I have waited for this moment for many years I was very concerned when I heard rumors of an electric BSA This is exactly what I wanted; namely a BSA that looks like one of the most iconic motorcycles of all time ! If you have a blueprint for a great motorcycle keep it even though it’s a modern day bike
You have to hand it to these people, to design and produce an iconic bike of it's time with a very near resemblence is unbelievable and probably at a competative price. They have done a brilliant job.
Got to admire the stoics if India design to keep motorcycles as pure as intended.
I hope its cheap, because on paper its not quite up to the specs of the RE Interceptor. I'm saying this because it looks expensive! lovely looking bike!
Would love to see your review on BSA soon.
@@tenzing1328 LOL so would I!
Yeah it has to be cheap otherwise bsa won't last again, competition is neck and neck now a days
Also I wonder how refined the motor is, it's a very big capacity single.
I don't think it is cheap, The price I heard was around 10k pounds, it is more likely to take on the likes of Triumph Bonneville and Kawasaki w800.
It is meant to target Royal Enfield though, but I dont think it will be able to do so as the market share which RE has in UK and European markets is very tough to compete against the value they offer. Plus soon Norton might also launch motorcycles in 350 and 650cc category as they have recently teased with the new concept cafe racer bike.
Wow this is great launch...pride of owning a BSA gold star would be ultimate 😍.....I can say this with full confidence after having used and kept BSA swingarm 1956 with me....a dream machine!!
Have to agree with AdventureDog there a water cooled thumper with a vague resemblance to the original is not a Goldie. It's somebody thinking that there is a market there to be tapped and it actually may not be in the UK.
I was a very lucky young man, back in the late 60,early 70's, I had one or two BSA Bantam's . and I loved those bikes. To see a brand new B S A Gold Star being launched in 2021, is just amazing !
Bloody hell I thought we'd only really see something rubbish but this looks fantastic. I'm planning on a bike next year and if these come to Aus it's now officially on the list.
A Goldstar with no oil leaks and reliable ignition, yet!
I will ride one out to you, all the way from Blighty!!!!! Lol.
Rubbish? Temper your bias mate. Have more trust.
Yeah, must admit I'm interested as well, if incomes to Oz.
U think better than a t100 ???
Most of my bikes were BSA - Bantam D7 175cc, B31, B33 both 500cc singles and finally an M20 500cc side valve ex WD despatch bike. The bigger bikes were all 'thumpers' and I can't imagine what the 650 Gold Star will vibrate like - hopefully there's some offset with counter-rotating flywheel like the RE 350 Bullet.
Still riding my 71 650 Lightning. Will keep it for quite a while.
nice
'67 Bonneville since new but I really go for the India designs now.
WOW what a great story is BSA really back!
Wow This beats my BSA Bantam Sports. 1968 vintage but bought by me 1969. Bring it on BSA. Great to see you back with such a great new motorcycle.
Ooo that's spot on. Love it 😍
Thanks 👍👍
Thanks looks really respectful and good looking bike.
One of the best icons to revive
Absolutely stunning can’t wait to see it in real life.
At last a retro looking bike with 'proper' mudguards. It looks like a superior bike and I expect it'll be quite expensive. But then, how much is a top quality BSA 500 GOLSTAR from back in the day?
yes, but good luck maintaining an old one while keeping it as a daily.
Kawasaki W800 has proper chrome mudguards
@@splodge5714 My 1999 W650 has OEM chromed mudguards. Your stainless are a great upgrade and must be aftermarket? Lovely bikes!
Must say as a big fan of old British bikes, they did pull this off quite well. And i guess you dont have to fiddle with the ignition timing before you hope it starts within the first couple of kicks 🤣
The fiddling with ignition and carburetor was part of the joy of owning one.
@@russvague2748 I'm more of a Norton man, so less fiddling and more riding 🤣
Hi you are doing wonderful job I watch every single video on this channel keep it up .. Just wondering when we gonna upload Dave videos.. He is a genius and looking forward to watch more videos on restoration..
It has to be outstanding as there are a lot of good competitors in this class, Triumph, Royal Enfield etc.
I think these Indian companies are on a mission to revive every single old-school British bike brand and make something out of it!
Yup.. RE already done.. BSA & Norton in process.
@@duggux9672 great to hear India has a great engineering plant and producing great machinery, Wishing the very best in the future , from Ireland,
Make something out of them, unlike their british owners who intentionally ran them into the ground. I love thumpers, lets see what this ends up really being. I want a fast single, the gold star was damn impressive even today, Hopefully with all of the new machining they can at least be fast.
