Concord Episode II
great comment ;)
Lawl.
I've been looking at the design of those characters, and I think they did a much better job than Concord.
The main problems with Fairgame$:
It features somewhat wealthy people, robbing even wealthier people.
Corporation funded hate of Billionares doesn't seem genuine.
The marketing department might fuck up.
Sony are really greedy, and might just push people away.
The game is competing in a somewhat saturated space.
Came for concord, stayed to learn more about character design

@@nicolasvillasecaali7662 I'm literally designing characters right now, so I'd love to hear more as I consider what to do with mine. Both bad and good designs are good to learn what to do and not to do.
@@emeryltekutsu4357 thanks everyone. I'll create more videos to help share more useful insight on character design.
@sungrandstudios more insight on art in general like how to show proper movement or how to use value properly. I'm new to art, I used to be in the military so it's a big transition and it's kinda scary in a way because it's not something I can just brute force. I am not the most patient either and I'm a bit hard on myself which I think summerizes a lot of young adults as well. Just some positive guidance and how tos or breakdown design videos would be amazing to learn from you!

This isn't something one person can do on their own. All you have been so awesome in the comment section. It will take all of us working together to show the younger generation a better way.

0:43 "Just too boring to be a UA-cam personality." False. Your professional delivery and 100% accurate takes, but with tons of humor and self-awareness thrown in, are what make you stand out. I agree if your passion is game dev, you should definitely focus on that, but don't stop making videos because of an inaccurate self-image.

Seems wild that people are complaining about someone pointing out the facts about a failed game 😅
It's only wild cause you can't imagine a normal person doing it, but the Concord fans are *obviously* not normal people 🤣
It was quite a fun read in the Concord Subreddit when fans then pulled out OPs designs. They kept saying "Why is a mediocre artist criticizing a work of art like Concord?" And of course fellow fanboys of the game agree with that take lol.
People in r/concordgame is bitching and mocking him for being "grifter" despite he spitting all the facts.
I can understand if someone called Asmongold a grifter, I can understand if someone called Yellow flash a grifter or Hypnotic, Cyael, doctor disaster.

Your Concord vids were very helpful to me: I am an auditory person by nature, but picked up mini-painting as a hobby. I intuitively knew some of what you explained, but the specific detail you shared will really help me find that “something” I felt was missing in some of my character paints. Thanks!

I continue to thank you for being such a calm and mature voice that is willing to address the very nature of negativity and the absurdity of it. I was thankful that you lent your voice to the Concord character design issues and the overall problems it had without being overly negative and while addressing the seriousness of the bigger problems at large. It makes me want to readdress all of my interactions with others concerning this type of thing and not get trapped down that rabbit hole designed to trap us, as you said so well. These things should be addressed....but then we need to let it go without dwelling on it. Address it, do what you can, lend your voice, and then just move on. Continuing to feed the fire doesn't help anyone if you are only doing it to burn people. But you provide a warm and thoughtful approach to it and if I ever do discussions like this, I'd like to do so in the same way, so I thank you for the inspiration, as a fellow game developer and person on UA-cam, despite not being a UA-camr, as so many of us are.
As my fellow human being, I wish you nothing but love and kindness. Your analysis taught me a lot about forging my own characters.
As a writer, the hardest part I have is transferring the traits and personality I wrote to a character, and while a designer will have the final say, it helps a lot to have a base design in my head while writing.
I will stay subbed and watch whatever lessons you put out :)
Jerrel, I believe you're one of the real ones, you're not some over hyped personification/character of yourself, you speak from your heart, you speak your mind, and you don't sugar coat it, that is what I like about you, you go against the grain like a crystal skull, never change for anyone, keep your head held high, manifest your destiny in your own way, I'm happy to see more people are subscribing to your channel, although you're not striving to be a big youtuber, I'm just happy that more people are interested in what you have to say, and to see your creative process, how it was, as it is, and what it will evolve into, which I'm sure will be beneficial to you, and others, I wish you luck, and continued success.
Hey Kenneth! Great to hear from you. Hope you're well. I'll do my best over here and get some new games out to you soon. I think I've gained just barely enough awareness now to not let UA-cam's algorithm control me.

I assume most people are normal, just as yourself, and confused as to why suddenly the activists guising themselves as artists are labeling everyone and everything problematic, phobic and ist when we pretty much were over those issues back in the 1990’s. But the activists need causes to fund their existence. So they must create outrage, hate and division. Their livelihood depends on twisting ordinary things micro aggressions, appropriation, sexism, racism, ageism, etc. even when there is none.
We the consumers are being berated like children for wanting non-political escapist entertainment. We are shamed for our want to see people as equals - and not as pawns on the victim hierarchy.
They gaslight us into thinking that WE are being hateful and bigoted.

