    For those that read the instruction manual: Filter can be left on to pick up small amounts of water, remove if picking up large amounts of water. When the liquid in the drum reaches a predetermined level, the built in internal float mechanism will rise automatically to cut off airflow. You will know that the float has risen because Vac airflow ceases and the motor noise will become higher in pitch, due to increased motor speed. When this happens, turn off the Vac, unplug the power cord, and empty the drum. To clean the drum after normal dry operation use warm water and mild soap. If after picking up waste water disinfect drum with 1 teaspoon of bleach and 1 gallon of water, move around contents and cover all sides and let sit for 20min. then rinse thouroughly. If waste water has any purchase seperately and use the recommended wet debris specific foam filter to protect your motor from damage.

    You saved my life the other night. A toilet in my master bathroom cracked and I couldn’t figure out how to get my shop vac to suck up water without spraying it all over the exit vent. Thank you so much. Floors still need to be replaced but it would’ve been a lot worse if I would’ve let the water sit there for hours more!

    I use the size 1 and 1/0 Mustad hooks to freeline for snook ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxzXmlErSqVAEGWFEKO530BvTqFDw53QW3 and they have been fantastic. The points are super sharp, and the hook is small enough to blend with my baitfish, yet large enough to land fish 30" or more. I also use these hooks when I'm pier or surf fishing with my kids. They tend to catch tons of smaller snapper, whiting, and catfish, and we get far fewer gut hooks with these Mustad in-lines, which means more of them survive after release. I was actually using these hooks when I caught my friend too, but I think that had more to do with the bait I was using ;-)

    Yes, you don’t wanna have the filter on it they have a special cover. It’s like foam that usually comes with the vacuum that you can put over that area but if you leave the filter on we’ll get soaking wet.

    There’s only one thing I need to add make sure the motor and the inside of it is completely dry before attaching the dry vac filter. Otherwise it’ll get all nasty and moldy inside. You have to let it air dry.

    Hi Tom. Thanks for the video. I decided to look on UA-cam to see if there was a video with someone using this to pick up water. Do you use that feature often? When reading reviews on Amazon some people mention that the water is coming out when picking up water. Did you notice this when picking up water? I appreciate your help. Thanks!

    What about the filter on the backside of the shop vac? My Rigid has hose adapters on both sides of it. One side for blowing air and other side for vacuuming. So the opposite side always has a filter on it. What should I do with that?

    • @TomLeeman
      @TomLeeman  10 місяців тому

      Well, the side with the exhaust probably is where you have your filter on this one. The filter is in the center and if you’re pulling in water, it’ll get soaking wet. They have the special type of cover that goes over but I didn’t have one when I made the video.

    Is this the same for any shop vac? Honestly I never bought a shop vac in my life until now. What about if your doing something that is wet an dry or slightly wet an dry?

      Without the foam, any filth in the water can get up against the blower intake and even inside the motor. Not much risk from that fairly clean water from a dishwasher.

      That is something I have never encountered and I’m not quite sure what the best way to do.
