What a time to be alive: I get to see three pure indian souls being touched by the composition of an Italian who lived more than 450 years ago in my homeland, in my home city, sung in the language of my ancestors.
Words fail me when I try to describe what joy this brings to me.

Yes, it is amazing, Gianluca. The tribal people knew no Latin, yet they knew with their hearts the meaning of the words: Miserere Mei, Deus: secundum magnam misericordiam tuam (in English: Have Mercy on Me, oh God, after Thy great goodness).

To all non-Catholics, this piece 'Miserere mei, Deus' means "Have Mercy on me, O God", Psalm 50. This was composed for the exclusive use of Sistine Chapel in the Vatican. Today, this is being played or sung during Catholic Holy Week especially in what we called "The Tenebrea" service. So if you want to listen to it live, you may visit Catholic churches during Holy Week.

I am also not Catholic, and wouldn’t consider myself religious, but like you, find these types of religious hymns and chants so beautiful. Unless I’m familiar with the translations of Latin into English,I don’t really know what is being said (apart from a few words I’ve picked up over the years), but the words are just “extra icing” on the “cake” that is the actual music.

Arched vaulted ceilings produce enhanced acoustics because of dead space and curvature. Many cathedrals and chapels follow similar blueprints for this reason and choirs are often positioned at the back on a balcony facing the domed or arched ceiling so that vocals are dramatically amplified and bounced back to the audience. This choir obviously strategically placed their singers in the video to get the best sound they could from their venue. Obviously building materials can change the effect, stone is a better medium for sound than say, plaster.

You should show them the meaning of the song - Psalm 51 of the Bible (in tradition, king David's guilt and regret from his sins)
1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.
16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
18 Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.

With this one and other Latin pieces, I think it would be great to provide them a translation of the lyrics, because it really adds something, an understanding, to the feeling of the music. “Miserere mei deus” means “ have mercy on me, O God”, and comes from the 51st psalm. Raeen has said before that he doesn't really like music, but every time something like this is played he gets very emotional and with harder rap and rock type music he gets very into the rhythm. I think maybe he doesn't care for local music and would enjoy music more if he were exposed to other options. It would be fantastic to introduce them to more variety of music from around the world and let them learn what touches them most.
In particular I think Raeen would like certain types of metal (like symphonic metal, Ignea and Nightwish are good options). I also think they would all appreciate some bouncy electronic music to dance to, and for that you can't go wrong with Tokyo Machine or almost anything from the "electro swing" genre. The youtube channel Funky Panda has an amazing selection.

Miserere Mei Deus is a musical composition of Psalm 51. In English it means ‘Have mercy upon me, O God’
Here it is in English, taken from the King James Version bible, translated about 400 years ago and possibly the finest work of English literature.
Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.
For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.
Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.

Psalm 51 is a song of repentence. David had one of his soldiers killed because he was in love with his wife. Later, when he goes to the temple, he realises and becomes conscious of the fact that he did something really wrong. This psalm tells how he starts from minoring his fault to a real confession before God: "I have sinned deeply, because I sent one of my soldiers to war to be killed, so that I could appropriate me his wife." The bible tells the consequences David had by committing this sin.

Hello, and warmest greetings to you all. I’ve been watching the Common Man Show for the last six months, and have loved watching your heartfelt reactions to many videos since last July.
This particular video amazed me because of my personal connection to the Allegri Miserere Mei. Years ago, I sang with a professional choir in Milwaukee, Wisconsin USA. I was luckily chosen to perform the small ensemble high soprano part first featured at 4:08, and again at 5:55. It was a highlight in my singing career and personal life. I never imagined this piece would be the subject of one of your reaction video. What a beautiful and meaningful surprise.

For over a century, the Vatican tried to keep the manuscript scores for this piece hidden and secret by holding all the copies in secure storage, so they couldn't be reproduced. They would be locked away and only brought out once a year or so for the choir to use, and then confiscated until the next year. The Church thought this music was so unique that they wanted its performance to remain rare and special. Then smartypants Wolfgang Mozart attended a performance. With his perfect pitch and perfect memory, he absorbed the notes all at once and went home and wrote them out. Voila! Cat out of the bag. Now it was the world's music.

4:09 I like how on this part the guy on the left was getting ready to say something but stopped himself to listen but the motion he made was just like "Hush my mouth." And he looked ready to cry

"People say music connects hearts. Listening to this music feels like it is connecting with God" Just beautiful.

They are echoing King David's plea to God to have mercy on him though he did not deserve it and to wash away all his sins and give him a clean heart so that he can sing the glory of God in joy again and proclaim it to all the earth.
It is sung in Catholic churches during that time of year that they especially seek God's forgiveness.

As a Catholic, I rejoice in the richness and fullness of the Christian Faith! Deo gratias! I am cut to the heart every time I hear the Miserere mei, Deus.

This particular piece has a really interesting story. The sheet music for it was kept very secret by the Catholic Church and could only be performed at the Sistine Chapel.
When W.A. Mozart was 14 years old he visited the chapel for a performance, and when he got home he charted the entire piece down from memory.

The dude on the right is simply experiencing everything that I feel. That’s about it! Especially the ending phrase leading up to the penultimate and the final cadence.

What is interesting is their ability To pay attention to the vidéos they are show. Most of us lack that focus with social média, etc

I think they are using Latin and I don’t understand a word but it’s incredibly beautiful and timeless.

Now have they listen to atonal music and see what they think.
Any human being listening to something like Miserere mei, Deus - Allegri even with 0 knowledge of music will understand that it's something which is nice to hear (whether you like it or not) but you will not find someone who never listened to music thinks that atonal music is nice to listen to.

7:38 I find harmonizing like that to be hypnotic. I loved when our warn ups included our sections holding a certain note and the others holding one an octave above or below our own

I'd love to see their reaction to the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square singing "O Divine Redeemer."