Just know a random guy from Brazil really needed to hear that. Thank you man, seriously.
Taking the time to actually *experience* the life you are living by admiring the small stuff, like acknowledging the genuine wonder behind how a comment is made and read, is a wonderful thing. You are not alone in that sentiment. Thank you for being you.
TBH, it's so refreshing that you get straight to the point with no click baity titles; so many youtubers now just rant about random things or repeat the same thing over and over again for like 5 minutes, milking for time, before actually getting to the point. The fact that your content is straight to the point, speaks the truth, and adds a bit of humor to it is amazing. Sad that you don't want to become a content creator, but I can imagine that if you release any content in the future, people will definitely watch it.
I appreciate that. Like everyone else, I'm getting a little annoyed from that kind of UA-cam content that is click baity and drags out the runtime. I understand I have a responsibility to create more videos since the people who have subscribed enjoyed the recent content and have requested more games to cover. I'll do my best.
Very mature responses and advice, good on you for making a video like this :)
I have to admit...I was a little worried that you were getting sucked into becoming the "character" that all these new subscribers expected. I'm glad that you are going to return to being yourself; the interesting, quirky game developer we all followed in the first place not one of these "personalities" that are slaves to an algorithm.
On the plus side, I hope all these new followers now check out...(or check in at) Silver Falls.
Jesus I feel like an arsehole for saying this. I wasn't going to comment but I can't shake the thought. It's just.... maybe the internet has jaded me to my core, but I have seen several of your videos, and I find it strange just how hard you try to say "I'm a normal human being", "I am boring", why are you so intent on telling people this? I get saying it once in a video after getting lots of subs - a one off video with a "hey guys thanks for subscribing, but just so you know I'm just a normal guy, pretty boring actually, so don't expect me to suddenly be something I'm not". But you seem very intent on saying it a lot. Look at the ending to your "I don't know how I suddenly got to 10k subs overnight..." video; that was bloody hilarious. The old saying "me thinks doth protests too much" rings in my head a bit. It reminds me of that friend we've all had, the one who insists on telling everyone "oh me, I'm well funny me, yeah I'm the funny one", we've all had that friend at some point xD I'm guessing it's just high levels of insecurity, believe me I fully understand that. If you are legit a good, upstanding regular dude, that will shine through. But the more I hear you try to enforce it, the more it does start to feel manipulative.
This really isn't me trying to have a go at you in any way; but having just found you, like many others have, I'm just saying what I have genuinely felt. Just be yourself my man, your qualities will shine through. You got yourself this attention by being yourself thus far, there's no need to convince people of what they can already see.
I really appreciate that honesty. Maybe I've been saying it too much, but lately in the comments, it feels like people are trying to paint me as if I'm posing as some special fancy guy and I suppose I'm subconsciously reacting to that. Thanks for the message!
@@sungrandstudios I'm relieved that you understand, I thank you in turn for that. I too have received the odd comment feeling like people ascribe things to me I'm unsure about, I get it; the way I see it is, I am choosing to put little bits of me out there, things that interest me or mean something to me, and in turn showing a part of who I am, I can't control how people will perceive that, but I will put things up that I want to, safe in the knowledge that the people in my life who know me, who matter, they know the real me. You have no idea who each person commenting is. Their age, culture, life experiences, they may see things a certain way more due to where they are in their life than is anything to do with you directly. While I fully endorse focusing on your own game development above all else, I do hope at some point there'll be some more character design analysis videos. I find them very informative and educational, and while it's easy to look at nice character designs and say "yeah, that looks good" it's not so easy to understand all the finer details of WHY they look good, what kinds of techniques come together to make a well-designed character, etc (or how they could be better) and you are quite good at that sort of analysis and breakdown.
It's okay to have productive criticisms and debates. It's a great way to present ones ideas/positions and to learn. It's a shame so few individuals have the understanding/maturity to discuss topics in such a manner.
I hope by sharing more open discussions we can show people it is totally fine to disagree and listen to other people without having a fight over it.
We love how you are a voice of the people spoken professionally. As fans it is difficult to have that voice the closest we get r UA-camrs and like you said you aren’t that. so when u make these videos it helps us learn about game design and our complaints r put into constructive criticism. Im fine with you making videos about game design.
I suspect I was recommended the channel because I was looking at other channels that focus on aspects of game design, and because you had hit upon a hot button topic which others chose to also interact with your channel came up in my options. That said, I subscribed because your insights into why the Concord characters were not good provided me with deeper insight into what makes good characters precisely that.
I tend to be a contrarian, and so when I have looked into design I have looked at what is good and a part of me wants to do something different specifically so that my designs are not ubiquitous. However, as you expressed in one of the two videos, there are various levels of design understanding, and it struck me that if I truly want to create characters that are original I must at least understand how to use the design languages properly so that I do not end up with something that has no tonal quality or form.
It goes further beyond that, but to keep this rant a bit short, I will keep myself subscribed to the channel to learn what I can from someone who seems gifted at teaching. We could all do with a bit less Concord anyway.
The day I discovered this man, the day I saw him cooking in the middle of his analysis in response to the comments saying Valve was "cooking" with Deadlock, I knew I would follow him to the ends of the Earth and even over it...