Only the RE is Indian company, other all are British brand.
@@ibrahimpallikkal5100 It's more complicated. There's the company (where its based), there's ownership rights (who owns it) and then there's the brand (built over a century). All 3 "brands" are British...ownership of all 3 is Indian. RE is now technically an Indian company (based in India), BSA & Norton remain British companies (both based in UK), just that they are subsidiaries of India-based parent companies is all.
But when I said "Indian companies" what I had in mind were the parent companies with the management & resources that led to the brands' revival (Eicher Motors, TVS Motor Company & Mahindra Group).
Looks fantastic.
Great British Bike! Congratulations!
About time,I hope price will be realistic.650 quite large for a single too.dug dug.. be a familiar sound on the streets again since Royal Enfield shelved their largest single the 500cc
BMW built a legendary 650 one pot, later Husqvarna... why not Mahindra? That size u nowadays need to not get steamrolled by darn white lorries. :D
Found ya my ole matey. Are you from India ?
@@johnmartin7158 No my old mate I'm a pakeha(European kiwi) but the Indians do call them dug dug because of the sound in fact there is a huge customizing shop in India called Dug Dug Motorcycles & has everything you can imagine for 500cc R.E.Here in NZ more they are more commonly known as thumpers but I prefer dug dug over thump thump & dug dug sounds closer to the real thing.
@@ronr6605 Isn't sv650 a single I know there are a couple japanese 650 singles but they don't have the British pedigree.Wow what a beautiful bike I wonder what the weight is.
Suzuki put their 650 dirt bike motor into their Savage cruiser, unfortunately it's performance was gutless and it never lived up to the Savage moniker, it became known as the Suzuki Salvage by many owners.
Never would've thought that I'd see a new street legal 650 single in Europe! Take that, Royal Enfield!
I can't believe any one actually built a single cylinder bike over 250 cc. just why?
I just bought a 1939 bsa c10 , I really want one of these new ones as well
someone of note in the motorcycle world once said of motorcycle design, "add lightness, and simplicate."
so this is a good bike, but only for oldies who value comfort over performance.
Wow amazing bike 🇬🇧👍
Absolutely fantastic this will be real eye Turner
They've done a good job with that.
finally a motorcycle worth buying.
Looking cool 🤠
It looks nice except for that big square, afterthought truck like radiator.Reshape and fit a more streamlined one that blends in with the rest of the bike and BSA have nailed it.Good job!
Embrace the radiator! Radiators on motorcycles are essential if you want the bike to make modern levels of horsepower and meet emissions requirements. Check out the new Ducati V-fours. They don't try to hide the radiators, they actually emphasize them. The bigger the radiator, the better the performance.
RIGHT !! Recess it between the frame rails like Kawasaki did on the 800 Vulcans 27 years ago. Mine is still good.
This radiator is nicely tucked in with in the width of the frame unlike Suzuki's etc
Wow, first Norton and now BSA? Are we gonna get Vincent’s and Brough Superiors next?! 🤙🏼
I think the Brough has been out a few years now.
Brough Superior are making really high end motorcycles.Way out of most people’s price range.
All owned by indians
How about an Ariel Square Four?
Isn't there a French mob making Vincents? Egli-Vincent I think.
Can't wait to see them in the flesh
If they're anything like Royal Enfield they'll tease us with it now but we won't see one in a shop till 2024. I'd have one though 🙂
@@splodge5714 Due in the US in 2032?
It looks great I hope it has a counterbalance system for vibration/ many mature riders with behemoth cruises/ unbelievable Road restrictions and never ending severe traffic congestion even in the outer region's here in Australia/ can get back to enjoying riding and having fun with this beautiful BSA have been trying to get hold of the A7 to restore maybe this is a better option cheers all and ridewell
Estéticamente igual a una moto bsa 350 del año 1948 que tuve por más de 10 años muy noble me imagino está con tecnologia actual debe ser genial saludos desde Argentina lo mejor para ustedes hasta cualquier momento.
Wow.., I'll wait in Indonesia
Really a lot of riders are not impressed by the insane superbikes of today; they are simply not that enjoyable on real-world roads and they put your driver's license in jeopardy. A modern big single like this new Gold Star would be so much fun on the back-roads.
Oh what a beauty. & I bet they don't leak oil anymore. ❤️
me like !!
