ്നേഹിയും പ്രകൃതി സ്നേഹിയും ആയതുകൊണ്ട് അതൊന്നും പ്രയോഗിച്ചില്ല. പക്ഷെ കർണൻ ബ്രഹ്മസ്ത്രം പ്രയോഗിക്കാൻ മടികാണിച്ചിരുന്നില്ല.

അർജുനനും 17ആം ദിവസം ബ്രഹ്മാസ്ത്രം കർണനുമായുള്ള യുദ്ധത്തിൽ പ്രയോഗിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട് സഹോദര. പിന്നെ മറ്റൊരു കാര്യം പരശുരാമൻ ബ്രഹ്മാസ്ത്രം, ബ്രഹ്മശിരാസ്ത്രം, ഭാർഗവാസ്ത്രം ഈ അസ്ത്രങ്ങൾ മാത്രമാണ് കർണന് അഭ്യസിപ്പിച്ചത്. സാധാരണ അസ്ത്രവിദ്യകൾ ദ്രോണർ തന്നെയാണ് കർണന് അഭ്യസിപ്പിച്ചത്. സീരിയലിലെ പോലെ സൂതപുത്രൻ ആയത് കൊണ്ട് കർണനെ ദ്രോണർ തിരസ്കരിക്കുന്നില്ല. വേദ വ്യാസ മഹാഭാരതത്തിലെ ആദി പർവത്തിലെ സംഭവ പർവത്തിൽ ഉള്ള കാര്യമാണ് ദ്രോണർ ആണ് പരശുരാമന് മുമ്പുള്ള കർണൻറെ ഗുരു എന്ന്

പാണ്ഡവരെ വനവാസത്തിനു അയക്കാൻ കൂട്ടു നിന്നു. പകുതി രാജ്യം പാണ്ഡവർക്ക് തിരികെ കൊടുക്കാൻ എതിരു നിന്നു. കൊടുത്തിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ യുദ്ധം ഉണ്ടാകില്ലായുരുന്നു.
കൂടാതെ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു കർണനേക്കാൾ മികച്ചവനാണ് അർജുൻ എന്ന് പല തവണ തെളിയിക്ക പെട്ടതാണ്.