So glad it's a single, take my money
Most Goldie enthusiasts will actually own a carefully restored one, but will the younger more modern bikers want a 650 water cooled thumper. There's more to it than just trying to pay homage to a classic. The feel of the bike the vibration and sound on the overrun. The starting procedure that is all part of the nostalgia. I was a BSA B31 rider in the sixties with a good few tweaks to improve the power.
Very nice 👍🏻🇨🇦
What am I looking at? Flashes of a machine. Did they slap on the electric startermotor later?
Had an original DBD34 in the 60's and it was a road legal race bike. Difficult to ride in traffic but great fun. I'm suprised that with all the advances in technology, that the new bike only has 45bhp, mine produced about that. Also looking at the styling it would be more suited to being called after the Road Rocket. But hopefully it is successful.
Targetting A2 license just like the RE 650s
You have a poor memory. I have owned 3 x DBD500's and a DB350. One of the 500's came with a dyno spec sheet from the factory.. Its best effort was 40bhp. My last 500 was a classic race bike and in 2005 produced a modest 38.5 BHP at the back wheel.
The new bike seems a lot like what I would have liked the old one to be but I really would have liked to know if it has a primary gear instead of a chain, how many gears, electric start and doesn't leak? I'm 83 next birthday.
Good start. The looks are almost there. However, I will wait for the Mk 2: 100 pounds lighter, 15 hp more, and top quality suspension--worthy to be called a Gold Star.
I want one.
Royal enfield, Norton and now BSA ...a big shout out to indian motorcycle manufactures for resurrection of old british glory
If ic engines are only up to 2035... Indians are making a big mistake
What would be a realistic price? Is the retro market not already fully covered?Where will is be built? How long will the company last?
OMG! unbelivable! when can I buy one!
I hope it will also launch in India.
Any idea on prices? Not sure about the 650cc, RE's domination could make this return short lived
I guess somewhere near £5000-£8000
BSA, Nortons and RE's are in a league of their own.
it will directly rival Enfield 650... price will be more or less similar to Enfield 650
enfield kind of locked themselves out when they discontinued the 500cc single.
Pricing is going to be a major factor , with royal Enfield having success in this area it open doors To potential customers wanting retro motorcycles
Yes got to be under £7000
Wow, unlike most "retros" actually like the original from not far distance. Does it have an e-start and ABS?
Well, I cant see a kickstarter on it and there is what looks like a starter motor in front of the cylinder, just behind the radiator.
Obviously it has E-Start & ABS!!
Does it have the goldstar twitter?
They should make some BSA Hurricane A75R
I've bought a drip tray in celebration
Did he say 650CC single? I wonder how great it would sound.
Rocket Goldie next? Big-ish twin please
me too! Unless I track down my old one from when I left the UK in 1973. 😥
It looks great, but a radiator?
I'll get one later once the hype has died and have it next to my DB32 350 Goldie
Glad to see it's not electric
If they are the same price or very similar to the Royal Enfield they will sell like hotcakes, however if they are much higher in the price range they may struggle to sell so many.
If it is going to be manufactured in india & assembled in UK 🇬🇧 then it's competing with RE.. if whole thing going to be manufactured in UK then it's competing with Triumph & Others
They will likely be selling at a price similar to Triumph's offerings.
@@duggux9672 it’s always a risk buying a first generation mk1 machine of any kind, good luck to them I hope they succeed , however Triumph are now considered a top brand nowadays and the new BSA is an unknown quantity so asking a premium price for a new brand (to us) machine range could be suicidal.
Sold in thailand ?
Nostalgia aint what is used to be! Its like the MX5, new Bonneville etc as in you can ride it and dont have to spend more time fixing the unfixable. It does look great but I would have thought most older people with the cash would have a thing about the 70s Rocket 3 and A65 (I do!).
Triumph pretty much got the twin with performance nailed for years, so I guess they’re finding an easier gap in the market Looks way better than an Enfield ! I do miss the sound and kicking over my A65 though, and wouldn’t be surprised if they had plans in the future for a twin, aka Enfield.
waiting for launching in India
Nice soon india launch
Just hoping to buy one once we find more details. I think a Chinese engine would bust my bubble.
Trouble is the original Gold Star, was in it's day, a high performance machine, where this is now going to be a low performance commuter machine.
They shouldn't have used that name.
Ride it and then see it for yourself.
@@neosmith166 no thanks, I like 4 cylinders, and rather more performance than this will ever hope to give.
Not a fan of the looks either.
Indian, Norton, Excelsior and other names sure got tossed around a lot.
If Harley's weren't 90% Japanese parts they would use the name on Chinese scooters.
Not a BSA at all , but looks-great for what it really-is . Funny how everyone slagged the first 'hybrid-BSA' with the SR500 air-cooled-single (kick-start-only like the original) , but they have their-tongues all-over the oil-cooled-Rotax-Hybrid 'electric-start' . Something in the Water ? Dave NZ
A motorcycle which looks like a motorcycle and not some alien ufo transformers thing. 👍

As the law in America is such that all bikes must have left hand gear change, I often wonder if this was enacted to put pressure on British manufacturers to change because of pressure from HD. Dropping a foot at the traffic lights would seem to favour right hand gear change whilst using the left foot on down side of camber in the UK and reverse on driving on the right.
Wow! How much ?
Other than the water cooled part, which i get the company needs for compliance…this is my kind of motorcycle
Roughly £5000-£8000
@@kyakaruvlogs2784 at that price, I’m kind of motorcycle !
OK.. so we have an original Gold Star..so jumped at a chance to see this presentation - I'd much rather SEE the motorcycle and not the
guy try'n to be a movie star. But.. THANKS. At least got an idea of what this new bike looks like...TY
Engine specs? Gearbox ratios? Comp ratios? Etc, etc please.
Ok, give me a minute.
Any Prices?
Would look better with alloy fuel and oil tank like the old race versions. 45 bhp is bit low for a modern 650 engine !
I guess they are aiming for A2 license holders just like the RE650s
Mudah mudahan ka Indonesia iye motor
I would have been more excited if the new bike was a cutting edge naked, competitive with KTM 890 Duke R, Speed Triple etc., all this is just trading on nostalgia. They’ll probably sell heaps.
Pity about the radiator.
Long live British bikes
lets see what it sounds like
Este es el camino para acercarnos a los japoneses aunque se tarde algo de tiempo.
Single cylinder 659, you can expect a lot of vibration
When is a modern bike a retro and vice versa ?
Okay, so the principle questions are how much and where is it made?
Its made in UK 🇬🇧 & owned by Indian Mahindra Group.
Made in India, see MCN
@@Paul-id3ib made in India only until they are able to set up a facility in West Midlands, in particular Birmingham.
@@kyakaruvlogs2784 I read that the facility in west Midlands, hasn't been started yet & will be for production of the new electric bikes. I don't have a problem with bikes being assembled in India, just in the materials being used, eg will the metallurgy be to a similar specification to current Triumph engines. Any idea what the weight of the new Goldie is, will it be a similar low weight to the original?
@@Paul-id3ib thanks, I better look online. So price wise it has to be at Royal Enfield level.
I had an original 500 Goldie ..Sadly caught fire and burnt to a crisp in front of my eyes ..I may finally get another one , unless it's chinese e
I wonder where they're painted? 🤔
The paintwork looks fabulous. Whoever painted them has done an incredible

You see more on a 650cc machine .
Enjoy the ride .
WATER COOLED!.. pffft.... looks cool tho.
How much?? Price please!!!!
£5000-£8000
Tease of a video. We want to see close ups of the bike. Not a reporter talking about colors. JMHO….
Thanks for your comment. We weren't allowed to show close up shots, but stay tuned :)
Please please please fit tubeless tyres!
the radiator kills it, sorry

I take it this, like most modern day British Heritage brands, is manufactured in India?
For the price, still think the RE 650 beats anything
The RE 650 twin will definitely be competition, don't think that the BSA will be as cheap.
You're right about the radiator, it's too noticeable. If I bought one, it would be the first thing I'd change.
@@geoffhalsey2184 You're funny. How would you change it?

Real nice styling but single cylinder?
I approve....torque meister
You cannot beat a big single, this bike will ooze character!
@@splodge5714 you right
@@TheNorthRemembers91 Really? pretty much every single engine configuration is both smoother and more powerful than a similar sized single. I personally prefer the V4 as the best engine configuration. You couldn't give me a single over 250 cc.
Wow, the India BSA roll out in England lol.
needs the factory option for clubman (clip on style) handlebars..
looks from the line up that it's not a thing... shame 😕
Not much power or is that within keeping to the original
If its that good I will sell one of my Harley's and buy one.
